DISchurners Reddit Group Update - I figured I'd give a quick update of what's going on over there

NEW THREAD - All My Cards...not a soap opera, just a thread to share all the cards you have gotten and anything you want to say about them... This thread I just created is a great place to share all the various cards you have...or you've had...and any redemption info/tips as well. You don't have to share all of them but you certainly can if you want. When looking at a new card it can be really helpful to talk to somebody who has already had it so this could be a cool resource for that as wel!

If your options are to send the AU card back or destroy it yourself... the CSR would be pretty tough to destroy!

@SouthFayetteFan, I wonder if we can have some sort of "what card/what strategy" thread on the subreddit? While we do a lot of that here on DIS, this thread keeps rolling on several pages a day and it gets hard to keep track of where someone is on their card count, minimum spend, strategy, points, goals, etc. when they come back with a question after working on a card for a few months. I'm not sure reddit would organize the topics any better. Just brainstorming.

Best portal when paying partly with a gift card? Buying an Apple Watch from kohls on Monday. I generally have good luck with ebates, swagbucks, and chase although it seems like chase is very ymmv.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I use that site. My question isn't about the highest payout but the likelihood of getting paid out for the entire purchase when mostly paying with a gift card.

CSPs are also metal, I don't know how Im going to destroy it.

Wire cutters work. You can also drop it off at a Chase branch.

When my CSR was hacked, they sent me an envelope to return the old card in. I included it and DH and my other old card so they could destroy them all.

ask them for a mailer .. a thin cardboard type envelope that has prepaid postage.

I retired my first metal card and I did use my snips (sheet metal cutters)

It was a Ritz Card .. about twice as thick as other metal cards and it was a bit hard to

cut almost as if it were stainless steel.

My second metal card was a Marriott and it was replaced due to possible Fraud.

When they sent me the Replacement Card they included a Mailer so that is what I did

with that card. The last one I added to my toolbox.

I don't know that it matters if you pay for the item through the portal with a gift card or credit card. I think the portals just see the final dollar amount due.

I bought thru AAdvantage shopping and made partial payments with a gift card (e.g. eBags and Sur La Table) but still got full AA miles for the entire purchase, not just the amount I put on a credit card. That's true for Topcashback as well IME.

I have been denied cashback from ebates a few times because I paid with a GC but it was 100% with a GC. The times I have split my payment (and this has been mostly Kohls), I've not had any problem with Ebates.

whats the deal with Kohls? im also lookin for an apple watch. Been thinkin of ordering from B&H since its tax free.

No worries. I'm not always clear

Starting Monday they are doing $15 of Kohl's cash per $50 (plus Kohl's rewards). On the 38 mm that's $90. DD needs converse and Nikes so I have a use for the Kohl's cash.

Dick'sSportingGooods had a great deal on Apple Watch 2s. They had the rose gold one I wanted for $243. But I'm thinking I might as well get the 3.

I just product changed DH to the Freedom. Have the 2018 categories been announced? I have them for Discover but I couldn’t locate the Chase list.

Also, if I am using DH’s Freedom, do I need to go through his Chase portal to shop or can I go through my portal and just use his card? I have a Lord & Taylor purchase to make.

Does anyone know if I can book my stay but then later convert it into a an spg points stay? I don't want to risk the room being taken - we want a double room but just standard. I'm SPG gold so I'm hoping for an upgrade. The trip isn't until August. When would you book?

It doesn't matter whose portal you go through! You can go thorugh your portal and get yourself 5 pts/dollar and give him the Freedom 5 points/dollar. Everybody's happy!
