I love credit cards so much! v5.0 - 2022 (see first page for add'l details)

I have the Explorer, which I believe it is one for me and one for a companion.
Maybe they've changed it, but I recall having to apply the two bags to the primary cardholder to get them both to show up as free with the Explorer. You can try it with one each, and if your DH's bag applies a fee, go back and add a second for yourself.

Only if you have a specific redemption in mind and to top off.
Once you get to 26000 and 26000, the value is $5 per thousand which is the lowest price I can find anywhere. If you find a redemption where $5 per thousand is cheaper than the cash price, then you might actually save a bit. You would have to compare the cash price versus the points acquisition cost on the particular room you are looking at, on the actual date you would want.

It used to be a no brainer to pick up points like this and on some higher end redemptions get the room for almost half price. No longer true in what I have looked at - I'm looking at redemptions with cash rates over $500, but you might find some savings here and there.

So, what @Killer Fish says is unfortunately accurate.

This might be a simple question, but for the life of me I cannot find the answer anywhere on United or Chase.

I have the Chase United card, I bought our tickets on the United site with said card, and my United miles # is on the account. I know I get a free bag (and DH since I bought the tickets at the same time. But how do I redeem this perk? Do I buy a bag in advance and it gets refunded on the card? Do I need a link or voucher? Do I just show up at the desk and give them my bags? Nothing on my email confirmation says I have a free bag, but I do see the image below when I go to United. What is confusing me is that below that message it has the buy luggage option.

I would think that the 'buy luggage' option would apply if you and your husband needed to travel with 3 or 4 bags, then you would have to pay for 'more' bags. Your free option is already checked off.

You both qualify for the first bag free with your Explorer card since you booked both tickets together on the same reservation.

I always max out this offer when it becomes available. And sometimes when I exceed my annual limit, one can bypass that by having points gifted to them.
Here's why I love IHG. I'm a big fan of the Kimpton brand, which is available on points, and if you have the right card, you get stay 3 nights, get the fourth free, which beats all other programs.

For an upcoming caribbean stay, a standard room was selling for $6,400 with taxes and fees for a four night stay  , which is just obscenely crazy. Instead, one could buy points for just $1,050 utilizing the purchase point bonus and the fourth night free.
Have you checked back to see if this points price has changed just recently? If you booked back a while, you may now have an incredible deal, since some points prices have recently escalated quite a bit.

That piqued my interest. For my Easter stay and the dates I am holding (in case) for Thanksgiving, points per night are holding steady at 70k (52.5k with fourth night free). But interestingly, Thanksgiving cash rate is $4054 vs the $6,400 for Easter. I know this is their peak season, but I would have expected to see similar prices for Thanksgiving. Either way an obscene cash rate, but a very reasonable points purchase rate at $1050 plus resort fee.

Lesson learned: DH has a SW CP plus A list and typically DS is automatically checked in with the next # after DH. So if DH gets A29, DS gets A30. Well this time I bought DH business select since it was only a few $s more but triple points so I figured what the heck I have AmEx airline credits to burn. Go to check DH in he gets A2. Go to check DS in about 30 min late and he gets B38. No automatic check in for business select. More $s = less CP perks.

Kind of an odd question - but if anyone knows it's someone here. Do Disney restaurants charged to a CC come through as restaurant charges? I'm at the tail end of my Resy AmEx Platinum 15x Shop Small/Restaurant Bonus - wondering if that will work if I use the card directly at restaurants in the park/resorts/DS.

Has anyone opened an “business” checking account at Wells Fargo?

I think this is too good to miss out on.

I never do bank bonuses, but my husband is just starting a side hussle, and so we will definitely do this. Thanks for sharing.

FYI, filing for an EIN is relatively simple and free.

I did today! :-)

Thanks for posting about this. Is an EIN necessary? I guess I could get one for my "business" (which actually is sort of a real business). Does getting an EIN create any issues to be aware of (like having to file a business tax return)?

Some do and some don't. I have had some dining charges over the years code as entertainment. I was able to call and get the additional points. This was several years ago. After that, we decided all Disney charges would be paid with a Disney GC or Visa/MC GC that was purchased at 5x.

How did it go? I have read mixed reports. Do you know if it has to be done in office, and did they ask for business documents?
Mixed reports? I've only seen smooth sailing except for a few bankers who asked for documents and then were reminded that they shouldn't given sole proprietorship

It went well, very friendly banker. Just needed my license and a second form of ID (used a CC). No business documents. No EIN. Just asked some general questions about my business like how much it made last year, what expenditures it had (just categories, not amounts), etc. Also was pre-approved for a biz cc with $300 back for spending 3K, plus 1.5% cash back on everything. No credit check required. I took it because I think without a credit check it doesn't count toward 5/24, right?

Anyway, definitely give this a try and let me know if you have other questions about my experience!

Credit check has nothing to do with 5/24. As long as WF biz cards don't report to your credit report it won't affect your 5/24. I can't remember if they do or not. Someone will know though.

Ah, ok. Someone do let me know, please, so I can update my spreadsheet!

Ugh It’s unfortunate you didn’t know about it…I’ve seen it discussed and it does make sense since there are only 15 business select slots

Do you have a SW card that gets reimbursed for 4 upgrade boarding’s you could purchase one for your son.
