Western TA dining times

We are going on the Sept. 2017 western TA to New York from Barcelona and have early dining booked. I know we gain an hour each day. Is early dining preferred for this reason or does it really matter. It will be me, my tween daughter and an adult daughter and her husband.

We are on that cruise, too!!:jumping1: We also were on the 2014 WBTA. Frankly, our bodies had no idea what time zone we were in. We prefer the early seating simply because we don't normally stay up very late and second seating had us finishing our meal too close to going to bed.

We are on the same cruise. We prefer the earlier dining time... We've tried eating at the later, but we end up snacking before, and are to tired to enjoy the actual meal.

Im worried with the early one that I'll fall asleep in the show as food makes me sleepy lol

We often do a couple of laps on deck 4 between the early meal and the show, partly for that reason.

We had late seating on the the TA that bebarked yesterday from Barcelona to NY. I loved gaining an hour each day!! It was great. My body didn't really know what time zone we were in but I liked knowing I had an extra hour to sleep if I wanted it.

We did the EBTA in 2015 and I even though we lost an hour each day it was not horrible. We seem to adapt pretty well. I don't usually get jet lagged either.

Very interested in what you can share about this year's WBTA since the itinerary was new. I'm especially interested in the weather. I assume it was warm while you were in Spain and Portugal- how was it crossing the Atlantic? Was it warm enough to be by the pool?

We did not sit by the pool much at all this cruise. The weather was beautiful in Barcelona and when we went to Portugal the weather was very nice but I did not realize that Ponte Degada, Portugal was not on the mainland of Portugal. It is an island about 1,000 miles into the Atlantic Ocean. We loved this island Paradise. It was just beautiful. A nice surprise.

The rest of the time it was mostly overcast and chilly. The beginning of the cruise was definitely more warm than the second half. We had really rough seas one day where they closed the pools. The water was like a tidal wave in the pools. Even though it was not really pool weather we found tons of stuff to do onboard.

Sounds like a mixed bag! The Azores (Ponte Degada) is on my bucket list as its meant to be so so pretty! This is what I'm looking forward to the most. Did you do a DCL tour at all?

As for the weather, I guess I'm going to need to pack a hoodie lol and sea sick bands just in case again.

It was such a beautiful island. We drove up a mountain and had a beautiful view of the ocean on both sides and of the gorgeous lake in a crater.

We also drove down to the little town by the lake and stopped for a snack. Cute little village there. Would love to go back in June when all the flowers are in bloom along all the roadways.

We did not take any DCL tour. The tour we took on Ponte Delgada was booked right when we got off the ship. It was a very comfortable Sprinter Van we shared with 2 other families. It was 30 euros a person for about 2.5 hours which was just enough for us. We literally booked the last minute as we passed the van being loaded and saw a family we became friendly with onboard and asked if they could fit 2 more on the tour and they could. So glad we did.

Wow, beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing! And I appreciate the input on the weather. In the past, the WBTA went to Florida instead of to Canada, so I was wondering if the trip across would be much cooler. Good to hear you found plenty to keep you occupied, even inside.

I didn't know that was an option, I'm going to call them and ask to be waitlisted for the main dinner time :-)

I've never done it but this is what I've been told you can do. If you don't get changed before you sail you can also ask once you get onboard too.

FWIW, we were waitlisted for main dining on our first Disney cruise and did end up getting Main Dining. I'm trying to remember the timing, etc. -- I want to say it was a few weeks before -- I didn't receive a notification, I think I just check my reservation details and it showed Main Dining.

We're on the same cruise. the early dining is completely filled up - in fact Disney overbooked and moved mine to the late (I will have a 5 year old with me so it might not go over so well)

We were told that because of the timing, people don't tend to pull kids out of school and thus the cruise is teeming is toddlers. That's why the early seating is so popular
