Candy Cane Inn reopening date?

I booked a stay from Dec 15th to Dec 18th knowing it probably would be cancelled , definitely was and now have a 50% off each night through 2024. I am an Inspire keyholder through September so will come in handy..eventually lol.

They just cancelled my 12/19-12/21 stay. Had a back up thanks to this board but yeah I’m with you, I’m sick of how this was handled. Kind of nice experiencing new hotels though!
What did they offer you? 50% off? Wondering what they could even offer next.

Was this they first time they cancelled on you?

We have never stayed there, but I booked for President's Day weekend. They were the only hotel with decent prices still. I did book a back up though.

We are becoming familiar with a lot of the neighboring hotels!
There is a lot to be said about this. I helped family members plan a trip and had my heart set on sending them to CCI for a Disney magic vacation but it was clear it wasn’t coming together.
They ended up somewhere else I picked and the hotel blew them away, honestly as much as I think CC would have.

How many people have been converted?

Discounts!!!

Well they've lost me as a customer forever. I've canceled multiple stays with them since Disneyland reopened. One trip was canceled due to them not being opened. I sent an email in November that they were losing business with this delayed remodel nonsense and all they did was cancel the reservation with no reply.

Regardless. We found a great home hotel that works for us.

This whole process has been so strange.

Which hotel did they end up at that they loved?

What's your new home hotel?

The update today is possibly Dec 20. Was going to be the first time staying there and was really excited. I wonder if there is still active construction happening or is it just a permit thing?

We just came back from 5-day stay at Hyatt and probably won’t return to Candy Cane…lots more amenities at the Hyatt, great staff, HOT breakfast, and our room was HUGE , way more room than CCI.

While it was way too cold to use pool, that area looks very nice.

Price difference was not substantial for what we got (we had a kitchenette suite).

Did you walk to the park or drive?

We were at Disneyland this past week (5-9) and ended up at Springhill Suites since our Candy Cane ressie was canceled. We walked by it each day and it looks pretty ready. There were people working the front desk each time we passed. I must say that extra street to cross from Springhill Suites and the lack of a free shuttle really made a difference at our age (we're in our 60s) and I will gladly go back to CCI once they open!

Ditto. We have been staying at the Springhill for the last 4 trips to DL. The breakfast is obviously better than CCI but I didn't like crossing Katella, parking charges, and paying $300+ per night. We will gladly be back at the CCI when it reopens. I always will prefer the small mom/pop type places rather than the corporate owned hotels. The CCI reminds me of our other favorite place in California, the Kon Tiki Inn in Pismo Beach.

Which Hyatt? Place or House?

Have you thought about trying Majestic Gardens? They have a shuttle and their rooms in the main building are pretty dang large and comfy! There's a couple of restaurants on the property in the main building as well. A few of their shuttles are old and run down (think retired school busses), but they have smaller ones that are nicer. It's definitely not walkable, but the shuttle comes 2+ times an hour (supposed to be leaving the hotel at :00 and :30, and leaving the parks at :15 and :45) but they often have them going more frequently. Just a 5-8 minute shuttle ride to the bus drop off area.

I've got psoriatic arthritis and normal arthritis in my hips, so I completely understand how helpful a shuttle can be! Majestic Gardens has become my go-to of I can't get a good price on Harbor.

We tried Park Vue - good location and easy parking, but no breakfast (although a coffee machine in the room) - we were just Highly irritated by the "mostly" hidden Resort Fee of $10 per night since they like to promote they have no parking fee. I'd rather pay an obvious $15 for parking (ie: Best Western), than a sneaky $10 resort fee.

Yeah, their taxes and fees are a little outrageous and they don't show them until you get to the checkout page with is annoying. They also require a down payment which makes it kinda hard to plan ahead too far if you're going to visit a few times a year. In the end, we're still going with them because everywhere else had something we didn't like.
