Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT Information & Questions

Hello.

We are just about 2.5 months away from our vacation and are planning the FP+ now.

We wonder how easy/hard to get back to the resort for mid-day break for nap for our DD who is 2.5 yr old.
She sometimes doesn't nap (she doesn't get cranky or anything when she doesn't nap. Nor goes to bed earlier than usual), but I think it will be better for her to nap.

We are wondering whether it is a good idea for her to nap in the stroller (she naps well in the stroller) or come back for her nap.
We know resting at the hotel is more relaxing but also want to save time travelling back and forth to the park as that can be also tiring (waiting for the bus, etc) and my worry is what if she doesn't nap. She needs a lot of time to fall asleep for nap at home and we usually drive around so that she naps.

We are thinking of coming back when we go to MK, HS, and possibly EP.
If coming back to the resort is not the best option, we might go on a train/monorail ride so she can nap. I don't mind carrying her while she naps as long as I can sit somewhere.

Anyone has experience?
I think it will also depend on crowd/wait times. We went back almost every day for 2-3 hours. It was so hot we needed a break. We never waited more then 10 min for a bus either way. Our window looked out of the parking a lot (which I was upset about in the beginning) but I realized I could watch for buses and was able to time them.

Does your kids sleep well in the room? Mine is hit or miss. She sort of needs the motion, but once she's out, she's out. But sometimes she skips naps. When it comes to sleep, it is very unpredictable for her... :(
So it's 10 mins for the bus and 10 mins or so to the parks?

Wellllll, I am going to have to visit the front desk when we check in, I requested a ground floor since my sweet mama is in a wheelchair and can't do stairs and we just got our room assignment and we were assigned a 2nd floor room 4159.
We don't land until 9:30 tonight :faint: I so wish there was a way to call them to try and get them fixed before we get there

Oh dear. I am worried about this too on Thursday.

Awe! Can you try calling the main line and see if anything can be done. When I asked for a different room they called someone else. Maybe they could help due to the circumstances.

Oh my! I hope you can get it sorted out quickly.... can you call the number they have on post #4 (407) 939-7675) when they were talking about the accessible rooms? It's worth a shot!

Mine are older now, but when they were younger they would falls asleep in the stroller or on the bus. The times vary depending on where you stay, first drop off or last. We were in Martinique which is in the middle and magic kingdom is about 20-25 min. Epcot, Disney springs and Hollywood studios 10-15. Animal kingdom about 20. Those probably depend on traffic also.

I have an update!! so here is the lowdown.
I had added requests to my ressie as ground floor, close to a bus stop and
Martinique 22 or Jamaica 44/45. All in that order. We are a party of 5 so I know that can limit us a bit. Our room assignment that we received at 1:45 today was 4159 Jamaica, 2nd floor as far from a bus stop as you can get. So the only request I got was Jamaica. I got a text but I also got an email about 30 minutes later and In the email I found a telephone number to call if we needed assistance so I picked up the phone and talked to a super sweet CM and before I could say ZIPPADEDOODA she had us reassigned to 4520! Ohhh, and I also chose ground floor during on line check in (no other choice) So none of the requests for a ground floor worked. It's all fixed and we are on our way to the airport now!

Great news! Just curious if you told them you needed ground floor for the wheelchair. I called and told them I needed ground floor because of the Walker so hopefully they honor it (in a non stinky room)

Good for you!!!! :)

Please reassure me. I am checking in Thursday to a preferred room and the thread about the smoke smelling room and all the comments others made about similar rooms as well as mildew and mold smelling rooms really has me scared. I have to be in first floor because I have a walker and preferred appears sold out for my stay. I have awful allergies which at this moment are rearing their ugly head. Those smells really make me sick. How common is this really? I am so excited to return to this resort after staying in a pirate room when they were new. We loved it then. I want to love it now. I am not so much worried about the outdoor smoking areas as we will move through them quickly. I am worried about getting such a room and them not changing us to a room where we can breathe. Our flight lands at 12:40 and we plan to be at the MK ASAP for Halloween party (we have AP so we can get in as soon as we can get there). We probably won't get into our room at 1am. Not sure what kind of recourse we will have at that time. I just hope I am putting the cart before the horse.

Here is what I recommend:
Have them TEXT you when the room is ready. You can sign up for this at your online check in. Then when you get the text (whether you are still at the airport or already on your way to MK), check the room location/view on TouringPlans (where they have the interactive hotel maps). If you have an obvious issue with the assigned room (for example: facing smoking courtyard - yes, this will sift into your room and if you have bad allergies, you cannot stand that!... or upstairs while you need downstairs for medical reasons, ...) Call them right then and there.
Don't wait until after midnight, if this is so important to you.

It might take 30 minutes to sort it out, but you'll be glad to have the peace of mind to know where you are going after your Halloween Party!

In general, rooms that are in an area that never gets a breeze, or are never exposed to natural light/the sun, and have faulty AC units, may get mildew issues at any hotel in the world. As far as smoking... guests are not allowed to smoke in the rooms. So I would think that these rooms others have encountered, either had guests smoking illegally inside the room, or guests smoking in the "open doorway" (yes, that will still get into the room), or the room is facing one of the too many "smoking courtyards": when the maids are cleaning they leave the door open for longer and - tadaa- smoke can find its way into your room and clings to the fabrics.

Thank-you so much. I have signed up for room ready text so I will look it up as soon as I get it. Keeping my fingers crossed. Fortunately we will be spending very little time at the hotel but unfortunately it will mostly be in the room sleeping so that is important. I would rather drag the ol' Walker up stairs than have a smoky room. (I am amused that every time I type "Walker" on this site it is auto-capitalized. Wonder if that is because of the company name Walker mobility).

Yes, I did. :guilty: I included it on my reservation and I sent a TP fax explaining my mom is in a wheelchair and unable to climb stairs. Then I said we would love to be close to a bus stop and if there was a room in Jamaica 44/45 or Martinique 22/23 it would be icing on the cake.

When you get your room text, if you also provided your email, they should email you the same thing. There is a telephone number on the bottom of the email. If your room # ends with 1-32/33 it will be on the first floor(some buildings have 32 rooms on the bottom floor, others have 33) If it's higher than 33 then it's on the second floor.
Call immediately to see if they can help before you get there.
Pixie dust for you!

I'm sorry if this is a common question here, but there are 164 pages of posts to sort through. About how long does it take to get from CBR to the Magic Kingdom?

I only ask because the only Be Our Guest reservation available during our stay is at 1 pm the day we get in. We should get to the hotel by 11:30 am and I'm stressing that we won't be able to make the reservation. Anyone with an anxiety disorder can relate, even though the trip is in January we started stressing about it months ago before it was booked!

No matter what I'm going to enjoy the stay. Booked today and got my new bathing suit for hot tub reasons! I can't wait for the pixie dust!

Once the bus pulls out of CBR it is about 12-14 minutes to get to MK. We have always been at the bus stop 60 minutes before we have to be at MK and have never missed an ADR yet. So that would mean being at the bus stop by Noon.

Ok, hopefully we'll work it out!

Thank you
