Current Magical Beginnings promotion with Direct

I just got our docs through Docusign and am reading them now to confirm, but yes, no joke my Guide got us the extra $1250 discount. It's a total of $5250 ($4000 developer credit on 200 pts + $1250 Visa credit).

I wanted to wait and see it in writing and sure enough. I'm stoked!

Our Guide said when the deals expire, they're still there, just have to get them approved to be added. I imagine that's a generalization and simplification of what she did, but she did it.

What is the developer credit? Is that the incentives off the 230?

How do we get the Visa credit? Use a Visa card for purchase?

The "developer credit" is the reduction from the incentives. Regular rate for VGF right now is $217/pt. The current incentives are $20/pt on 200 pts, so it becomes $197/pt. That 200 pts * $20/pt = $4,000 for the "developer credit" which is how it's listed in the settlement docs / contract docs I'm reviewing now.

They're calling it a developer credit and I'm used to calling it the incentives.

The Disney Visa credit ($1250) was earlier in April for new members buying 250+ pts. Someone mentioned getting it with add-on at 175 pts earlier this week, well after the expiration date of the promo, so I asked my Guide if it was possible for me too. She got it approved and added on to the contract as a credit. Pretty great!

Here is more info on the Visa promo from last month:

Does the entire contract payment have to be on the Chase card, or can it be just a portion?

I'm not sure, but the weird thing was I just had to prove I had a Disney Visa. After that, I think I could have given the Guide a different Visa #. Didn't seem like using the Visa was required. But I still did for the 6 months no interest.

I used my CSR as well because it has been reported to be classified as travel. Since it looks like you are a step ahead of me, please do report back when it is official on your account so I can feel better about putting a large chunk on this card for the extra points.
I used my Chase Sapphire Preferred when we purchased our AKL contract in 2021, and then I’ve used it for dues too since then, and the charges have all been classified as travel. Should absolutely be the same on the CSR.

I'm so tempted to buy 100 Grand Floridian points with the magical beginnings!! Except I am already in ROFR for two contracts... 😩

I believe the magical beginning begins at 150. And that’s why I just bought a bunch of extra points I didn’t necessarily want 🤣
I wonder if they'd be willing to bank points past the banking deadline. I have a September use year and could rent the '22 points myself for a good amount if they were banked into 2023.

In the past when buying new contracts they usually will honor the banking if owners requested it. But if you’re going to rent might as well sell it back to Disney because $22 is on the high end of what most rentals are going for. With zero effort.

So true, I will definitely if I get 150, but I was thinking if I stick with 100 points instead of the 150 minimum they might bank them into 2023.

I thought the developer credit for 200 pays at VGF was $12. I am surprised to see $20. Was that what you were expecting?

So, I know there was at least one person if not a few on this thread who were awaiting Poly2 to buy direct, but because of the current buyback incentive, pulled the trigger on GF instead. I (we..hubby and I) am one of those people that was planning on potentially buying direct when Poly2 goes on sale, but I am debating buying now instead. Buying now was not on my radar until I heard about the current MB incentive. Financially, it would be a bit better for me to wait, but it’s not a deal breaker. I posted previously here about the costs of buying now vs waiting for Poly2 when costs, esp considering the current incentive, will undoubtedly be higher. However, I think my main consideration, aside from cost, and what is probably making me want to buy GF now over waiting for Poly2, is whether or not it will be in the same association. I don’t want to buy Poly2 if it is restricted, so this has me thinking that going with GF right now is the safer bet…not only would I get unrestricted points, but a pretty good incentive as well. However, if Disney were to announce right now that Poly2 will be a part of the current association, I would wait to buy there. Anyone else on the fence? FWIW, we already own resale at BCV and didn’t think we cared about direct/blue card, etc., until we did.
I read on the FB Poly 2 is rumored to be its own association based on permits filed. it may have something to do with he bungalows. Might be worth looking into.

We were waiting for ploy 2, but between the incentives and the fact we already own at VGF, the MB is what finally pushed us to just add on at the GFV.

things we consider VGF vs. Poly 2
Cost:
$175 vs $210ish (they most likely won't under sale VDH)
(bonus they added the visa discount for us)

comparing studios -
- both have connection rooms
- resort studio VGF sleep 5 adults comfortably ( no hitting shins on the pull down in the resort studio) most the extra space at the poly was used in the bathroom space.
- choices of studios resort or deluxe at VGF
-When traveling with 2 teenage girls bathroom mirror and counter space is a premium ( poly was limited on counter space.)
- lots more studios at poly. harder to get studios at VGF

11mo window-
we already owned 150 at VGF so being have to have more point at the 11mo window was a bonus for us.

point chart maybe higher at the poly 2 VS VGF 1

Overall money talks. we just couldn't turn VGF down at that price and knowing 100% the resort studios fit our needs when we travel with our daughters and the deluxe studios, 1 & 2bedrooms are always there at the 11mo. window if we need those too!

Thank you for your thoughts on this. My husband and I have been debating back and forth on what we should do and we’ve decided to pull the trigger now on GF. There are just too many questions surrounding Poly2 and you know what you’re getting right now with GF. It checks a bunch of boxes for us and I’m pretty sure I won’t be kicking myself later for doing this.

We made a similar calculus except we were only looking resale because we didn’t know about magical beginnings and already have a blue card…we almost took a Poly contract at $130pp (missing 30% of this years points), but ultimately decided on a VGF contract at $150pp (with 1/2 of last year banked— it makes them very comparable true cost wise—and we liked the certainty of knowing it was a resort with a good mix of studios and villas, many with gorgeous views.

Once my husband stops being annoyed about dropping $18k on VGF, I’ll probably start aggressively deal hunting on Poly again though…here’s hoping for a flash sale.

That's a good price on VGF resale with banked points.

How often do those flash sales happen at a random resort like we just saw with AKL? I haven't been following DVC long enough to have seen another.

Prior to the pandemic, not very often. But since then, we have seen a few each year…but I would not expect one anytime soon with VDH on sale.

Question on MB for February UY

Would I still pay dues on 2023 if those points are bought by Disney? I haven’t gotten a clear answer on that yet.
