Marathon Weekend 2024

Late in posting, but was able to register myself for another Goofy and my DD for her first HM!

Blood pressure and heart rate are starting to return to normal after that stress. Was compunded by work flaring up at the wrong time despite me being on "do not disturb" mode. Was able to get registered but had to stop trying to follow the board here as I couldn't keep up. I have little doubt my chances of having a heart attack are much greater from the registration process than the races themselves.

Agree that seeing the community here help one another out was fantastic and one of the reasons I am on these boards. I'm somewhat surprised how fast things went, but I guess not shocked since it seems to be the norm for now. Hopefully everyone here got what they wanted (or close to it). I haven't seen many posts here yet where anyone was completely shut out, so I think that's a win.

Agreed! We need to add a couple of nights now that I’m in for the half but there is no more availability for our room size at one of our home resort right now and we’d need to transfer points to make the other work. How fast do you think things will fill at 7 months?!? 😬

Last year our waitlist came through in September for the Poly for 4 nights. I wasn't able to switch at 7 months and had to stalk. I had gotten 2 night OKW & 2 nights Saratoga so my husband was thrilled we didn't have to split say. This year he said Grand Resort studio or Poly so fingers crossed! He's obsessed with taking the monorail to the races now.

I did not register for races today (it's just not on the schedule for 2024) but I have to say I was so touched by all the amazing posts by everyone on this thread. 🥹 Honestly, it was so heart-warming because registration can be so stressful if you aren't in Club RunDisney or a perfect runner. I hope everyone got what they wanted...AND, I hope the same support is available for Princess Weekend 2024 registration! 😂 I am going to try to register for that in June. I don't know if it will sell out as fast (probably) but we will see.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I got in for Goofy today and had a few spare queue links I wanted to share, but when I tried to post them I got an error stating that the message content looked like spam. I suppose I need to have a certain number of posts before I can include a link? If so, I better reach that threshold before next time :)

WELCOME to the light, friend! And congrats on your Goofy registration. I believe you have to have 10 posts to DM or post links, so you're well on your way.

Fresh off of my marathon registration, I was checking out the Galloway training plans.

When did he drop it to 3 days a week, with only one run longer than 30 minutes? Was this approved by DopeyBadger?
I used his training for the Princess 10k and it worked really well for me. But for longer races I don't know how well it would work, so I'm going to look into another training plan.

I think I'm going to look for something in the 4-5 day a week range. 3 days a week seems a bit low for my liking.

I’ve used the Hal Higdon Dopey plan several times, and think that it’s great to get prepared for multiple consecutive long runs. I would highly recommend a good base going into the training, since the very first long run is a half marathon. Increasing your weekly mileage too much leaves you vulnerable to injuries.
