I love credit cards so much!

Still need to load photos from my camera to imgr so I can post them but we are having a ton of fun. Big Thunder mountain was worth the trip here. It's smooth and awesome and better than wdw.

I got to be the rebel spy! Which is hilarious cause as some here now I'm not a star wars fan. Though it did clue us in on how they probably pick the person. Going back to the park after a short break at thr hotel. Illumination isn't until 11 and it's 430 now.

I need to vent to people who will understand. I applied for CIP on Thursday and it is still saying 30 days. I have been hesitant on the business cards and I’m now 2nd guessing everything. I’m off to work now so I won’t be able to check till late tonight.... again.

That's not that long. I wouldn't sweat it. I've gotten the 30 day message for several days on all four Chase cards I currently have.

Question- I made a purchase on Hilton cc on May 10, closing date for acct is May 25, last points activity was May 29,2017- did I mess this up completely time wise? I'm concerned my points won't post in time to 'save' my acct..... can't find info elsewhere -
Anyone with a DP here? I really can't afford to lose these points.....:confused3

I would not transfer it if you are not using UR's. If you transfer it and just pay with gift cards you have to read each card to Chase as they have to apply the payments, you won't be able to do it yourself.

Agreed. @marsh0013 the only reason to transfer, or use, Chase would be to use UR points to pay. If you won't use any points to pay on that ressie I'd rather keep it under my control.

That's what I figured, thanks for confirming! I'll report back after I call tonight about getting the 1 reservation with the dining plan.

Have you called HHonors yet? They should be able to tell you when exactly the account will expire, if they have any kind of grace period, and maybe even be able to extend it or something. I haven't dealt with Hilton yet because when ours expired we were way past the expiration date (totally forgot when our last stay was) but I found a few of my programs didn't cut off right away, they must have had a couple days grace period on them, so it's probably worth the call. Or they could tell you reinstatement policies, some programs have those where they can reinstate points within a certain period after cancel or expiration.

I wouldn't 2nd guess anything on those facts alone :) It's widely known that biz apps can sit pending for a week at times.

My wife's application sat pending at 30 days for awhile last month. We applied on Thursday April 5th late morning, status line was immediately at 30 days. It remained that way for 5 days, then the status line changed to approved between 2am and 9am on Wednesday April 11th (so it was almost 6 full days at the "30 days" status).

I'd just continue to try to stay patient (lol!). :)

Expiring Hilton points is a tough one - unlike Marriott who is very transparent about your expiration date Hilton is much more "secretive" about it. As @miztressuz said - I'd call and see if somebody can help get you the actual timeline (don't be surprised if they can't even help though as I've had that experience with them before too).

My dh was denied for the CIC. Got the letter in the hubbub of grad stuff so I've not been able to get on and chat with y'all about it. He was denied for 1) too new of business (2 years) 2) not enough business revenue ($500) and 3) too much available credit (i lowered limits only a couple of days before applying so definitely not enough time).

According to the letter, his credit score was 833. Yet they deny :confused3

I'm wondering if this means he should lay off chase. He is 3/24 (will be 2/24 next month) and last Chase card was CIP in 10/17 (before that was CSR 3/17) so it isn't like he's been hitting them hard at all. But I obviously want to behave and avoid any shutdown.

And this isn't giving me any hope. I put 1 year in business because it's not quite yet been 2 years since I started selling on a regular basis, and listed my revenue as $650, and I had only lowered the last limit which was the big one a couple days before. I'll probably call the status line again today. Hopefully they do it quick and not keep me hanging for a few days before dropping the ax!

@wendow, that CIC denial for your DH is just crazy. I have to agree with the others who think it's because you didn't allow enough time for the reduced CLs to register before applying. I would definitely think you are safe to try again in 30 days (assuming the 50k offer is still there for CIC; if not maybe try for CIU instead) once the reduced CLs have flowed through Chase's system. @miztressuz, fingers crossed for you, but if you do get denied, then I'd think the same advice would apply. My DH's profile just wasn't that different when he got approved, and his timing was far worse than wendow's, because he was approved for the CIP on 3/21/18 (after getting the CSP on 2/10/18). I put slightly more biz revenue for him ($1,850) but only 1 year in biz. I think the difference might be that I lowered the CL on his CSP about three weeks before applying for the CIC. I also included all of my income in the household income amount I used on the application.

ETA: When I reduced the CL on DH's CSP, I had it lowered from $35k down to $10k. The CL on his new CIC is only $7k (after a CIP approval with a $9k CL in March). So it definitely seems like Chase is very focused on the overall CLs.

Just a note on support links. I went in to fix my CSR support link this morning based on some of the posts over the weekend. My CF link was also giving me an error message before accessing the referral page, so I generated a new link for that one too.

ETA: On the Amex support link page, the link for the higher Delta Biz sign-up offer was also dead, so I removed that link.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. I found an option to pool DH and my accts together, and according to my reading other sites, this will count as 'activity' also, so I should be all set! (I had to leave a couple hundred points behind but that was ok) This seems to be a nice option, and it creates just one acct to manage (and I already got an amazon gc for mine which don't expire till august)

SO...not been on for days...and no energy to catch up! Please, do tell, if anything terribly exciting happened! I want to know!! Missed you all!

Got my 'first born' graduated. She also turned 18yo this past week, so lots of biggies. Graduating her was so surreal. Not just as a mom but as a homeschool mom. I began the homeschool thing with her in K and it was to be for ONE YEAR. One year and then we would figure out what we were going to do for school because, no way, no how, was I homeschooling all the way through. But one year turned into two and three and so on. It's been the best decision our family has ever made and I wouldn't change it for anything. It's the road less traveled but the one that has made all the difference for us. I don't think it's for everyone. It's hard, and not to say that other moms couldn't do it, but I really believe if you are meant to do it, you kind of know it inside. You feel 'called', and if you feel that, then you and your children will thrive. Otherwise, the struggle is real. So, I'd never push it on people cause I just don't think it is for all.

I thought I'd share a couple of pics. And then I remembered that I can never figure out how. I miss photobucket when it was free. So, if I figure it out, I may throw some up.

I've still got family in town the next few days but the big stuff is done!! So glad. It's been a lot planning all this. I know all you parents who've already graduated kids can relate. WOW, I had no idea before!! Now, I get it. I totally get it!!

Congrats mama! My oldest graduated last may ON her 18th bday! It was quite an event. I know how proud, exhausted, joyful, etc you are feeling right now.
Glad the hard part is behind you and you can now relax and enjoy the family.

I have been feeling like I should pull my boys and homeschool them for a couple years now but haven't bitten the bullet. Over the last few months I have been feeling it much more strongly. My DD was a perfect fit for public school, but my boys are not. I discussed the possibility with them for next year and told them about some tutorials I have found (hockey, even!). My youngest son wanted to do it for about 2 weeks, then changed his mind. My oldest son said no from the start. I am going to continue to discuss it this summer and see where it leads us. The final straw for me was not allowing parents at any school events over the last 2 months...(field day, spelling bee, etc.) in the name of security. That is over the top. Combine that with how teaching is so focused on testing, and other issues I have had over the years with public ed, and I am just ready to be done with it.

Sorry about your DH and the CIC. :( That stings. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to these things. I wonder if it was the $500 that did it.

For anyone thinking of an AA card DoC and Reddit have reports of people getting the Citi $200 statement credit for AA purchases and being matched to 70,000 miles on personal & biz. Biz: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi...00-miles-business-offer-200-statement-credit/
Personal:

As always matches are YMMV but I’ve been matched 3/3 Citi AA’s (don’t ask for more than 20k miles).

Citi 24 month language both, can get bonuses on each card though. Personal would count against 5/24, business would not. (My eBay biz with “$2k” revenue was given an 11k credit line with instant approval so Citi seems fairly easy BUT you must have 5 years of credit history for a Citi biz card.)

OK, so I have now got 2 POSTED sams club online orders on the amex. The $15/$30 offer is still NOT PENDING! What gives? Has anyone received the credit yet?

ETA: And in other news, got a fraud alert on DH's CSR this am. UGGHH. That is the one card he carries with him. I have told him to carry a 2nd card exactly for this possibility. He is out of town for work til Wed pm and will have to use a debit now. GRRR. I thought the chip thing is supposed to prevent the fraud anyways?:sad2:

Nobody has received the Sam’s Club credit yet. I’ve seen it take a month for credits to come in so I’m not worried yet.

Please remind me, which OTA does Chase Ultimate Rewards use? I'm looking at a few low budget hotels across from DL, and I can't figure out whether I can book them with UR when they aren't showing up on the Chase travel site. Thanks!

I’m so sorry again for your (husband’s) denial. I think reasons 1 and 2 are BS and seem like they were thrown in there to puff up the denial because we know Chase approves applications with less history and less revenue. It seems like an issue with too much credit extended. IIRC, you were concerned that DH’s total CL was way over 50% of income and reduced them like two days before applying. Maybe DH really was over what Chase was willing to extend in credit and your reductions needed more time to reflect (vs. those who reduced credit just days before an application, but it didn't matter because credit line to income wasn't a deciding factor).

It looks like DH got 1 Chase card in the last 12 months, and that card was over 6 months ago. That's kind of the optimal recommended gap between Chase business card applications. I know you were also concerned that there's not been enough time since DH opened his CIP in 10/17, but that wasn't cited as a reason for denial of the CIC. So based on DH's card count and history and the reasons stated in the denial letter, I think he's safe to try again in a month. I think we'll have a better idea later today, and definitely in the next few days, how Chase's business card lineup will look like, i.e., if/when the CIU is coming out and with how big of a bonus, and if the CIC is going away or staying around and with what bonus. (As I'm writing this, Chase still hasn't pulled the 50k UR offer on the CIC.) That should help with your decision moving forward. Meanwhile, I wonder if DH can increase his online sales a little?

Thanks, Lain. I was hoping you would also think it was probably more the CL issue than anything else. I'll wait to see what the new biz card looks like, and then decide which one to go for in 30 days (if CIC still an option...really wanted that card!).

Both of my Sam's orders still show as processing, and the pending charges have disappeared. I'm hoping there is just a delay and they don't get cancelled. I suspect the pending charges will reappear when the orders are shipped.
