Halloween Attractions/Events (outside of DLR) - middle range of scary?

I'm planning a trip to DLR in October. We're already doing MHP, but she wants to do some other fun Halloween-y stuff.

However, the promos (and reviews) of HHR seem to paint a very gruesome/scary picture. She's 18, but has pretty bad anxiety. I think someone running at her with weapons or following behind her will not be a good idea.

Is there something else we can do that's maybe in the range of spooky/paranormal and not so "let's pretend we're getting murdered?" o_O:D

Willing to drive up to LA and/or down to SD if need be.

In San Diego there are Haunted tours. Most take place in Old Town, but some take a trolley/bus to other areas. They are actual haunted sites and graveyards. There are no costumed characters or anything.

Legoland has Brick or Treat, but most of the people there will be very young children. Sea World has something, but I don't know exactly what they do.

Thanks! I did see some of the San Diego tours. I'll have to see if Yelp has more reviews.

I would avoid HHN or Knott's Scary Farm as there are a lot of jump scares, loud noises, people following you, etc. that are not good for anxiety! If you want to venture to LA, Griffith Park has a great Ghost Train put on by the LA Live Steamers and the park itself has a lot of other great attractions to explore.

Thanks!! Good info to have. Is the Ghost Train the one that's the miniature style ones for kids to ride on?

Yes it's a miniature train but adults ride too. In fact I think there is a minimum height so infants/very young children cannot ride.
