Went to DISNEY SPRINGS last month to get some pins...came back with a new home!!!!!!

So I treated my folks to a trip to Orlando to see some of our family and friends who they hadn't seen in quite a while.

In the course of that week I went quick one day to visit DISNEY SPRINGS and it was a total downpour!!

But I loved it, and the rain felt so cold and sooooooooooooo good. I didn't even get to see all of Disney Springs as I did not want to drag the folks around all day lol.

But later that week,I purchased a home in Clermont, Florida...not too far away from Disney in a gated community.

Construction starts in a week and it will be finished come winter!!!!!!!

I am beyond excited. I live in Brooklyn, NY and I am a teacher. I will not be leaving to live there full time until retirement in 10 years(teachers pay and my pension factored majorly into that decision). HOWEVER I will be spending my summers there, plus all the weeks and 4 day weekdends I have throughout the year. Which as a NYC teacher, I get a lot of.

I am visting Orlando next week, again. I am going to check on the plot where my house will be once again and also visit DISNEY SPRINGS again to explore solo. I also have the PIXAR 30th Anniversary Pin Trading Event next Saturday. Beyond excited. Not sure if this is the best place to post this thread, feel free to move it, thank!.....ttyl guys.
 
As we say at DVC - Welcome Home!
3rd generation native Floridian here, been here long before Disney in Cali was built, and lived within one hour of WDW since I was 3 except for time away at college.
If you haven't looked into DVC ownership you might want to check it out, it is a great way to vacation within WDW on just short get trips.
If you do look into DVC, be sure to so your research up-front and not make a hasty/quick decision. Over on the DVC board you can find lots of people who will answer your questions and guide you into making a decision that is right for you.

We only had to wait 4 years from the time we bought our place in Davenport and when I retired. We just enjoyed our first snowbird winter.

That must be super exciting. We're using our own upcoming trip as something of a ping to see if my husband would want to live there. I partially grew up in Florida and was born there. Haven't been "home" in 20 years and it's really, really nice to be going back.
 


All the best to you. That is so exciting. MY BIL and SIL moved to a 55+ in Davenport this past October. We have been to visit them twice since then with another trip planned in October of this year. We love their development and hope to move there in a year or 2 when we also retire. We looked in Clermont (Heritage Hills) and loved the area and the development. We have not made our final decision yet as to which development we will buy in but have enjoyed exploring the areas. Clermont is so pretty and there is so much to do there. Looking forward to hearing more.

NH to FL - where did you buy in Davenport. My BIL and SIL are in the Del Webb development and just love it. We are all from NY (Queens).

We are in the West Haven development, near Champions Gate. Mostly short term rentals but slowly converting to full time residents and retirees.
 
Very nice NH to FL. We have friends that are near there and went to visit them last year. Very nice over there and I like that side of Rt 4.

Funny you say that, that's where I bought my home!!

I arrived in Orlando yesterday and hit up the Character Warehouse...heading into Disney Springs later this morning.

That's awesome. Had you planned on buying a home in the area or just kind of ran with it as the opportunity presented itself?
 
That's so wonderful. The first time we went there my DH asked where I felt I was and I said Italy and he said the Napa region of CA. Best wishes and look forward to hearing more about your new home (we liked the Hamilton model).
