What does a depression mean in terms of general Disney area weather? Anything? Nothing?
A depression is not horrible in terms of wind. It would be probably about 35 mph. The rating of a hurricane on the SSS is determined by wind speed, so if its only a depression there will be some wind, but it won't be named and it won't be really damaging. It could dump quite a bit of rain though.

Hearing SO many U.K. accents here already and I haven't even been in the parks yet. People on the August thread were saying they were hearing a lot and think that's a big part of why crowds have been a bit higher than is normal for this time of year.
Oh man... British Accents are such a downfall for me. Don't tell me that lol.

I saw a FL friend post about this and figured I would come here to see your thoughts lol I realize there are a ton of 'IFs' here but IF this was to turn into a system and IF it was to go to Florida what is the timeframe? Flying in Saturday and feeling the stress lol
According to NOAA they expect it to be near land over the weekend, but if the winds are low and there isn't an issue with lightening, I wouldn't worry to much about flying in. If it does stay in range of of a depression that's likely the case. Rain isn't going to be cancelling flights, possibly delays though. MCO has strict rules with lightening, but its Florida.... it rains all the time, they get through that. If it drifts into tropical storm level, then its going to be dependent upon how intense it is inland. The spaghetti models right now look like it will be above the Bahamas and either pretty far north Florida or even into Georgia. If that's the case, Orlando probably will be just fine. I'd expect flights going in might need to go a bit of a different path to approach though.

@karen4546 - Sending your husband healing vibes!! I hope you also have a serious talk with his GP about never scheduling that colonoscopy or sending him to a gastro. I know it could all be related to the appendix, but my goodness to have such awful follow through and not think he needs more testing is just lazy and poor judgement on their part.

Here now and definitely agreed that there are a ton of UK accents. They opened up a package with a dining credit (not the real dining plan) pretty recently for UK, right? Looks like it's working!

We'll be at the EP deluxe hours, too. Fingers crossed for a good night!
It’s school summer holidays over here until early September, it’s also the first summer people have been able to go so that’s probably why! The U.K. has historically had dinging credit deals for the last few years!

so, some stuff has been going on for us and it looked like we may have to cancel our September trip. we still may but it is up in the air atm.

DH has been having issue with his abdomen area The past 6 months or so.
he has been to his GP many times and she has put Him on Clearlax- December. He went for a CT in January 2022 and it was normal.

April the pain got worse again and she changed him to Miralax- she said it was fecal matter and she said she would schedule colonoscopy. She didn’t. But, he did get some relief and had BM twice a day, so DH was hoping that was the issue.

fast forward to 9/19 and DH is having pain in abdomen and his doctor could barely touch his stomach without him shouting in pain. She said it is a pinched nerve and gives him a steroid shot, antibiotics, and RX steroid.

on 9/24 the pain was so intense that he goes to the ER. They do a CT and the doctors say he has a large malignant Cancer mass where his appendix is “supposed to be. DH said where is my appendix then? DR and nurse said “that’s a good question”.

so now we went from excess fecal matter, to pinched nerve to Colon Cancer…

admitted to the hospital on 9/25. He has the colonoscopy and they are hoping to get a biopsy of the mass and check to see if he has Crohns. They find one polyp but can not do a full procedure because the mass if blocking the appendix area/colon.
9/26 he has surgery and this DR also says “cancer”. He removed a portion of his colon and the fist size mass that includes his appendix. i ask the doctor if his appendix had ruptured and he said yes. He said he didn’t know long ago. i told the doctors in the ER that he didn’t have any of the common symptoms of colon cancer like blood in stool, tar like stool, etc. and I really felt like it was his appendix had ruptured and they said they would know that it was ruptured. even though the CT in January said it was normal. i know I am not a medical professional, but i don’t know why this didn’t show up sooner.

we won’t know the pathology results until today or tomorrow. DH has to Pass gas, have a BM, and able to control pain with oral meds before he can go home. He has been walking with his IV pole since last night to try and hopefully get the gas moving. He is on antibiotics, morphine, Tylenol 1000mg, and oxycodone Q4 prn.
I know we are not out of the woods yet and something could show up on the pathology report, but my hope and belief is still that this is an anomaly and he is so very fortunate to have not suffered the effects of the burst appendix in the worse way.

DH is the one saying he is getting well before our schedule vacation in 4 weeks, but I would be ok selling the 6 night stay or trying to bank the points with MS.

He is sitting in the chair right now looking at the F&W app…. sipping apple juice.

he is a strong active healthy 53 yo man except for this.

you guys keep posting your excitement and anticipation! And have amazing trips! The magic is still there and if we can’t make it this month, we will be back as soon as we can.

❤️
Let's hope whatever it is, he still feels well enough to travel so you can make your trip. I'm a cancer survivor and even if the results are not what you hoped, there are many options out there today for him. I'm glad he's feeling well enough to look at the F&W offerings, it's a good sign!

He is trying to walk with his IV pole as much as possible so that he can get some of the gas to release. They did have to remove I believe 12-14 inches of his colon- he said the doctor said 18” ? He has 3 smaller incisions and one larger incision where they removed the mass.

Thank you.

Y’all keep posting good stuff about your trips and your plans. Love the planning :)

Big hugs and lots of love and prayers: complete healing, strength, quick recovery, and that you get to make the trip!
I had a hysterectomy last November and had the same requirements for discharge. So much walking! The nurses eventually made me take breaks. I’ve never tried so hard to 💨. 😂

Arriving 9/17. Ordered magic bands 7/30. When do I need to officially worry that we won’t get them in time?
You might want to call Merchandise Guest Services: 877-560-6477
Their hours are Monday-Friday, 9AM-8PM eastern.
I had to call twice last week. Have your order number ready. The call is super quick.

I finally got the last reservation I need for next week! My planning is almost complete! I’m still researching QS locations around WDW, especially breakfast in the parks. This was supposed to be my unplanned trip but that idea didn’t last long. 😂 We’ll probably leave our first park of the day around 10AM-2PM everyday when the crowds typically pickup. We’ll take a good break and then head to a different park around 4-6PM.
Saturday (arrival, driving): stop at Icon park to get Gordon Ramsey’s Fish & Chips for lunch. We’ll probably hop to another resort for QS dinner, TBD.
Sunday: Rope drop AK before 10:45AM Boma breakfast, hop to MK for 6:30PM Skipper Canteen dinner
Monday: 7:30AM Steakhouse 71 breakfast before 9AM KTTK tour. Dinner will be F&W snacking before deluxe magic hours.
Tuesday (rest day): resort hop snacking and maybe lunch at Riviera (QS), 6PM Shula’s Steakhouse
Wednesday: breakfast in Epcot, hop to AK mid-afternoon, 8:25PM Sanaa dinner - I plan to linger as long as they’ll let me in Pandora and then around the tree. It’s so beautiful at night but the park closes at 7PM. Maybe go to MK deluxe magic hours if we can manage.
Thursday: Genie+ day extra early entry so grab and go before HS or an early QS lunch before a big nap and then 6:30PM Space 220 Lounge.
Friday: MK before 1:15PM Steakhouse 71 lunch - this is a party day and I’m betting we’ll get everything we want to do one last time done before lunch. Might try to hop to HS before dinner/snacking at F&W again.
Saturday (departure, driving): 10:55AM Ale & Compass brunch

Epcot was nice and quiet all morning yesterday with crowds increasing in the evening. Our boarding group for Guardians was called over 3 hours earlier than the estimated return time we were originally given so that was a nice surprise. Pretty much walked on everything else except Frozen. Waited about 20 minutes for that during the EMH last night. Lot of UK accents still, more than I’ve ever heard during a trip. Fun to listen to!

Didn’t get to bed until almost 1am so resting this morning before heading to MK for our party day! We’ll probably take a break in the Grand Floridian lobby before the party. Our feet are feeling it already and it’s only day two!

@karen4546 sending hugs your way! I hope your husband is able to come home soon.

5 day outlook about the same, although there's another storm with a good formation chance right behind our one in red. The good news is while they have high % of formation, they're only still looking at a depression and not tropical storm.

In other good news, I expect my MB+ to arrive as soon as today with the latest being project for Thursday. Cutting it close, but I'm still happy it will be in time.

Ok, its finally time to pack! I was holding off until after my cleaning lady came today. I waited till the place looked perfect before I basically destroy it all with putting everything out to get ready lol. :rotfl2: All that stuff I've been jamming into my guest room can finally come out along with my lists.
I've been packing today too! Finally narrowed down which shirts I want to wear (decisions, decisions, lol) so now clothes are just about packed. Remembered I forgot to wash my polka dot dress for MNSSHP, so did that and just put it up to hang dry. DD I think is planning to pack her clothes after work today.

I have a packing question since my last two trips were not swimming weather..... do they have towels by the pool or should I bring one?
