Take Out Dinner?

I'm in the process of planning a possible solo trip. I plan to start my day very early (no dragging anyone out of bed to make it to rope drop!). I'm also not big into the nighttime entertainment, so I may end my evening on the earlier side. I thought about possibly picking up food somewhere and eating a later dinner in the hotel. But I also don't want to miss out on some great food.

Do places do take out orders? Either in the parks, resorts or Disney Springs? I'd like some real meals and not just take out sandwiches. I'm looking into staying at POR/POFQ or maybe the Contemporary. But I would have to transport my food on the bus/boat/monorail.

Any advice?

Any of the quick service locations can technically function as a take-out place as well -- and I know the ones at the resorts have special to-go lids you can put on top of your plate -- but transporting the food isn't likely to work particularly well, and unless you're ordering to-go at the QSR at your resort, you're definitely looking at having to carry your food onto a bus, boat or monorail (or taking one of the new Minnie Vans). I don't believe any of the table service places in the parks or resorts allow you to do a straight-up take-out meal, but it's possible that might be an option at some of the Disney Springs locations.

So I doubt quick service does take out, but also I wouldn't want to do take out from there! I agree with Disney springs, that might be your best choice. Also I might steal this idea!! When are you going?

The QS places in the park don't have the ability to do "take-out" service - I've asked. Sometimes they might be able to give you a piece of foil or an extra plate - but they aren't set up for this. I did actually take a burrito bowl home from MK one time - but I had brought foil and a bag into the park with me that day because this was planned in advance. I ordered it - packed it up - and headed back to my resort. (It was a party day at MK and I hadn't bought a ticket for the party - so I was ending my day at 7pm - and thought the calm of eating back in my room and going to bed early might be nice. It was all lukewarm as getting back to my room took about 45 minutes.)

The QS places at the resorts have lids for plates and have bags available - so if you want to eat in your room instead of the food court - this is easy to make happen. You can order things to go at these places. I had an awesome African Stew one time from the AKL QS place (Mara) that I ordered to-go and ate back in my room. I don't know if they still serve that - but that was yummy! While I've stayed at POFQ twice now - I got beignets one morning - but I haven't eaten at that food court otherwise. I think they make a jambalaya meal there - I'm sure that would transport back to your room pretty easily.

If you dine in at a TS restaurant - every place I've been (except the buffets) - do have option to pack up your left-overs to take home with you. I ate the bread service at Sanaa one night - and I did order an entree, too. I had a couple bites of the entree when I ordered it - and took the rest back to the resort with me. It was yummy the next evening!

I've never asked about a carry-out at any of the TS restaurants. I'm sure some of the places at Disney Springs can handle this.

I can't speak for in park take out service but it does seem like a hassle. You can certainly do this at Disney Springs though (Wolfgang, Splitsville, Raglan Road, etc...)

As others have said, you would have to bring your own containers to do take-out. But instead of doing this, why not eat at the POR food court if you stay there, or at Contempo Café if you stay at the Contemporary? Both of these are among the better quick service places on property, IMHO. And if you buy the food at the hotel where you stay and when you are ready to eat, it will be fresher than if you buy it earlier and bring it back.
