Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

It depends on where the game is. If it’s closer to the west coast they typically go to Disneyland. This year it’s in Arizona. Last year was also Disneyland with the game being in Los Angeles. It’ll also likely be Disneyland next year with the game in Las Vegas.
Wow..I didn't realize that. I thought it was always Magic Kingdom.

South America region in DAK. Encanto themed attraction with Antonio’s room as the focus of at DAK or some interactive Casita experience If you do a South American pavilion in EPCOT. UP themed dark ride exploring Venezuela. Also no problem fitting in Emperor’s New Groove into the concept.
Dinosaur is either casita or just becomes Indiana Jones because it’s easy to clone

Restaurant-a-saurous becomes Kronk or Juliette themed

Flat ride replacement for triceratops spin either up house or Antonio’s animals themed

Another attraction/experience built from the ground up in primeval whirls footprint ….(original concept or off the shelf design)

A fourth attraction/experience replacing carnival games

Replace Nemo (Encanto show fifth attraction/experience to better flow between Asia/South America)

Pepper in some meet locations and maybe an animal encounter

We need a “pull the lever, Kronk!” coaster!

Elemental Nature Refresh Brings New Parts to Savi’s Workshop at Hollywood Studios

New Elemental Nature parts have debuted at Savi’s Workshop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and we dropped by recently to take a look! The new Elemental Nature scrap metal parts are the final set to be refreshed this year following refreshes to the Power & Control, Peace & Justice, and Protection & Defense.
These look cool, but it does make me appreciate more the first gen saber parts I got when we did the experience.

ALL OF THIS!!!!!

Yea and that's also why I don't believe adding 5 new IP Lands would be met with much disgust. Just give us something.

Also can't wait for Epic IP Universe.

It's not about the IP at all. People like me who complain about it is how they fit them into the parks. All the parks are slowly becoming the same which is an extension of MK. I get it most people don't care about the theme of the parks and just want something new.

The IP at Epic Universe each has their own land and fits into the land they are in and the parks theme.

Contrast that with adding Zootopia to Animal Kingdom. It doesn't fit the theme of that park at all.

Agreed, confirming adding IP doesn't bother you "at all" and it's just how its implemented is exactly how I feel. The better the attraction is far more important, location for me is secondary.

But the fact remains that they are Disney and running a Disney Park, and are directing the creation of Disney attractions-pretty much means we will only see Disney IP going forward. Let's hope it's done well.

As a Disney guest that is what I want to see. I do want to see Zootopia, Encanto, Moana, Coco and Villain Lands.

I can't give US a pass for putting Mario, How to Train your Dragon, Frankenstein and Harry Potter in Epic just because the park is called "Universe".

But I also don't really care, because they all sound fun as something and new regardless.

I mean would it be OK (comparable) to change the name to Animal Kingdom Universe so they can add Zootopia? You can always avoid walking toward the Zootopia Land etc if it bothers you that much.

I do think I can give a pass to WDW for adding those 5 Lands they talked about pretty much anywhere they want, but I think they are choosing correctly.

Agree with all of that. I would be more forgiving of where the IP was going if it's done right and is a good attraction. Outside of Rise and Guardians they haven't been as impressive as they one were. A good example is Web Slingers as DL. It's an upgrade to Toy Story Midway Mania. What makes it worse is that Spiderman at Universal is a lot better and much older.

That's my issue with how the implement IP into the parks now. I know everyone goes on about all the new stuff Iger has put in the parks since he's taken over. IMO only a handful of the new additions have been impressive. They have focused too much on getting IP into the park and less on making a good attraction. What bugs me is how the international parks get the good attractions and the domestic parks get what's left.

I will add that IMO Pandora is a great addition including FoP. I would go on that every time I visit AK if it wasn't 120 minutes all the time (same with Slink and 7DMT). Oh and if it were open at night-add some colored lighting.

And haters can simply not make that left turn if they don't like it.

But what's your take on Universal using the name Epic Universe to simply be able to add any kind of attraction in the universe. That's not a theme (Park) at all. But I still can't wait.

I just realized IP based attractions are so popular, Universal went and build a whole park just for them. I'm honestly kinda excited for the Monsters section, my dad would love it.

I don't mind the name. Sure they can add any kind of attraction in the universe but I would bet they would still make any new attraction fit into the land it's going in. It's no different then how Islands of Adventure is setup. I would bet once Epic Universe is done they will work on changing the Studios park and updating it.

I will give Universal credit in that since the mess that is Fast and Furious that their newer additions have been well done. From Life of Pets in Hollywood, Velocicoaster and the Nintendo stuff they have had a lot of hits. They have turned a corner recently in making good attractions that are fun and well themed

Everyone bringing up Emperor's New Groove just makes me want another sequel, somebody tell Bob to do that over another Toy Story (let the toy's rest man). Kuzco could be a new dad and his kid goes missing, him and Pacha can team up on another trek to find them all the while Kuzco is worrying if he's cut out to be a dad. Step in Pacha teaching life lessons as a fellow Dad. Meanwhile back in the palace Kuzco's wife figures out the baby drank one of the left over potions of Izma and calls in Kronk and the troop to help find the kid. Izma has been trying to be good and now has a crisis of conscious as she can now access her lab and make the human potion again.

Build a log/water ride in Animal kingdom with potential drop at end from Palace. Done, I'll wait for my check Disney.
