Rebook on Ship?

Hi Everyone,
I'm curious...what types of discounts do you get when rebooking on your cruise? What happens if you can't make it and need to move your travel dates?

Thanks in advance

Two components: 10% discount over prevailing fare plus an on-board booking credit to your stateroom account on the booked cruise. Credit is $200 for seven night and longer cruises and $100 for shorter itineraries. The seven night and longer cruises get a reduced deposit (10% rather than 20%), but that is just a short term benefit since the balance due is that much higher.

Note you can also do a “Placeholder” booking with a refundable $250 deposit without specifying an actual future cruise date. Convert it to an actual booking for a sailing that starts within 24 months of the date of the Placeholder and get the on-board booking benefits for that cruise.

If you book a cruise and later have to move your travel dates, you can transfer the booking benefits so long as you stay within the 24-month window. You will pay the prevailing fares when booking the replacement cruise, so it may be more expensive as the fares change dynamically over time.

Ditto everything the PP said. Just be aware that the 10% discount is excluded for concierge cabins on any cruise and for any blockout date cruises, which are typically over major holidays like Christmas Day, New Year's and Easter, but the blockout dates vary year to year. You still get the $100 or $200 onboard credit (OBC), though.

Is "rebooking" when you book a cruise before a cruise and then you can rebook onboard to get a discount and OB credit?

I am going on a cruise this October and was considering booking the Dream for next April. I didn't really want to wait until October to book, but I would like the OB discount. Would this work?

Yes, we often do this. We book on opening day and then shop the booking on our next cruise, if the total and credit is lower than original price we have the booking "rebooked" in order to save a few dollars. We always book a placeholder as well so with the exception of when we book opening day without that placeholder, our original price is nearly always lower.

Last time I was on, we made a placeholder deposit, which gave us a 10% discount on our next cruise.

But...there was something about booking more than one room (I believe up to three) if you did it on the cruise. Does anyone know the specifics?

If you switch your reservation to a TA do you still get the OBC from Disney? Or just your TA?

Depends on your TA company. I use Dreams Unlimited and you get your full placeholder obc and you get half of what DU offers to a new booking. So if you book a 7 night cruise you would get $200 from dcl for booking on board and you would get $25 per $1000 of your cruise price. So if your cruise cost $4000 you would get $100 additional obc. If you booked a new cruise through DU your obc would be double (not booking onboard or placeholder). Of course DU is a sponsor of the disboards. Other TAs have offers too, but I only use DU. When I buy a placeholder during a cruise, the CM can see the name of my TA and sends my placeholder to my TA at DU.

When you are on a cruise, you may book up to 2 rooms on the same future cruise (or 2 placeholders) that will both receive the onboard booking perks.

You can book additional rooms on the same cruise, or book additional future cruises, but they will not get the onboard booking perks.

The 2 room limit is based on home address of the person(s) booking onboard. For example, if it's just 2 adults (same home address) in the room, they can only book 2 rooms. If there are 2 adults sharing a room with 2 separate home addresses, each one may book up to 2 rooms on the same future cruise.

If there are 2 adults sharing a room with 2 separate home addresses, each one may book up to 2 rooms on the same future cruise.
If two adults sharing a room with separate addresses each book 2, do all four have to be used on the same cruise? Or could Adult A book 2 for Date X and Adult B book their 2 for a different Date Y?

Good question. My guess is that, since each separate household address can book 2 rooms on one future cruise, the two individuals could book for different cruises. Don't have any experience with that, however.
