13.1 You Wish Upon A Star...a Tink Race and Mother's Day Trip Report! (complete)

Y'all know how I said my legs were feeling pretty normal? Yeah, when I stood up after breakfast I was like "Woah Nelly"...heavy leg syndrome in full effect!
Ouch! I didn't notice my legs hurt until I sat down/stood up either. Walking really does do wonders!

Upon exiting my mom wisely said "your Chip cup...get it now" so we hopped into the gift shop we originally saw them in and I bought one for my kiddo. She happily drinks chocolate milk from it now when I have my coffee, so it was a good $9 purchase. It's plastic but I may have to get the ceramic version at WDW later this year for me.
I really love the chip mug. I have the ceramic one and it sits under my keurig 24/7. Everyone that comes over comments on it :)

Well....WE GOT SOAKED
Yikes!! So glad your pictures are ok!

Nailed it!
This picture is gold. Love it. :tinker:

eating all my snackbox goodies except for the weird dried fruit mix thing.
That dried fruit thing is still in my cupboard :confused3

No bouncing on the DL Pooh ride. That is what makes me like the WDW version more.

Ok, at least I know I didn't miss it.

I really only Disney people can possibly understand, and appreciate this statement! LOL!

AMEN sister!! Me too!!

YES!!! They are the world's best sweet snack!!

There was something almost creamy about the inside of the churro...not the more dried out version you often get near me at fairs/baseball games. They just are really really fresh.

I'm 100% stealing that idea to have a cute chip mug sit in my keurig. Maybe I'll put my current fave Disneyworld mug there for now. Good idea!!!

Sounds like a wonderful Disney afternoon! I'm happy the churro was so delicious! I remember Disneyland churros and I haven't been there in 19 years!!

And your pictures with Tink are so cute!!

Sitting around DL just staring into space with a churro ain't a bad way to be living.

I love the Tink picture!!

Also ... I've never had a churro in my life. I feel like I'm missing out on something important.

With two girls we ALWAYS visit Tink. That line is the longest short line ever - but Tink is always great and interacts so well with all of us.

Really enjoyed reading about the race. That feeling as you cross the line just can't be beat (and is even better for a full). Look forward to the nearly midnight update!

Have you ever had any other fried dough situation (perhaps an elephant ear or a funnel cake?) It's pretty much that same kind of thing but in tube form and covered in sugar. :)

I can imagine that if I ever do a full, that I will still probably cry at the 13.1 mark...when I realize I have to go run another 13.1 :)

Hmm ... I'm sure I've had some sort of fried dough something in my life. At least now I know that I'm not missing out on too much ... although I'm sure the covered in sugar thing makes it even better.

I've been sick for a few days so I'm catching up on Trip Report - Half Marathon Day!

I took so so many photos Sunday morning so I'll be making a few posts about my ChEAR Squad experience. I was very happy to be up at 4am to support my sister :) Part of my gear I got from runDisney was this button.

IMG_6172.JPG

Look it is an adorable fairy walking to Disneyland!

IMG_6173.JPG

I enjoy talking to anyone about anything so waiting in lines isn't boring and I had fun chatting in lines all weekend with other Disney guests. This was also very true on race day. The ladies in front of us waiting in the security line had cute handmade Bug clips in their hair. And we did chat with some friendly ladies on line for the bathroom pre-race.

After Roxymama and I decided where we were meeting up and she headed to her corral, I walked back over to Disneyland. I wasn't 100% sure where I could get in but I was the first person to line up by the gates on the far left after talking to a nice security guard. They were going to let us into the park a bit before 5:30. More people started lining up that signs and cowbells and coffee. I was running on just excitement instead of caffeine! One security guard was moving some of the gates/fences and started a chain reaction domino fence that they had to chase after..oops!

IMG_6174.JPG

We were given very specific instructions by a super serious security guard that we had to show our orange bracelet to him and walk in single file and follow him into the park. Once we got into our area in Town Square, we had to stay there until everyone had run through the park and into DCA. At that point we were welcome to leave the way we came in but the runners would be coming back into the park for Mile 3. We just had to move over to the right to see them run back in. They "fenced" us into Town Square with benches - fences we could sit on yay!

IMG_6175.JPG

One of the people waiting was cheering for an Elite runner who had bib 5 so she got a spot right by the front. Some nice local people had runners in corral D so they suggested those with faster runners get spots in the front of viewing area and then we switch out - good suggestion. I was smack dab center front sitting on a bench waiting for my sis as the sun rose and music played. It was so beautiful. I got a text at 5:41 that Roxy had started running and shortly after the wheelchair racers came by.

Off the the right halfway down to the castle, Chip and Dale were set up for a photo pass. While they were waiting for runners to come by, they were in the street waving at us from afar.

I knew roughly how fast Roxymama ran a mile so I knew when to start looking for her. I spotted her in line for the chipmunks! And I took video of her running by and caught one photo of her going past Town Hall on the way to DCA. Please turn your sound down when you watch the videos I post as I yelled really loud for her when she ran by and I don't want to break your eardrums :)

She looked so happy! It was definitely easy to spot her in the blue with white wings :)

IMG_6176.JPG

I didn't use my clapper, I just yelled and clapped a ton :) I was having such fun shouting encouragements to the runners and watching the costumes. I ended up walking back and forth between the 3 mile marker area in front of Great Moments with Mr Lincoln and my original spot after Roxy ran by the first time. I yelled at a few people "I don't know you but I believe in you!" And then I saw the ladies with the bug hair clips from the security line and yelled extra loud for them.

IMG_6180.JPG
IMG_6181.JPG

My favorite photo I saw someone else take was a Judy Hops getting major air time!

IMG_6183.JPG

And this is what the chipmunks did after everyone had run by ...danced in the street...

IMG_6043.JPG

I knew after I saw a bunch of Lost Boys in onesies and Man Elsa, that Roxymama was coming by again so I went and found a bench to sit on by the 3rd Mile marker so I could see her coming out of the tunnel...

This is so exciting for me to read because I hadn't seen a bunch of these pics yet!!! Yay! Thank you beanie for cheering for literally all of us!

I wish I'd have seen man Elsa!!

I wish I'd have seen man Elsa!!

I think I have a video of him - when I knew you were going to be running by soon, I kept taking videos so I could capture the moment on film :) I was impressed by the silly whimsical costumes a bunch of people wore and how pretty all the sparkle skirts looked as the sun rose

Half Marathon Day Part 2

Fun runners running for funnnnnn! There is a couple dressed as Russel and Kevin from Up that I really enjoyed. And this couple was cosplaying the short film Paperman - can you imagine running in a full suit?

IMG_6182.JPG

IMG_6185.JPG

Here comes Roxymama past the 3 Mile marker - once again, turn down your volume cause I was yelling loud for her

I moved back over to watch the later corrals come down the stretch from the castle and cheer on the walkers after roxymama ran into Tomorrowland. I cheered on all the walkers til I saw the Balloon man. There was only one person behind the balloon man at that point.

Then it was time for me to take empty park photos again - City Hall shimmering in the sunlight.

IMG_6178.JPG

Fire station selfie!

IMG_6179.JPG

It was peaceful even with the crowds still running in the background

IMG_6184.JPG

The runners were still heading past Mile Marker 3 but I was getting hungry. Part of the VIP ChEAR experience was a breakfast at ESPN zone so I headed out of the park at about 6:50 am. I watched runners pose in front of the Mickey flowers and the runners flowing over from DCA.

IMG_6186.JPG IMG_6187.JPG

Downtown Disney had a few people here and there waiting for runners and I ran into this guy too!

IMG_6188.JPG

There was a full breakfast spread inside ESPN with bacon and eggs and pastries and fruit and OJ. I loaded up a plate and found a spot by the bar to watch all the video screens of the runners. There were two different rooms set up but still a few available tables.

There were cameras before the final straight away and just before the runners crossed the finish line that they switched back and forth from. The announcers were making up categories of finishers like "First Man in a TuTu" to finish, "First Canadian", "First Long Beard" and generally being cheesy. A good kind of cheesy.

IMG_6189.JPG

After I finished eating and when I had seen the 2 hour pace group go by on the screen, I went outside to find a spot on the bleachers set up just for the VIP's. Some people were leaving that were sitting right in front and I took their spot. I've run out of photo room here - Roxymama finishing in the next post!

Half Marathon Part 3

I had a great view down the straightaway to the finish line. Some people running by saw how close they were to the finish and ripped their earbuds out and just booked it! The people clasping hands to run through the finish holding hands got me choked up. So many runners had a mix of happy and tired and proud on their faces and some were sheer determination.

The view to my left.
IMG_6193.JPG

And to my right..
IMG_6192.JPG

Timing mat?
IMG_6194.JPG

And here comes my runner! I totally was crying with pride as she ran by - she was ahead of her goal time and still had her wings on! Look at her go!

Since I knew Roxymama would take a bit of time to get her medal and such, I went back inside ESPN and used the ladies room and was given another clapper by someone who didn't want to take it home - so roxykiddo got a souvenir Mickey clapper.

Here is a happy Roxymama! Look at that smile! She did it!
IMG_6190.JPG

Original Reason for Sister Weekend Trip completed! That's one good looking medal you got there!
IMG_6191.JPG

We walked back to the room and did a quick change/shower and I put on my Tinkerbell shirt (Roxymama got it for me for Xmas and it says "Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust") Roxymamamama was up and dressed and ready for the day and excited to eat brunch but no one was more excited than baconmama...I mean roxybacon....

IMG_6200.JPG

I do not hesitate to say that the best meal we ate all weekend was at the Plaza Inn. The waitstaff was really nice and we did get prime seats. I helped Mom figure out where all the stations were - in the middle were the Mickey Waffles and French toast and they had a banana caramel sauce for the waffles that I said "yes Please!" to. It had been about 3 hours since my ESPN breakfast but I knew I had to get the waffles.

There was also a large assortment of fresh fruit and mini muffins. And bacon - the bacon was thick and crispy and delicious. The only thing I didn't try was the omelet station. Om nom nom nom! Next time I'm at Disneyland, going to try the Plaza Inn Fried Chicken.

IMG_6203.JPG

Here is my only photo I got of Tigger.... Tigger Butt! Next post, all our cute character photos during brunch. Some are really really cute...just want to warn ya!IMG_6199.JPG

Finally caught up! Congratulations @roxymama! Have loved reading your trip report! Looks like it was a magical trip and race. :) Can't wait for the cute character pics @AuntieBean!

Thanks! I really am finishing my recap of the Sunday park stuff today (promise!!!) So thanks for reading along :)

Great spectator recap! I enjoyed reading/seeing what it's like on the other side- thanks for sharing @AuntieBean :)

Is it bad that as soon I read "the other side" I thought of this?

HA! Well thanks for making me look crazy! ;)

(PS I actually just watched this movie on Sunday night :) )

Life Could be a Dream...Sh Boom Sh Boom
So where we left off was after we all decided to take a huge break at the room because we were all pretty tired. And roxymamamama decided to have a quiet night in. So Beanie and I headed to the one place I hadn't fully experienced yet and just could not let a trip go by without doing all the things.
So we wandered over to DCA for a big dose of Carsland! I honestly am having a really hard time remembering when we walked over but it was maybe in the 5:30ish when we left or got there (one of the two.) The Pixar parade thingy was going on and so we had to kind of wait in a cluster of people at a crosswalk for a while to cross over to where we could get to Carsland. But at least we could count that we saw the parade (we had a similar situation on day 1 so between those two we probably saw the whole thing.) Our thought was to go right to RCR and see what we had to endure as far as the line and then decide to eat first or line first. We knew the wait was over 2 hours from the app but the single rider line was only 45 minutes. That sounded reasonable and just fine by us. I'd say it took about that long but it didn't feel too terrible because the line was so themed...something I wish more of the DL and DCA lines offered compared to what I'm used to at WDW.
tr1.jpg
And then when it became our turn to wait for an opening the 4 women in front of us got put into 4 separate cars really quickly and then a minute or two later Bean and I were put in the SAME CAR! I honestly didn't realize it until I got into my assigned row and turned around Bean was standing there like TA-DA! One of the women in the group in front of us was like "hey no fair, how'd you guys manage to get together" but in kind of a not-joking tone and I was like (in my head) "sheesh, it's single rider...stop complaining"
Ok, but then the ride was so so gooooood! We got the "paint booth" scenario and won our race by what seemed like a lot.
tr2.jpg
Sometimes lines don't equal the hype...like I love Seven Dwarves Mine Train but I still don't think it's worthy of waiting over an hour. RCR is worthy. If there wasn't so much more I wanted to experience in DL still I could have been talked into staying to ride again...but first...More Carsland!
I'm pretty sure we wanted to ride the Luigi and Guido little car ride but it was down (it had been down as we walked over to RCR as well and the ride lady said it had been back up while we were on RCR but went back down. BOO!) So we walked farther down and made a note that we wanted to eat dinner at the Cozy Cone, but first we got in line for the Mater cow-tipping ride. I really am bad at remembering these little ride's names. Junkyard Jamboree maybe?
tr10.jpg
I have a weird thing with hating to be squished on the type of spinny rides that squish people together. Like "scrambler" type rides and I thought that's what this was going to be. So I asked to ride by myself. Well apparently a group of kids decided to ride by themselves too without telling the ride lady because I was literally running around trying to find any empty cow-tractor and couldn't so I yelled to Bean "Let me In" and jumped in with her. Turns out the ride isn't like a scrambler and although does crazy whip things...there was no squishing! We were cracking up laughing the whole time. Upon exiting the lady at the ride waved us over and said "those kids weren't supposed to split up, go ahead back on and you can ride seperately" Ummmm...OK! In our little holding pen waiting to go back on we were next to a group of similar Tink wearing half marathon women who were obviously very much enjoying their night and ending up adopting us for duration of the wait and ride and there were a lot of high fives and dancing involved. I think maybe they'd found the adult beverages for the evening. It was a hoot.
So after that we decided it was eating time since we'd totally skipped lunch (I mean we ate a TON for breakfast after all) And what better place to eat than...
tr3.jpg
I didn't realize that you lined up and gave your order to the lady up front and paid and then they gave you a receipt to go to whichever cones housed your stuff. Do they only do it this way at night? So Bean and I both got the macaroni and bacon cones and Bean also got an apple freeze so she got to go to two cones. We found a picnic table and it started to get a bit darker out and then before we started to dig in...the Sh Boom lights turning on thing happened! OMG I LOVED IT!!

View from our table during the Sh Boom Sh Boom
tr4.jpg
And my Cone! This pic cracks me up because Bean is doing the exact same thing. Maybe she can share her pic of the same moment in time.
tr5.jpg
This was very good and I shockingly almost finished it. I'm usually not very good at finishing overly rich things (which this was) but I couldn't stop eating this. The cone was the same texture and taste as these Market Day bagel-dog things we used to eat at kids so I was feeling all kind of nostalgia.

Another cone selfie - with cone street lamps.
tr6.jpg
After my 30th bathroom break of the day (all the powerade from before, I swear) we checked and Luigi's tire place ride thing was open! Ok, Rollicking Roadsters is the correct name...thanks google!
And there was not much of a line.
See!
tr7.jpg
My fave character in the Cars movie is this little forklift guy, so I had to pose with him. You can see in the pic how my hair had started to get slightly crazy behind my sweatyband but I was past the point of caring :)
tr9.jpg
I'm glad we actually were forced to ride this when it was dark out because it was so pretty under the lights.
tr8.jpg

After talking with a mom and her 4 year daughter (another thing that made me miss my little) who was quite the little dancer to all the music, it was our turn. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this yet (I have) but we are chatty. Bean & I picked an orange (bean, please confirm) car in the front because it was in the front and both are legs were already in full-tired mode. This was so different to be on vs to watch but I also loved it. Not a huge fan of spinny things, but I did throw my hands up in glee for the final spin around.
We decided to say goodbye to CarsLand and DCA because we had some unfinished business in DL. But I really would love to come back and do RCR again and maybe eat at Flo's. Although the Cozy Cone at night really was so magical.
To be continued in DL...left foot right foot left foot right foot

I've gotten so far behind!!

But wanted to say that I love that picture of Roxymamamama and the Fairy Godmother. So sweet!

I'm glad you got your pic with Tink. We were going to try and get a medal pic with her too and headed over about 20 minutes before she was supposed to arrive and the line was already shut off. WOW! She was a busy little fairy.

I love hearing your perspective, @AuntieBean , and all your photos and videos. Awesome!

Carsland at night was even better than during the day. I loved the Sh Boom moment.

Woah...I was just reading your recap and here you were just reading mine.
Tink was indeed a busy fairy. Any other weekend I would have not waited in a line for the line before the line. At one point I eavesdropped on her handler coming down the line to talk to the line person and it was along the lines of "how's she doing? she need a break? Ok, she's gonna stay out. Tell her it's X people" I'm so nosey; ruining my own magic.

If I could transport us all to the Sh Boom tonight magically I would!!!
