My wife and I finally decided where we would spend our 20th anniversary and decided on a fun filled kid less Disney trip. We have been to Disney with our children twice in the past and each time we spent the week at CBR (The kids loved the pool and we loved the music/theme of the resort). When booking for this trip for May 2018 we decided to go back for a third time and then I got second thoughts(after I booked). First I am a research kind of guy and between renovation horror stories and polls that POR was,in most polls the best or most chosen of the Moderate Resorts decided to plead my case to my wife of why we needed to change it up. I told her
1) Renovations are going on
2) We have nothing to compare it to seeing CBR has been our choice each time we went to Disney
3) It is our anniversary and I want what we share together to be new and separate from our past trips
SHE AGREED!
So I called my travel agent and she made the changes and am happy to announce we are staying at POR Riverside ( my wife is creeped out by the French Quarters décor LOL) YAY!

Now I would like to here some comments/opinions/suggestions/etc... on my choice and decision
Thank You

I don't have any opinions or suggestions as we've never stayed at POR, but I wanted to say I hope you and your wife have a great anniversary trip. I'm always reading positive reviews about POR and from pics I've seen, it looks like a beautiful resort. Hope you have a great time :wizard:.

I agree with your wife on the French Quarters décor! :scared1: Freaks me out too! I've not stayed at Port Orleans but have friends who've stayed in both Riverside and French Quarter and they were very pleased with both resorts. My nephew married at DW on New Year's Eve a few years ago and the entire wedding party was at French Quarter. They loved the location. It's on my "bucket list" and I really like that you can boat to Disney Springs. If it makes you feel any better, at this time I don't think I'd stay at CBR either. We've stayed their twice and loved it but with all that construction I just can't see it being a "restful resort" at this time. I think you made a wise choice. :tink:

Thank you I believe we did too. I feel like I missed out on something seeing the ratings are the lowest for CBR of the moderate resorts. I loved it too but being the ratings were higher elsewhere looking fwd. to being there at POR

Yaaayyyy for you and your wife! I think you will love POR! It is a beautiful resort, with a great pool area, lovely grounds, good food choices, and a great Lounge. I'm not sure if they still offer this, but years ago you could have a horse and buggy ride around the grounds. Probably my favorite part of staying here is the boat ride to Disney Springs! Not only is it convenient, the boat ride itself is super romantic and pretty (especially at night). Enjoy and Happy Anniversary!

Thank you Zebra. Will certainly look into the Carriage ride. I believe they do and was definitely on my list!

You made a good choice. We usually end up at POR or POFQ, depending on offers, because we think that entire resort is beautiful...especially at night. Enjoy your anniversary.

thank you SP looking fwd to walking hand and hand with my bride thru the resort in the evening.

Riverside is a beautiful resort and be prepared after 2 trips to CBR you will wonder why it took you so long to change resorts. During out last 4 trips we have been at Riverside or French Quarter ( we love FQ ) and when my daughter was 5 I took her on the carriage ride (at 17 she still talks about it)

We have stayed twice at POR and twice at FQ. We choose FQ over POR for size reasons. Everything at FQ is a 5 minute walk max. Walking to the food court at POR and getting breakfast for the girls was a 15 minute walk both ways but POR is beautiful and does have a better pool than FQ.

We loved POR but are not a fan of FQ. I would request a room in the mansion side versus the Alligator Bayou section but that is just my opinion. The grounds are so clean and the pool, food court and other areas are great. We are staying in OKW as we just bought into DVC.
