Epcot or Hollywood Studios, solo adult.

I am split between which park to go to on my second day(I already have a ticket and adding a day is cheaper than Universal). On the one hand, I am a huge film buff(being an actor and writer myself), and especially all things sci fi(such as Star Wars), but on the other hand, I am very much a cultured person who does enjoy other cultures. I am 36, and it looks like my travel companion will not be joining me that day. I will likely do Magic Kingdom by way of the Halloween Party(not certain I will attend yet, but if not MK can be a subsequent trip), and Animal Kingdom is our day one. I am also considering the water parks, but that is a choice to make later, once I know which theme park I would be the other choice. Which would you recommend and why?

Epcot, but I do not like Hollywood Studios right now. Will still go on our trip, but not really excited about it. I love EPCOT though. One of my favorite parks at WDW. I think you can do a lot of exploring without a big party either moving slowly or getting tired of looking around.

There are a few rides in either park I would do. I am not one that has to do everything. This is my first trip to a Disney park. I am planning an 8am to 3(ish)pm day, since I am pretty sure my Halloween plans will be the same night. Need time to get the costume on for MNSSHP.

I think if you are a Star Wars fan, HS would be a good choice. You can explore the Launch Bay and meet Chewy and Kylo. You can ride Star Tours and see the SW stage show and March of the Stormtroopers. If you stay at night, there is a SW projection/fireworks show. Check out this thread for more info: https://www.disboards.com/threads/o...-party-galactic-nights-launch-bay-jt.3439569/

Also, as a movie buff, you might enjoy Indiana Jones show and Great Movie Ride.

I adore EPCOT, but have to agree with cassie58. I had a short, unplanned solo HS day last year and really enjoyed the Star Wars stuff. Great Movie Ride was a corny revelation (loved it.) Tower of Terror was so much better than I expected.

I think BB-8 is coming to the Launch Bay soon. (and there are sometimes Jawas wandering around as well!)

I've solo toured in both parks in the past year. They're both great choices! DHS actually grew on me a lot during the last trip. I loved the Star Wars stuff, plus I'm one of the few remaining adult Frozen fans, plus I love the Indie show. Tower of Terror is so much fun too.

Not so much a fan of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. The character was a weak villain. That said, big fan of episodes I-VI, especially II and V. I am equally interested in both parks, and would only have until around 3pm, give or take 15 minutes, so evening shows are definitely out on this trip. The appeal for me with Epcot is the World Showcase, as they do have several nations there on my travel bucket list, and with my also being a chef/restauranteur(developing my first in fact), the Food & Wine Festival is a big draw, so you can see the conundrum.

If you're out early, are you wanting to arrive early? Most of World Showcase doesn't open until 11am :(

Either park I was going to arrive around 9am. I have 7:45am reservations at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and was going to go down straight after breakfast. If I do Epcot, the first 2 or 3 hours would be in Future World and then enjoy World Showcase for the remaining time. Hollywood Studios would be until it was time to leave. This is a first trip, but a short one. My third day is at SeaWorld, so can't really do a third day at Disney this time around.

Depends how busy you want you day to be. HS is a half-day park, while it takes a whole day yo fo Epcot. As a movie fan, I love HS, but the park lacks attractions.

Epcot & HS (even now) are my favorite parks. There is definitely more to do in Epcot, but since you're only going to be there for about six hrs I might lean toward HS......

If you're only going to be there 6 hours, I'd opt for DHS. You can't see much in EPCOT in 6 hours, and the countries don't open until 11 a.m.

It sounds like you will be visiting around the Food and Wine Festival. If that's the case, Epcot has a lot to offer around that time of year. Seminars, Food, Drinks, and Eat to the Beat concerts can make for a very full day. i would definitely opt for Epcot.

For me there is no question. EPCOT is a must see. Even for an actor/writer (maybe especially for an actor/writer) DHS is a let down. After SW land opens that will not be the case.

100% disagree. If the park opens at 9, OP can get there at rope drop and do the Big 3 rides in Future World (Soarin, Test Track, Spaceship Earth). He might even have time to do one of those rides a 2nd time before 11. Then he can walk over to the World Showcase and have a good 4 hours. It's so peaceful to walk over there at 11. OP will be able to see a lot and also have a good meal.

OP, the answer is Epcot. DHS is a pile of hot steamin garbage right now.

Epcot hands down. Grab the monorail after ur bkfst! Great rides, great food choices, so much culture, attractions ( within the pavilions) are awesome.

There's just not enough at HS right now..

Not staying on site but will be having breakfast at Kona Cafe that day so it works.

If you're doing breakfast at Kona, I'd lean towards epcot since you can walk to TTC and catch the epcot monorail right after breakfast. That's a cool experience in and of itself -- especially the last bit where you circle around Spaceship Earth.

Food and Wine is a lot of fun -- so that would almost be reason enough to lean towards epcot. They both have the pros and cons.

Epcot
Soarin'
Mission space (orange)
Test Track
Frozen is worth riding just to see the new animatronics
World showcase and F&W booths (they're great for trying a bunch of different types of food and you don't spend a lot of time like you would at a sit down restaurant)

DHS
Tower of Terror
Rockin' Rollercoaster
Star Tours
Toy Story mania (even as a solo -- it's still a fun game to compete)
Star wars march, bay launch
Shows -- Indiana Jones, Beauty and the Beast (stage show), Muppet 3d show is cute
Food -- you might like sci fi diner; 50s diner is fun (also has a bar if you prefer to hang out there -- although you don't get the full experience)

Yeah, couldn't resist the breakfast menu at Kona. Going there next month when I do the Water Parks as well. I had decided for September I will either do Epcot or head over to Universal to check out Volcano Bay. Looking at possibly switching out my Busch Gardens pass for something I would use more. Busch Gardens Williamsburg park, while excellent food, is boring to me, so looking at options.
