Philadelphia for the day

Thanks to all for the great suggestions. We had a great 5 hours in Philadelphia and as a bonus there was no traffic driving back to NYC! My son and friends all raved about their cheesesteaks from Jim's. They even sat upstairs. I stopped in Jim's , but my older son, who is an extremely picky eater, asked to have pizza instead. An employee from a sneaker store we stopped in suggested Lorenzo's. I thought the pizza was ok, but the size of a slice is crazy. Each slice was at least the size of one regular slice anywhere else.

I got to go to the Museum of Art for a short visit. Loved this museum! I was bummed that I was a week too early to see the new watercolor exhibit opening March 1. We all really enjoyed Reading Terminal Market; could spend a whole day eating around the market. It reminded me a little of the Central Market in Budapest.

We had great weather to walk around and look at all the historic buildings. I am planning to head back sometime this spring with my husband.

Glad you enjoyed the city. If you come back there is a small museum that I found a couple of years ago doing a photo hunt. It's the Rodin museum and it's not to far from the Art Museum on the Parkway. I spent a little bit of time exploring the outside and took a quick look inside. Not too expensive and an awesome collection of his works.

Has anyone been to the Eastern State Penitentiary? My dd is going there next month for a field trip for school. It looks like it got high reviews on TripAdvisor but I don't know anyone who has gone. Just curious.

Lorenzo's is the best after a night of drinking. It's THE spot and the pizza tastes so much better then. lol Come to think of it I've only had the pizza after a few drinks. Maybe that's why I think it's great pizza.

Haha, I'm well past those crazy nights. My son thought the pizza was great.
