I am so excited for this member event that's happening next week! In the reservation confirmation that I received, it says, "Detailed directions will be provided in your prearrival information emailed to you prior to the event."

Has anyone who is going received this email yet?

Thanks!

Yes, I got an email but it was only a few days after I registered. My email is dated 8.3.2016. Have you checked your spam folder maybe?

I also received a confirmation email on 8/3. We're excited too! Right after registering I waitlisted a 2BR at VGC and it came through right at the 30-day mark. Can't wait!
PS: I'm loving this rain today. It can rain all weekend, just stop before next Wed.!

Congrats on the waitlist!!!! We were not so lucky but ended up using points to stay at the Disneyland hotel :-)

Rereading my confirmation email, I see that it does say there will be another email with pre-arrival info sent prior to the event. I haven't received that yet.

I happened to speak to Member Services on Monday, she said the email normally would go out a week before the event. I was expecting the email on Wednesday, but so far nothing. Hopefully we receive the email soon!

I just received an update email a few minutes ago. I guess I was a little too anxious! Soooo excited!

I got the email on Friday too. The original confirmation email said that there'd be check-in stations at select Disneyland Resort hotels, but this latest info doesn't list any. I was hoping we could check in at VGC.

So how was the party?
We thought it was G-R-E-A-T! Loved it! Highlights:
  • Complimentary snacks at various carts: popcorn, beverages, frozen treats (Mickey Bars, Chocolate Bananas, etc)
  • Meet the Executives: Ken Potrock and members of the West Coast Management team were present to hear stories, take photos and write down our comments/suggestions/concerns. We spent about an hour between 4 of these folks and really enjoyed this experience!
  • DJ Dance Party
  • Special Photo locations
  • Late night World of Color
  • Dueling Pianos
  • Character Locations
  • A cute "newspaper" special edition handout for the event. Headline: Disney Vacation Club Marks a Milestone.
Our Play by Play:
Arriving around 3P, we started with Gumbo Ya Ya at the Jazz Kitchen. Entering Disneyland on active APs, we grabbed FP for Indiana Jones and rode Pirates, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Nemo (Submarines) and Indy by 6P. We then switched parks. The DVC Event check-in line appeared pretty long, so we entered California Adventure on the APs, enjoyed Grilled Chicken sandwiches at Smoke Jumpers Grill (our first time eating there -- loved the condiment bar with lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, etc.!) and played until park closing hitting Screaming and Tower Of Terror "Late Checkout" version (that is, "in the dark"). Once the park closed, the DVC Event check-in process was "immediate, walk up service" and we were quickly assigned our entry tickets and wrist bands. On re-entry, we enjoyed the complimentary popcorn, rode Soarin' (first time since the mid-summer release of Soarin' around the World), spent time with the Execs, savored a frozen chocolate covered banana, rode RSR and were then delighted by World of Color.

For fun, we wore lanyards showcasing only DVC-related pins. These became fun conversation starters in line -- and we loved meeting fellow members, sharing stories and 'glowing' in our common joy of all-things-DVC.

Event summary: Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner! :D

Adding: The Health App on my iPhone shows that I clocked in 11.2 miles of walking yesterday up from a Monthly average of 6.7 miles/day. Gotta love a day at Disney parks for extra walking incentive! :D

Thank you, DVC Member Event Planners, for creating this opportunity!

It was a fun event. The free snacks and drinks were great. The lines were longer than I hoped they would be, but we live local and have APs so no worries.

We had a blast! Nothing but magic! First, as soon as I RSVPed for the event I waitlisted a 2BR at VGC; that came through at the 30 day mark. We were plenty exited about that but to kick it up even further, at check-in on Wed. we were upgraded to a Grand Villa! So nice! We really felt like VIPs.
The event was big fun. We're used to peak times so we thought waits were short. Loved the complimentary Mickey bars! Great job, DVC!

Wow! Thanks for the reviews and a special thank you for all the details, bwvbound!

We were able to attend this event thanks to some help from another DVC member (shari2137) and Karen one of the DVC reps who works in the Grand Cal. lobby. It was a nice event and well attended. I noticed that they added some more events next year for Disney World. I hope they add some more events for CA, too.

One thing we didn't realize was there was a check in point over by where the Muppets attraction used to be. We had been inside CA Adventure and went outside to join a very long line to get our wrist bands. :) (The line inside the park was very short.) Speaking of the Muppets ride--I'm sad that attraction is no longer there, but the Dr Strange movie preview that was held in the Muppets theater was pretty cool (with the 4D effects :) ). Also, the Moana preview (over in the It's Tough to Be a Bug theater) was pretty cool, too. I think it would be really cool to see the full features in those theaters. :)

Oh--and the parks are looking magnificent! We arrived on 1 Nov and left on 6 Nov and each day we would see more Christmas decorations being put up. There were a bunch of kiosks being installed in CA Adventure (not open before we left) and they were in the process of putting up the Gingerbread House in the Grand Cal lobby (cast member said it will be open on 10 Nov--missed it by that much! :( ) . I love, love, love Christmas at Disneyland!

Oh, man! I also failed to realize there was an in-park check-in location! Rats, we lost a ~20 minutes of time on our decision to use the external check-in location ... but added a few more steps to our health tracking devices, right?? (Gotta find a bright spot!)

So how was the party?

I give them an "A" for the idea of the party, but a "C" for execution. The lines for the rides were really long (45 minutes or longer for RSR, TOT and Soarin'). They didn't have the single rider line open at RSR. That may have been helpful??? The lines for the free snacks were REALLY long at the beginning of the party. After about an hour or so they started getting more tolerable.

The WOC event was fantastic. We were able to get a spot right in the middle, up a few levels from the very front so we didn't get wet. We had seen the show a couple of times before earlier in the week, but always from a side view. If you can get a spot in the middle, I highly recommend it!!
