How old is too old for rides? Mission Space?

Hey, I'm going back to WDW in January for my 60th birthday! I'm reading about young adults taking their Mom's to WDW and wondering what they will do with them that is fun. They need to rent EVCs or wheel chairs? My daughter is 27 and in September 2015 we pretty much rode everything except RRRC and Mission Space. Now, I can out walk my daughter, I am healthy and in pretty good shape. She wont ride RRRC cause it goes upside down. We have never ridden Mission Space due to the nightmare stories we have heard.

How many older adults ride rides? Do you ride Mission Space and have any ill effects? I've ridden everything at US/IOA also! Don't really get motion sickness.

I think it's more about your levels of health than your age necessarily.

I'm late 40's & my mom is in her mid 70's and definitely fitter than me.
However; she has no desire to ride anything...

My dmil nearly 87-would ride anything at all given the chance.
Her mind & body are disconnected beautifully!!!

She doesn't like enclosed spaces-so mission space is out ..
She loved soarin & star tours made her whoop!

Forget to mention-
Our last trip a couple in their 70's rode mission space with us-and immediately went back on again.

You're never too old for rides, though I think one's appreciation for certain aspects of them changes with time. Like, when I was a kid/teenager I hated it's a small world (I mean, you know what it's like in there), yet now I kinda dig it. I appreciate the artistry more and the song has become more meaningful now that I know something about the history of the attraction. I think there's a natural tendency to move away from the rougher thrill rides with age. I mean, I LOVE Space Mountain, but I understand there may come a time where my body simply will not (or so I hear). I'm thinking maybe a nice ride on the Mark Twain Riverboat will have to do, but I'll still love it all the same. At least Mission: Space has the Green Team, so that's an option for less intensity. But, hey, as long as one is still healthy enough, anything is fair game!

Congratulations on your 60th birthday trip!

As married2mm said, it is more about your health than your age. DW and I are in our mid 60's and enjoy WDW. Due to some various medical issues we don't do the rougher roller coasters but have done 7DMT and I have done BTMRR. They are our limit. DW's doctor told her not to go on Tower of Terror. Haven't done Mission Space Green due to claustrophobia. I like Star Tours.

If you have ridden everything at US/IOA then you are ready for everything at Disney. Except maybe Mission Space Orange. The centrifuge is a unique stress on the cardiovascular system. Use your own judgement there.

Definitely never to old! Depends of your health. I can no longer ride anything too rough because of my neck and I'm only 49 yrs old. :( So for me, Space Mtn, Big Thunder Mtn, Everest, RNR Coaster, and Dinosaur, are no goes. (I have only done the tame side of Mission Space, so IDK about that one.) When I was 23, I went to WDW with my gram, and she was 66 and the both of us rode everything at MK, and Epcot.

Well I'm 67 and I have ridden every WDW ride multiple times and I plan to do the same on our next trip! My Mom rode most of the Disney mountains well into her 70s. I agree that it is totally dependent upon each person's health.

Now the thrill rides at Universal are a totally different story!

At 64, I admit that I no longer do skinny rides. However, the next time you see a grandmotherly type solo on Dumbo, Triceratops Spin, or Barnstormer, it might be me. I love the "little kids'" rides

I'm 66. Love BTMRR, Soarin', Space Mountain, planning on the Mine Train in January. Star Tours, Kali River Rapids-both favorites of mine. And Teamboat Springs at Blizzard Beach! I've always hated Splash Mountain and I don't think I'm doing TOT. Went to Disneyland a few months ago and fell in love with the Matterhorn!

As stated, it isn't a matter of age it's a matter of health. I am currently scaring the heck out of 69 years old and I still do everything that there is that I want to do. If I don't do them it is because I simply don't want to, not that I can't. I feel lucky that I have no health issues that prevent me from doing so. I don't get motion sickness, I have no back problems or arthritis or heart issues. That is what would stop me, nothing else.

I should add that I have a touch of COPD so riding the orange is sometimes uncomfortable if I forget to open my mouth and breath. It compresses the chest cavity and make it seem hard to breath. However, breathing through my mouth does seem to solve the problem. If I don't want to bother worrying about that, then I ride the green side and have absolutely no problems with that.

Took to mom her first trip when she was 56 and she rode everything except soarin and dumbo (she hates heights and those were no gos in her mind). She went back two years later and still outwalked my kids.

Love hearing about older adults still enjoying the rides! I will admit my first trip on TOT was a bit intense. It was before the individual lap belts. I was shaking on the exit. My daughter would not ride it again until last year at age 26! I thought she was going have a full blown panic attack while we were in line! I felt so bad for her, I almost took her out before we got in the elevator. She did fine and even said as we were pulling out of the drop shaft, "We have not done the big drop yet! Everyone laughed 'cause they had all tried to comfort her on the way in!

We both were shaking after getting off Forbidden Journey at IOA. That's a wild one for sure!

I do see a chiropractor on a regular basis. She is a big WDW fan. She scolded me after our last trip, the adjustment was rough and she said, "That's what you get for riding roller coasters!" But said if I went again, I had to take her with me!

Will still have to think on riding Mission Space! We were going to do it last trip but it was 98 degrees and miserable humidity. That is enough to make you feel sick without spinning!

Last time I rode Mission Space was 3 years ago (i was 51). It doesn't bother me physically but we often skip it because it does not excite us that much. DH is 8 years older than me and we ride all the thrill rides, including those at Universal. We did Seaworld in Sept and rode Mako and Manta. Space Mtn and TOT are my favorite Disney rides and I do them multiple times each trip. However, the upside down rides I only do once a day because the G forces get to me a bit more now than when I was younger.

It is more personal preference and health restrictions than age.
I am 46. I hate thrill rides. They don't make me sick, but I am not an adrenaline junky. Fast is good. Spinning is good. Dark, enclosed spaces is bad. I will ride Rock n Rollercoaster. I have been on ToT, but never will again. I want to go on Mission Space. Have gotten as far as into the capsule twice. Walked right out the other side.
Hubby is 50 and will ride anything.
Mom & Uncle were mid and late 60's on their last WDW trip. Their only restrictions were rides likely to provoke vertigo and/or motion sickness. Roller coasters were fine. Anything spinning was out.

I'm 58.

I don't like rides that have me upside down or going backwards-- I can't even watch my husband and kids on the teacups.

But Mission Space Green is absolutely no problem. Neither is Test Track, Big Thunder, 7 Dwarves, Splash Mountain, Star Tours ... so many options.

My parents are 68 and 69. We were in wdw last week and they rode everything I rode. My father said he wouldn't do the Speedway again bc sitting in the car hurt his prosthetic hip, but he had no complaints on space Mt, big thunder, etc. My 41 year old DH doesn't like certain kinds of rides, so he sits out. I think it's about the person, their health, what they like, etc more than its about age.

Going to Universal for a day in April, mainly to see Harry Potter. I haven't been there since it 1st opened. Wondering what you mean? What are their rides like?

I'll be 60 in April and have been going to WDW for over 30 years. I don't ride as many rides now and I used to but that is only because my son is now grown so we don't ride the kiddie rides. I stopped riding RnRC about 1 year after it opened. I'm fairly small and short and my head gets bounced around like a ping pong, I used to get off it with the worst headache so it wasn't worth it. I also no longer ride Space Mountain, again with the jerking my head rolls around on my neck. I don't ride Mission Space or Star Tours but that has nothing to do with age, I get sick on those kind of rides, didn't used to ride body wars either. I ride all the other rides though, ToT is our favorite and my son and I have been known to get off it and get back on over and over (5 times is our record). When I go places that have big roller coasters, I still ride them as well. I'm in good health other than osteopenia which gives me some pretty bad neck pain at times but it doesn't bother me to ride roller coasters. Now when I go solo, I don't ride as many rides as when I go with my son but that's just because I'm more focused on relaxing and enjoying the parks and resorts themselves when I'm by myself. I never ride TSMM or Buzz Lightyear when I'm solo but just because I'm not a big fan of archade games. I do ride BTMRR, ToT, EE and Fast track though.
