Does anyone own DVC with Polynesian as a home resort?

Poly owner here❤️ Very happy with our purchase.
Note that current Poly DVC only has studios or bungalows. As you may be aware of, a new Poly DVC tower is being built, speculation is it will have studios, 1 & 2 bedroom villas. It is unknown if Poly2 will Be part of Poly1‘s association or a new association.
As with all resorts, there are pros and cons

We own PVB and absolutely love it. Resort has a more laid back relaxing feeling for us. We enjoy the walks along the lake and seeing MK, awesome pool with views of MK, different food choices than most Disney properties, and so much more.

For LV rooms, it is nice to order room service before MK fireworks, then sit on your balcony and have a very private dining experience.

Transportation wise, DVC rooms make the TTC walk very short. From there can quickly get to MK or Epcot.

Good luck with your decision and it’s ROFR for any resort you choose.

Just going to add that we are still waiting to find out if the new Poly tower will be a new association or part of current PVB.

If it is new, there is a good chance that resale points bought since 2019 won’t be able to book it. Sales won’t start until 2024, as it is not scheduled to open until late 2024.

So, most likely, it won’t be known for about a year. Many people are still buying Poly because they are happy with what is there now and if it’s restricted it doesn’t matter.

The prices are still pretty good right now and DVD rarely exercises ROFR on the resort.

Poly. LOVE it. Have stayed at Poly since the year it opened. Much nostalgia for our family.
Very relaxing atmosphere.
One year we switched from a BLT studio to a Poly studio. DH walked into BLT and was shocked how big it was vs BLT (but still loves BLT also for different reasons).

Wish it had 2 toilets in the 2 washrooms and that would have make it perfect.

Only one negative: It gets insanely dark at night and sometimes easy to get confused where your longhouse is. We’ve wandered a couple of times. We felt silly.

PVB and RR owner here. Love to split stay, starting at PVB and ending at RR.

Love Poly’s pools, dining, torches, beaches, easy walk from DVC villas to TTC for monorail to Epcot, multiple boat options to MK, easy parking on DVC side. I enjoy the views of MK and fireworks and seven seas lagoon from Poly more than at GFV. I mean c’mon you can see the castle well from the lava pool with a lapu lapu in hand.

Thank you everyone, I like the fact it’s only studios and they sleep 5 and have 2 showers. Trying to convince the wife!
If you don’t mind squeezing in, having 3 sleeping surfaces and 2 showers can save you quite a bit compared to larger rooms with similar space.

Tell your spouse that you’ll be able to sell in 5 or 10 years and possibly get all your purchase price back.

Non-owner but Poly lover. The only reason we didn't buy in was we love 1BRs for longer stays. Seems like that may get resolved with PVB2 but who knows about the same association thing. The rooms are BIG and the pools are awesome. Capt Cook's is one of our favorite QS restaurants. We love trying to get into Trader Sams and would only do it when we stay there. The beach is amazing and has quick transportation. The only downside is when it rains and you have to get to the main area by going outside.

Poly owner with direct and resale points. Love it for our family of 3, the studios are huge and dual bathrooms are fantastic. If travelling with more than 4 in your party I'd wait and see how the tower situation shakes out before buying in. Own at BWV as well and usually do split stays, Poly nights MK/AK/some Epcot, BWV Epcot/HS.

Although poly was always my favorite monorail resort before becoming a member and naturally what I leaned towards, one MAJOR low key factor for me was the 5 minutes walk to the TTC's Epcot monorail and ferry boats to MK (I find them much more enjoyable than the monorail during peak times of day). Not having to take 2 monorails to Epcot is a huge advantage in my mind, and the DVC buildings are located right next to the TTC. This is huge for us since our favorite resort BWV expires in 2042 which is roughly when I'll be retiring. While technically GF and BLT can get you to MK and Epcot, Poly is the only one that can get you to both without a transfer.

If you favor MK and Epcot, like the theming, and studios are enough for most of your stays, it is hands down the best resort to own.

PVB was our first and now one of 3, we don't stay there that much anymore because we got spoiled by 1 bed rooms, we thought we would just do studios so it was great ...but don't let the 1 bedroom addiction start!

I can’t even stay in a studio with two and sometimes not even by myself anymore!!

Maybe why I am at 900 points!!! Lol

I thought room service never came back after Covid. VGF has room service.

On the subject of Poly (and sorry to OP if this isn't directly relevant to you) as I'm also looking at it as a possible first buy: Do any of you have experience booking 2 connecting studios at Poly? Is that easy to do?

I haven’t actually done it but 99% of the reports have said they got them. It is a request and not guaranteed but it’s as close to one as you will get!

It will be interesting to see what they decide with towers.

  • 2004 SSR opens, 2009 THV added to SSR.
  • 2006 AKV Jambo opens, 2009 Kidani added to AKV.
  • 2000 VWL (now BRV) opens, 2017? CCV opened but became different association for obvious reasons.
  • 2013 VGF opens, 2022 VGF2 added to VGF
  • 2015 PVB opens, 2025? Poly tower addition either becomes part of PVB similar to (SSR, AKV, and VGF additions) or it becomes it's own association.
