DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Wow still in school till the end of June. When do yall go back, the end of September?
Being the responsible one is highly over rated.

The students start just after Labour Day, get two weeks off at Christmas and one week in March plus the odd snowday, PD day and statutory holidays.

See there is your problem, you put too many letters in labor and too many days in the school year.
Do yall have labor day the first Monday in September like we do?

Yes. The school year is about 195 days with around 185 teaching days.

Sounds similar to here in GA. They've added more 1 week breaks in the middle and now the school year is longer. We start back last day of July and then end May 23rd 2018. They have weeks off in September, November, December/Jan, February and April. The school board was wanting to go year round, but I think they got too much push back. Summer vacation is already too short (barely 2 months), but I understand their reasoning. The kids tend to lose too much information over long breaks, so having more shorter breaks helps them to retain the information better, but the family needs a summer vacation also.

Ok boys. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one in the Nomad lounge for Hightowers has to take Elsa home. And let me tell ya, someone screaming "let it go, don't hold it back anymore" is really off putting. Have a great Friday chaps. London out.

Just found out that today is Let it Go Day so let her yell it out!

Considering the banter here today:

Rain pushed matches indoor and stacked until later tonight. I won't play now until 9:30 PM, which is past my bed time. Still have the three hour drive to the tournament. Maybe I can check in, send the family shopping, and take a nap.
Good luck - "don't pull anything just let it go"

My girls finished school Thursday too. I've barely seen them yet with me working and them having better things to do than stay at home. Being a teenager my oldest is always gone with friends of course. But my youngest will soon be 10 so getting to that age where they don't want to hang out with Dad anymore.

Tennis at 9:30? I'm in my pyjamas by then. Good luck with it!

I'm sorry to admit that I drank nothing more than Pepsi last night, just wasn't feeling it.

When you get Elsa home, be careful if she offers to do the snowblower!

Morning guys. It was a late night, but we are winners (round 1). I won my doubles match and team went 3-2 for our first team victory. Matches already pushed back an hour this morning for outdoor play to 10:30 AM. I'm thinking of going back to bed as I didn't get much sleep.

Then, as we are driving to breakfast this AM, I see a Toyota Camry with a life size sticker of the Queen Mum in the driver back window, and she was waving. Dan, was that you? :lmao:

I think school needs to be shorter - Labor Day and end Memorial Day - but since money is tied to # of days, then we get things like field day, pajama day, movie day, etc. :furious:

Literally, that's what she said. Cold never bothered me anyway. :lmao:

Thanks. Injury free so far.

Fortunately, we have a time change as I live in CT and we played in ET. But, we still past my bedtime as well.

So, who's team is 3-0 going into tomorrow's match? Yes, this guy. We have one each match 3-2. My brilliant Captain strategy and recruiting have done so well. So yes, that now makes me a Captain.

On my individual effort, I am 2-1 this tournament in doubles. Had a bad first match this AM and couldn't adjust to the wind. Team dinner tonight. I'm hoping we can make the finals tomorrow.

Well, our chances have ended. We had our own destiny in hand - win and in the finals. Sadly, we lost 2-3 today, which meant there were three teams at a 3-1 W/L record, and we lost on the # matches won tiebreak by two. I won again today, so my record was 3-1 this year, better than 2-1 last year. Still, it stinks to be so close to the finals and come up short.

We keep telling ya Cliff, these are the extra days are where you discover the letter U and how to use it

Her Most Glorious Majesty Elizabeth, the Queen Mother makes a wonderful driving companion. You can also jump red lights. And the police salute you. But then your car reeks of Gin.

Nothin like a bit of self belief......Nice work mate, bad luck on the finals...
Funny thing is other thread I'm following, they're talking about beavers. I just want to say for the record, I did not start it in either thread so I'm NOT the common denominator. :rotfl2:
I know, there are people on here who completely drag the whole tone of the place down. Spoils it for the rest of us non-commoners.

Built a fence and hung a couple of doors for DDs playgroup yesterday, over to the in laws today for dinner and all of that interspersed with Glastonbury. The Foo Fighters were awesome. Now watching the Jacksons who are doing their best impression of Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Have a good Sunday chaps.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a very evenly matched league, which should help everyone's game get better.

Beautiful day here today, 26C/79F sunny with a light breeze. Did some yard work, had to cut down a little maple on the front lawn that lost too many branches after a hard winter. Also helped my parents start their move into a new condo. Nice little place and no more worry about mowing the grass or shovelling snow.

Careful what you wish for, you haven't seen my pyjamas.

That joke would be better if I could show a picture but probably shouldn't. Google wolf underwear. There you go, Mr. December.

Shameful, those guys.

Thought one of them might tack on a joke about Elsa's snow globes. Not that I would stoop to that level...

Morning all. To make matters worse from yesterday, I re-injured my already injured knee yesterday. I knew when I did it during the match (up 3-1 in 2nd set), but played through it to win the match. My wife drove home, and I thought it maybe just stiffened up due to the long car ride, and ice, elevation, amd consuming alcohol would help. Nope. I can barely walk on it.

Yes, it was competitive and we made a good showing. The team that advanced to the finals (that we defeated) lost 1-4 to the overall winners. But, I'm glad now we didn't advance. There would have been no way I could have played another match on my knee and would have to default.

Tough one, sorry to hear it.

Thanks.

As for Elsa's snow globes, I did my best to warm them up. The cold never bothered me anyway.
