Just got an email from our planner regarding our 2nd and 3rd date choices, since they are chronologically before our 1st choice. Our 3rd choice is out because the GF convention center is booked by a corporate event. Our second choice was unavailable at the time we wanted (5pm), so the planner reserved 2:30 while we wait to hear about our 1st choice. The 2:30pm really does not work for us. Is it rude to email back with different options? Stressed that our 1st choice will be unavailable and we will have nothing to choose from.

Not rude! Helpful! Give them as many options as possible and you'll have a better chance of getting something you like.

Nope, not rude - so long as you're polite about it! :) You are paying for their services, you should be able to get what you want (or pretty close to it.) I would explain that a ceremony in the middle of the day doesn't work for me or my guests, and elaborate on why if you felt inclined to. I changed my mind multiple times over the course of several weeks, changing venues, dates, AND times before locking in my ceremony and reception locations. I was all over the map (literally) - and I get to find out in a few weeks if it all worked out or not. ;)

I've just spoken to Disney and provisionally booked the date :) Just waiting for our letter of Agreement to come through. When does that come? She said it would be after the phone call but that was over an hour ago. I'm being so impatient but I'm soo excited :D

The LOA is a contract, so it takes a little bit longer to put together than an hour. :teeth:

She just sent me some more details to fill out.

I'm a bit confused because in the phone call she advised me not to book the hotel until I had sent the deposit, just in case.

But in the email she is asking me for the details of my hotel reservation so she can put the LOA together? Did anyone else book after they had sent their deposit?

Are you doing Escape or Wishes? For Escape, you have up to 2 weeks to book the hotel and send back your contract. For Wishes there is no hotel stay required.

It's Escape. I know where I'm staying in Disney and I can't wait to book it, just want to be doubly sure that the Wedding is confirmed first.

It's just the way the email is worded, sounds like she can't put the LOA together until I provide these details.

I'd just book the hotel now, since you can always cancel it later if you need to.

It's a package though so I'm not sure how easy it would be to cancel it without losing the deposit. I emailed asking her last Thursday, then again on Friday. I assumed they don't work weekends but still nothing. :(

You can cancel a Disney vacation package with no penalty up to 31 days before your trip. After 30 days there's a $200 penalty.

Seems to be slightly different for UK visitors annoyingly!

Period before scheduled departure date that cancellation notice is received by us or a deemed cancellation occurs Cancellation charges as a % of total Contract Price note 4
More than 70 days Loss of deposit
70 - 56 days 30%
55 - 36 days 60%
35 - 15 days 80%
14 - 0 days 100%

Sorry I feel like I'm being very whiney! But I'm starting to get bugged by guests about when they should be booking. I don't want to say yeah book it when my date is not set in stone. There are also lots of holiday package sales on at the moment so everyone seems impatient lol (myself included :D )

p.s..... expect a million questions from me once I've got that date haha. You are going to be sick of seeing my name pop up here lol

That's OK! This board is designed for asking questions. You just might want to make a new thread for each.

I would just let your sales consultant know about the stricter cancellation policy for UK guests so she can get you the contract to sign and lock in your date. They will hold your location/time for up to 2 weeks to allow you time to sign and send back the contract.

Hi...This is such an awesome forum! I'm completely overwhelmed and enjoying all the posts. I'm a total Disney freak and so is my fiancé. We were engaged July 2016 and have booked a 7-day DCL Eastern Caribbean wedding/honeymoon for October 7, 2017 on the Fantasy.

Hey Everyone! We just signed our agreement and they took out the deposit for our July 3, 2017, wedding! Super excited. We're doing a SBP escape wedding and then planning a reception dinner @ House of Blues after. :) My fiance and I didn't decide to get married until this Christmas. I guess after dating for 10 years and living together for 7.. it's about time, lol.

I feel like I've achieved lots over the last couple of days.

Booked the flights and hotel (25th Sept - 5th Oct)- Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. I am a little bit gutted there is now going to be construction work as it's my first time in a moderate but I'm sure it won't be too intrusive.

6 of my guests booked their flights and holidays before me! Really pleased :) Have 3 guests who seem to be dragging their heels abit. But at least 6 have confirmed.

Put a hold on Vikings Landing for the Dessert party. I am so excited about this!

Also put a hold on Cape Cod A at Disney's Yacht Club for lunch after the ceremony.I was so worried about not being able to get a private room for my small party size but I love my wedding planner Samantha, she has been super helpful.

Have picked menu and Drinks menu. Going for the Gaston Brunch menu & the wine and beer call list.

Been talking to Renee Silverman about doing our service, have watched a few of her ceremony videos and I'm very excited about her doing it.

Those are all the good things. Some bad things.

My partners face when I told him the cost for the reception. He wasn't impressed but have convinced him it's totally worth it. He's letting me basically plan this and I just ask his questions about stuff. We don't agree on the cake that comes with our Escape package. The one I love he hates, the one he loves I hate - This is still ongoing.

My sister who is not coming to the wedding because of financial reasons, blew her top when she found out my aunt was coming. My aunt didn't come to my sister's wedding two years ago because she just had a massive falling out with my uncle(The haven't spoken since). But she asked if she could come to mine and I said yes because I really want her to be there. I love my aunt! But my sister is very annoyed that she can fly all the way to America for my wedding but couldn't come to hers. I understand her feelings and have tried to explain that it's not because my aunt doesn't like her it was because the falling out was still fresh etc

I Have found a cattery for my cat Jake, I'm going to look at it on Monday. He is 15 years old and having to put him in one for 10 days is heartbreaking. He normally lives at my parents house and because we normally holiday all at different times, he's never been on his own before. I think he's going to hate it but he can't have one of those pet sitters popping in twice a day because he is trained to go to toilet outside rather than a litter tray.

Right so that's my planning update! How is everyone else doing?

There is no standard discount. The amount varies by resort, time of year and day of the week. Sometimes it's better than what the general public discount is and sometimes it's worse. The best it ever gets is about 30% off at Deluxe resorts that have convention centers, about 15% off at other Deluxes, less than 15% off at Moderates, and less than 10% off at Values.
