Couple time at resorts

During of my last 3 trips I wanted nothing more than a nice dip in the hot tub with an adult beverage only to find it swarming with kids jumping in and out of it. I have opted to not be "that jerk" and run off the kids since it could be the only time they ever come to Disney and do not want any issues. So I grumbled and sat at the quite pool (the name is misleading). I know everyone is on vacation but is not having 5-6 10 yr olds fill the hot tub until pool closing an unreasonable request? Meh, maybe I am an curmudgeon.

I am so with you. They need two hot tubs - one adults only and one for kids to pee in.
Hahaha! I do totally agree, though. It's kind of surprising that there isn't a quiet/adults only hot tub, especially at some of the Deluxe resorts. I know values don't even have hot tubs, and POFQ's hot tub is so sad (especially since I love their pool!). B/YC has multiple hot tubs so at least there you can usually find one without a ton of kids in it (or at least without rowdy ones).

As a DVC member I've noticed that some pool areas are more quite than others depending on the resort but I agree that it would be great if all the resorts had a private adult area (like Aulani) for those adults who wish a little quite time.

You can be a cranky old man with lots of friends who agree with you. I don't mind if the kids are sitting and soaking, but jumping in and out or splashing bugs me. Like you, I just want to relax with an adult beverage and some nice hot water!

And what's with all the freaking kids at the Magic Kingdom? Can't we get an adults only park? You need a Vegas trip. Just kidding. I find if you wait until later at night or when they start showing the movie, that it is a bit quieter. Yes, I know they close the hot tubs and pools early by normal standards. The AKL has two hot tubs - one farther away - and we've had luck in that one. And if there are any kids, just tell them Mickey is in the lobby handing out free candy, Starwars light sabers, monorails, etc. and you should have at least 10 minutes before they come back with their irate parents.

Well most of my friends say I am the cranky one, the wife acknowledges my cranky with a bless yer heart....

You know I am going to try this, for an experiment of course....haha

DH & I don't hang at the hot tubs but I agree that they should be a semi free child zone. In fact we've stayed at resort hotels where children weren't allowed in the hot tub at all or only with an adult and the rule was politely enforced. Along with the no jumping and in one case no drinks ( sorry OP;))

I agree on all accounts. Adult-only hot tubs, and kids shouldn't be alone in a hot tub without their own parent/adult guardian.

Something that I really enjoyed about the Swan was that the quiet pool was always legitimately *quiet* as well as the hot tub nearby. Everyone with kids went over to the big pool complex at the Dolphin! :) Not that those pools/hot tubs were too busy, either; actually never saw kids in the Dolphin hot tub, and enjoyed some great swims in their waterfall pool.
