Medical emergency

I agree with the majority opinion expressed here that it is in no way disrespectful for someone to inquire about an incident(s) that happened on a Disney cruise, especially one they were on. I'm sure all of us posting and reading here have either been to Castaway Cay or will be going soon, so if something happened there we'd like to know because it could potentially effect future plans to go there.

There have been a couple of Disney cruises we have been on where death has happened suddenly. One was at CC (either last September or January this year) It always makes us so sad.
We feel so much compassion for the families and friends who are suddenly left behind to handle the loss and stress. In those times we realize that enjoying each and every moment of our time together is important. And I like to believe that though the families will have the memory of their loved one dying, that they will also have the good memories of the times that they spent with them prior.

I was on this cruise. I didn't see the incident happen but walked by as they were doing CPR and heard a woman screaming. People were crying on the beach. I think a lot of us are just praying for the family. I didn't hear any announcement on the ship about a delay and I asked a couple lifeguards on board if they had any news but both said they didn't. I hadn't heard about a man having a heart attack. Very sad.

They announced the delay as we were waiting for the elevators for the 5:45 dinner. They started with the normal message and then at the end said that that the reason we hadnt left port yet was because of a medical emergency.

We were on this cruise and heard of the medical emergencies. My husband and I ran the 5k in the morning and once we were done I went back to the cabin to shower and change. There was a cryptic announcement on board directed to crew members - something like "bright star (or star bright - I forget which) gangway 1." I knew something was wrong because we have a similar type of coded message when someone has a medical episode at the company where I work. This would have been sometime between 10:30 and 10:45 am. I did not really give it much thought until we were back on board later and some of the crew members made reference to a "most unfortunate" and "worst situation" medical emergency. This was around 5:30 and as the PP wrote, shortly after that the captain made an announcement that we had not departed Castaway Cay yet because they were attending to a medical emergency.

So very sad for everyone involved. I understand the adult passed away, but I hope the youngster is ok.

I believe Bright Star is what they use to term death. ETA, I have also heard Rising Star used.

I've heard Bright Star is for medical emergency, Rising Star is for a death. Rising Star might not necessarily get announced, but I can see how if the Captain was in public, a staff member might call on radio or say to him "we have a Rising Star situation for your attention" rather than "someone has died on board."

We just got off the cruise after this one. I heard both the boy and adult passed but nothing official of course. So scary. I understand adults having heart attacks but something happening on Pelican Plunge? Wow. I wil, say it was crazy hot on Castaway Key.
