OT - let the chatting begin....... CHAT thread

I've got the first free weekend I've had for ages - said no to the overtime and plan to get some bits done around the house. Nothing else planned which is what I'm looking forward to. Next week will be busy with work and my cousins wedding on Friday that I'm really looking forward to, so will enjoy the chill time this weekend :goodvibes

Hurray its the weekend again - its been a long hard week at work. Is anyone doing anything exciting over the weekend?

Not really got anything planned this weekend but whatever I do will be better then the weekend nights I would have worked if I hadn't booked leave :)

We had a lovely day yesterday at my cousin's wedding. Thankfully it stayed dry and was outside. I'm a tad tired today so looking forward to doing nothing for the rest of the weekend.

I´ve just saw the new Pixar movie "Inside out" yesterday and it was brilliant!

This one was again a masterpiece from Pixar and I am always fascinated about the ideas that Pixar have.

Fantastic movie.....a classic ?

Help! Has anyone ever "downgraded" their booking and not lost the deposit?

We have now decided we want to do a Disney Cruise next summer - but would need to reduce the cost of our October DLP trip. If we downgraded from DLH to SLGF room we would save in excess of 1k. But only if we don't lose the deposit.

Could we transfer that deposit to the cruise booking which would be a higher value? And then rebook for October?

If only the cruise idea had sprung before I had booked DLH!

Thanks for any advice! I have emailed (booked through WDTC) as can't ring with listening ears around!

I think it may be possible to downgrade for a refund if you book directly with DLP but I don't know if booking with WDTC, this is Disney's own travel agency, yes?

Hopefully you'll get good news, if not it may still be financially worthwhile to rebook and lose your deposit? If you can't save your deposit then make sure you look at the T+C for booking your cruise through WDTC. If you book directly with DCL then you get a full refund if you need to cancel (within a certain timeframe, of course) so check to see if WDTC are offering the same.

Which cruise are you interested in? Just warning you that it's VERY addictive! ;)

Good luck pixiedust:

Thanks! I have emailed them so will see what they come back with.

We are looking at the Dover - Fjords cruise. But honestly, I feel completely lost at the thought of booking it - I have never been on a cruise before, never mind a disney one so feel like I am going to make a complete hash of the entire booking and trip! :-(

I know, it all seems so overwhelming at first but if you think back, so did DLP the first time!

Check out the DCL forum here https://www.disboards.com/forums/disney-cruise-line-forum.9/

there's lots of info on http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-cruise-line/

and also on DCL blog http://disneycruiselineblog.com/

plus of course if you're on fb there's a couple of very active communities on there.

We've booked the repo from Copenhagen to Dover that visits Norway, Iceland and Scotland. I am just as excited for visiting Scotland as the other two countries! :yay:

Thank you!

I love Scotland, and spend alot of holidays there - us Geordies are just Scots with our heeds kicked in anyway! ;-) But because of that I would feel a bit of a waste for us to stop off there on an expensive cruise, iykiwm? Where do you go in Scotland?

Are there any tricks to a good cruise experience - like we have for DLP?

Oh crap. It never crossed my mind that DCL where over on this side since I moved to the Netherlands...I might be in trouble now!! Poor hubby. :) :)

Well, my advice to you all NEVER book with WDTC. Shocking service. 2+ hours hold EVERY time you call. No help via email, as they can't do ANYTHING. No outgoing calls from them, so can't physically get in touch to change booking. When I did speak to them just got told can't downgrade/can't upgrade - rooms not available even though they are on THEIR website can only really add to the existing booking and be completely outpriced, even though terms state you can upgrade/downgrade deals.

If they would let us change deal, they say we could BUT they have no deal available for that room (they do it's online on their site) we could afford to still stay at DLH, with adding an extra adult (we have decided to take my mam, she is just going to share with the 3 of us as it means it's only a £177 more including meal plan). They have no availability at SLGF so can't downgrade - so have to cancel booking and lose deposit to rebook elsewhere.

Kicking myself for booking with them. :-(

Oh no, what a disappointment :( So basically if you book with them it's just like booking with a travel agency like Thomas Cook or Thomson.

Yes, basically. However, we just called one last time to try to change the deal, in order to stay at the DLH and managed it! The woman hubby spoke to today was lovely, she had it all sorted in 10 minutes, no admin fee and no problems. Hubby said the second he got through to her he knew it would be a different story today! So, I know we don't get the hot breakfasts anymore and the private lounge etc. that we would have got at SLGF but we get to stay at DLH, and for us it is MUCH easier due to distance etc. and it will be a HUGE surprise for my mum and daughter!

Great news!! So pleased for you :goodvibes will this be your mum's first time?

Yes! She is Disney mad, and I have always felt really bad when we have done trips and not invited her along, but hubby has always done the whole "if we invite your mam we should invite mine!" thing - but this time I have managed to get through to him that his mam has holidays, she goes away with friends, and with family. My mam only really has us. So I won! She is ridiculously excited and would be happy staying in a shack if it means she gets to go, so to surprise her with DLH will be a real treat. The free premium meal plan means we can do BBWWS, Sunday Brunch, Auberge and not worry about money, so well worth adding her to the room foronly £177 more!

So if you're staying at a normal level at the DLH, there's no hot breakfast anymore?! Are we sure this is the case? I'd be very surprised!!!

Unless you get a meal plan, no, apparently.

Wow, I can't believe it comes to Scotland! Googling right now to find out if you can actually board it up here....
Glad you're looking forward to visiting us :D I'm biased but I still think Scotland is the most beautiful country in the world (when the sun shines anyway)
