Thanksgiving 2017 Buffet

You know, you'd think there would be a quicker, more reliable way for them to load everything at once. Do they really load everything a little at a time for all reservation dining, all year round?

It's live!!!

ETA: Booked for a party of 3 at 5:00 p.m. for the DLH Thanksgiving Dinner!

Heads up, Storyteller’s isn’t listed separately this year. Once you click an afternoon time, it will come up as Thanksgiving Buffet. However, right now only parties of 2 are coming up with any times. I’m going to assume it’s like last year and that not all of the larger parties have already been booked.

Yay! Thank you!

I made ours for 4:30, so we'll both be there at the same time! I'm so happy that was painless. Except for, you know, the worrying about it. Lol

Times are coming up for the DLH buffet for my party of 8, but not Storyteller’s. It makes me want to bite the bullet and do it! Decisions, decisions.

ETA: Decided to refresh one more time and Storyteller’s came up. Stuck with that. I hope everybody gets the place/time they want.

And you know, the early hour and then the wait... I hope you didn't lose too much sleep over this!

Lol Nope. I mean, I did wake up around 2:30, but I was like "No thanks. I'm going back to sleep." I needed to get up around 5:30 anyway, so no big deal. You, on the other hand....

Just so people aren't surprised, it is now $95 per adults, or $120 when they include tax and tip. Kids are $35, $45 with tax and tip.

Yeah, it was $400 for my party of 5 (3 adults, 1 kid, 1 infant). That would be too steep for some, but you have no idea the amount of money and trouble it'll save me in the long run. We usually host a big Thanksgiving at our house with 30-50+ people. Plus, it'll be nice to do something different - add on Disney and I was sold. Lol

Oh good! The Thanksgiving Dinner at Disneyland has become a tradition in our family, so if it means waking up early to keep it going I'm going to do it! My wife and I started going in 2010 when we gave up on the trouble of hosting Thanksgiving dinner ourselves and we haven't looked back. Now we have a little girl who loves the dinner and the holidays at Disneyland. Last year, she and a bunch of other kids got together and had a little dance party and did the conga and limbo on the dance floor, and the band was so generous playing music just for them. She had so much fun! This dinner really is quite special; there's nothing else like it at Disneyland all year. I know the reviews of the food can be mixed, it's in a large ballroom so not exactly intimate, and the front house can seem a little disorganized, but the character meet and greets, the character attendants and servers, the live band and music, the festive fall decorations, everything really gets you in the holiday mood.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

I'm not even surprised anymore. The price goes up every year without fail. I remember when I first started going to this dinner a few years ago thinking $69 was expensive! And they even took away the AP discount last year!

I have Disneyland hotel and storytellers booked. There is really no info on storytellers. Is it a character buffet? Disneyland hotel seems to include a cocktail or specialty drink. Is it like world of color where the specialty drink comes in a cool cup?

I know it's a character buffet, but I'd be interested to hear about the drinks as well.

Lain - I'm really excited about going! Honestly, I feel I know what to expect when it comes to food. If you've eaten at any buffets in DL, I would think you'd expect the same...? But I'm hoping this becomes kinda an annual thing for us.

Storyteller Cafe was character dining last year with a special holiday menu. I believe the characters were the woodland characters you'd usually see at breakfast. We've never noticed any special cups at the Disneyland Hotel dinner.

Last year, Storyteller’s was a character meal for Thanksgiving dinner. I don’t remember it being advertised as such last year either - I think somebody here mentioned it. We saw Chip, Dale, Koda and Rafiki last year I think. I’d have to go through my pictures again.

were you seated within a reasonable time? that's what I worried about with the dl hotel version. Also, we will be a party of three. Will we end up sharing a table at either event?

Good Morning! Although my daughter and I decided against the DLH ballroom dinner (we watched a specific Youtube video where mom was screaming at her kids, and it just seemed too chaotic for us) since there are just the 2 of us, I wonder which of these you would choose? Also, time wise, which one would be a good time for us, earlier or later? I'm thinking earlier than the traditional evening meal, maybe between 1-4p?

Steakhouse 55: We have a 5:20p reservation already
Storyteller's Cafe: I wouldn't mind some Woodland characters! I love the atmosphere. I know this is buffet style, although I prefer being served
Carnation Cafe: Right on mainstreet, but I would want to be outside, preferably on the street side, being able to people watch, but I know there are no guarantees
Carthay Circle: Is this meal too fancy? I want traditional roast turkey, mashed potatoes, etc. but I love their meals otherwise, and I know the atmosphere is so elegant!!

Oddly, there are very few Thanksgiving videos on youtube, and not really a lot of reviews of Thanksgiving meal itself with pictures included. I find that very odd since it's a big meal held once a year for eons! If you have any links to any reviews of specific restaurants, please share!!
Thanks all!!
