*** The Official August 2018 Thread*** - let's have some fun....

If my experience is any indication, it will be much easier to get TSMM than SDD in the morning. I had TSMM on another day, so I didn't mind waiting for an afternoon SDD. Not yet sure if I'll be able to ride the Alien Saucer ride, but I'm not bothered about it. I rode Mater's in Disneyland, and while fun, I'm not planning my day around it. I'm more interested in trying for multiple rides on RnR and ToT in the morning instead. I'm sure others have the same idea, so we'll see how it goes.

Thank you! My brother was leaning more towards trying for TSMM than SDD but will definitely grab SDD if the timing works. We're not sure yet about Alien yet, it will depend on how the wait times are. I know we have one person that can't handle spinning rides, no matter how slow they spin, but if the wait isn't too bad, we'll probably do it.

My fastpass day is tomorrow and we are also doing Hollywood studios on the 27th… I’ll let you know what it looks like

Thank you! Our FP day is next Wednesday. I'm hoping we'll be able to rope drop, so far it's the first day back to the 9AM opening with no 7AM or 8AM EMH.

I guess by mid July they may update the times for August… We may see a little adjustment to the opening or closing of some of the parks

Hey there fellow August travelers. I have a bit of strategy I need help with. We plan to rope drop HS on 8/27. Of course SDD is our rope drop objective but our kids—total Star Wars fans—also want to sign up for Jedi training. What’s a family to do? If one parent takes both kids to Jedi training for sign up and one parent saves a spot in line for SDD, would we be breaking all Disney etiquette for rope drop norms?

I welcome any advice and thoughts.

Global entry interview??? Is that new? We're in Victoria so the closest one is in Vancouver!

Global entry interviews for our expedited customs when returning to the USA...it is part of a gift for my college bound daughter who plans to have international paid internships. The one closest to me had availability next year. :headache: So, I went North (not that far from you) just for the interview. We may pop over to Vancouver for the day. When I have more time I would love to visit your lovely city!

Anyone interested in doing a memory maker share? I did one last year with 3 other people and it went very smoothly.

I didn't even think of the possibility they may update times. I know the week of the 27th is pretty much a lighter crowd week at the parks so I never even considered they would adjust hours.

Did fastpases yesterday. Get on at 7am if you want Slinky dog or fight of passage. I also got lucky and found a lunch reservation ay crystal palace on the 25th. See you at WDW in 59 days. :yay::cool1:

Well, that was an ugly wake up! DH had to get up early to catch a 7am ferry so I got up when his alarm went off at 5! I managed to get everything I wanted, although not at the exact times I would prefer but I can try and move stuff around in the coming days. (And yes, I know that some of the things I got FP+ for are not ones that I need but there were a couple of parks where I really didn't know what else to grab!)

You may not be able to save them a spot in line for SDD. Typically cast members will not allow line jumping at all (and CAN remove you from the park if you do, but they more than likely would just remove you from the line if caught), but especially not for new attractions like SDD. You'd be better off trying to get a SDD FP+ if you can snag one and then RD for JTA. Or, sign up for JTA and then zip over to SDD - just anticipate you'll have a wait at SDD. JTA line moves pretty quick if you get their first thing. You would definitely tick off other guests in line.

I figured as much. Didn’t know you could be thrown out of the park!! I think we will stake out JTA to be first in line then head to TSL. My window for FP opens 6/27. It should be interesting!!

Thank you

You can, but I think it rarely happens that you would get thrown out of the park - that's probably reserved for guests that might get violent when confronted. When I worked on the Jungle Cruise we would politely ask them to leave the line if we saw it, but the queue design and the cast member at the attraction entrance also made it pretty tough to jump the line.

Our FP window opens on 6/26. Once I snag our FP for our park days I could scope out HS days for you? We have 2 HS 1/2 days planned, a PM 60+0 and an AM 60+7

JTA is worth it though if your kids are into that. It's a fun experience.

I originally had other plans for the 15th, but moved some things around and realized I could try for Moonlight Magic @ Epcot during today’s second round.

I was thinking it was a pipe dream to try, but after two error pages I was able to get them - woohoo!

Thanks. We’re a party of four. I’m thinking we will end up touring TSL in the morning then leave for the afternoon come back for our early dinner ADR at sci-fi then do all things Star Wars in the evening. I’m so very excited.

Moonlight Magic???

had an EXCELLENT FP morning. 7am sharp

had NO website troubles at all (minus the regular algorithms that don't show all the available times if you don't know how to search properly)

we are there for 14 days (10 in park tickets + 3 Halloween parties)

got FP for 12 days (10 regular and 2 Halloween...our third Halloween is on a reg ticket day so we couldn't double up)

couldn't get a morning for SDD at 60+3 but got 930 am SDD for 60+8 + 60+12

got FOP easily 2x cause we go 60+7 + 60+11

didn't have to deal with SDMT, PP or Pooh cause we have EMM 2x during trip so MK fp was easy

The Epcot character meet and greet is now tier 1 (I don't think it was before)...kinda sucks cause Epcot Tier 2 is a wasteland lol

our 2 halloween night FP were for 330-430, 430-530, 530-600

for whoever was looking for 8/27 Hollywood Studios SDD info, there are some LATE am left and aft, eve still

I’ll be there too! Got mine the first round. As for FPS i got all I wanted but they are all later day. My DH and DD will not get up and out and I’m not going midday. Kills me because I could have gotten anything I wanted but they are night owls. Can’t do late night and early morning, just doesn’t work for us.
