Say Please in French - A June and Sept. 2018 DLP TR *Updated 4/22

Yes, you read that right. My crazy husband doesn’t drink coffee. Of any kind.
Neither does mine! Now, I don't drink coffee either but I'm an absolute monster without my morning tea. I'm just blown away by people with no reliance on caffeine :P

One of my favorites of them from the trip…
So precious!!!

I remembered the Paris version being really rough, and all I could think about was how it gave me a headache the last time I tried it.
Hopefully when they take it down to Marvel-fy it, they'll do some adjustments to make it smoother. Or am I too optimistic???

I don’t even mind that Landon wasn’t cooperating and wouldn’t smile, because getting a family picture on a ride like this is such a rare gem
What a beautiful family :)

Just about then, other families started sprouting up around us and before the Cast Members knew it, a significant line had formed. To which they began glaring and speaking in rapid French whispers.
Oh weird! One of those cultural differences, I supposed. It's strange to think of Disney CMs upset that people line up so early when in the US parks it's so expected. I'll be interested to see if anyone responds on here on if that is a rude thing to do in DLP!

That pic of the kids in bed is priceless!

I was going to mention that I don't drink coffee either but the fact that Alex doesn't indulge in any kind of caffeine baffles me! Soda is my kryptonite hahah

Glad you could ride Crush's Coaster during early morning hours. And that Evie found a ride she liked!

I'm excited for them to bring the Ratatouille ride to Epcot!

Mickey & the Magician looks/sounds so awesome!

It was a fun ride and Evie loved it even more having experienced it herself. Although I haven’t gone on either, I think it’s very similar to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree in California and Alien Swirling Saucers in Hollywood Studios. Anyone done both and can confirm this?
They are similar but Mater/Aliens is much better! Those rides have more of a whipping motion, which sounds rough but its more fun -so there are 2 cars, the lead car with the "engine" and then the people sit in the back car which swings from side to side (not freely, it's timed for the ride motion). Also the Cars one just does 2 separate figure-8's. The others have bigger tracks - basically 2 double 8's connected together. It also loads faster since there are 2 different turntables.

So, overall, Cars was fine, but not as good!

Alex did tell me when he saw me again that the ride was still jerky and that it was probably best I had skipped it. Good to know I had made the right call!
Yeah, RnRC was rough!

I tried really hard to get a selfie with this airplane in honor of Evie. It was from the Micheal Bay movie I watched when I was twelve and first heard the name Evelyn. I fell a little bit in love with the actress, Kate Beckinsale, and thought she was the most beautiful woman with such an eloquent name and just knew if I ever had a daughter I would want her to be called something so lovely.

Anyone care to take a guess at what movie I am referring to?
Pearl Harbor? I just remember that being the first Kate Beckinsale movie I saw.

And bickered with his sister over animal crackers while we got in line. We managed to walk up to the entrance, which were sets of turnstiles, at eleven o’clock and encountered Cast Members who were shocked to see a family turning up to wait 50 minutes before the show.

They didn’t hide their criticism when they repeatedly told us, “The show does not begin until 11:50.”

“We know.”

“Then why are you here?”

“We’re waiting.”

….

“Why?”

Just about then, other families started sprouting up around us and before the Cast Members knew it, a significant line had formed. To which they began glaring and speaking in rapid French whispers.
See, that's silly on the part of the CMs. The line totally would build up early when I was there - 30 minutes before and over half the queue was full!

About half the characters spoke French and the other half spoke English, so while I couldn’t understand everything, most of it was easy to follow. And honestly, I was so engrossed in the mechanics of the show and the music that I could have cared less what everyone was saying.

The show stands on its own without the dialogue.
Agreed, lovely show!

Yay so happy that you're going to the UK. Will your visit back to the states be in early May 2019 and a quick stop by the Epic Dis meet?

Yes, you read that right. My crazy husband doesn’t drink coffee. Of any kind.

I don't drink coffee nor do I like the smell of it. My husband though used to drink pots a day.

Nor does he drink sodas except every great once in awhile

Ok I at least drink pop but it is usually rootbeer that caffeine free. I didn't start drinking tea until recently and it is only on occasion. More so when I am congested.

Hey Alicia, finally got caught up completely (3 updates worth!) and gotta say, it's now on my bucket list to visit DLP. I also want to visit Hong Kong too. I'm soooooo excited for you to get to move to England and begin your new adventure there! How wonderful you get to continue living out your dreams and showing the kids the world. You will never regret it.

Lovely that you and Dugette''s family hit it off so well. It's so wonderful to have friends along the way to share common interests with that you also get along with so well. The photos of Landon and Izzy are simply heartwarming. :goodvibes

Considering 30 minutes before start time we were turned down several times before we managed to see the show during quieter periods because it was "Full" then I think this was a perfectly acceptable time to show up.

WOW, Alex's name on that Starbucks cup...:rotfl2: What the heck is that about?!?

We loved Crush's Coaster when we visited DLP. We didn't spend much time in the Studios park except to ride Ratatouille and Crush, and both of those rides are fantastic. I'm really excited to see Ratatouille introduced in France at Epcot. I think it will be a great addition to WS and to the park in general for a family friendly attraction.

That picture of Izzy and Landon holding hands is PRECIOUS! Again, how lucky and wonderful that you & Dugette were visiting DLP at the same time!

I don't think I had any idea Evie had been named after Pearl Harbor. Very cool! I love that movie.

Thanks! I may take you up on that! I went once way back like 20 years ago! I dont think you even needed to plan thing back then! Right now I’m working on my must dos list as a start!

I will say even with the :scared1: price tag of inventions it’s on the top of the eating list! It reminds me a lot of the plaza breakfast in Disneyland, which if I remember correctly had Hook, Minnie, Rafiki, Pooh, Perla, I know I’m missing some people. But it was a wide mix and ms 4 loves characters right now!

Oh this Mickey Magic show looks ahmazing! Going on the top of the list too! I have a MasterCard need to look into how I get the passes!

A few people have mentioned that Inventions reminded them of the Plaza breakfast in DL. It's so fun and spontaneous to see what character is going to pop up next.

Mickey the Magician is a must see when in DLP! I'm not positive, but I believe if you have a Mastercard all you need to do is go to customer service at park opening and ask for the front of the line passes. However, I am not positive on that. @Lesley Wake, is this right?

Evie has great taste!

Donkeys are such fun, mischievous animals!

I knew you'd be able to relate to her admiration of donkeys.

Especially since we are not paying the budget-busting teenage boy car insurance rates.

Good point! I hadn't thought about the insurance factor.

took the boys to see Disney's Lion King stage show in Boston, gosh, when they were 6 and 3 or maybe 7 and 4, with our playgroup friends and family.

It was fabulous, even though Ben slept through the second act on Mark's shoulder.

Kids have a knack for sleeping through some pretty interesting stuff, but I'm sure he really enjoyed the first act! And, man, that's an awesome playgroup outing! I think I saw you had a lunch recently with old playgroup friends...how awesome that you guys were able to coordinate that! I think some of the fellow moms you befriend when you're in the baby trenches are the most special, and I can only hope I can do something similar when Landon and Evie are older.

Wow following your descriptions of the attractions in your latest update I now really, really want to go to DLP!! Ratatouille sounds like such fun and the Magician Mickey show looks amazing!
Laughing out loud at the Starbucks cups ( both Alex’s & “Marc with c”s):rotfl:
Love the photo of Landon and his new friend
Have you seen those world maps that allow you to scratch off the places you’ve visited? Not sure of the cost but I bet Landon and Evie would enjoy uncovering all the places you’ve been :goodvibes

When compared to WDW, Disneyland Paris doesn't hold a candle to the number of attractions and shows. However, what they do have is amazing. Alex and I are kind of happy we're staying close so we can explore the parks a few more times. We're hoping to run the races again next fall, and I imagine sometime before our next move, we will go back for a final viewing of Mickey the Magician.

If I remember correctly, you said you were trying to get to WDW in 2020(?), but if you decide to go back to DLP in the next 3-4 years, perhaps our trips will overlap.

Considering 30 minutes before start time we were turned down several times before we managed to see the show during quieter periods because it was "Full" then I think this was a perfectly acceptable time to show up.

Really?! That's interesting. I wonder why we were given so much grief for queing up early then. Maybe it was just an off day for the Cast Members.

Neither does mine! Now, I don't drink coffee either but I'm an absolute monster without my morning tea. I'm just blown away by people with no reliance on caffeine :P

I don't understand how people can function without caffeine, either. I mean, I know it's the healthier route and better for you, but I'm still amazed when people follow that method!

That's true, I forgot about the Marvel-refurb! Let's hope that'll help a bit.

Apparently, it was just an off day for those Cast Members, because people have gotten turned away for it being at capacity 30 minutes out. :confused3

That pic of the kids in bed is priceless!

Mickey & the Magician looks/sounds so awesome!

I couldn't imagine functioning without caffeine of any kind!
Crush's Coaster was so much fun; I'm so glad I got the chance to ride it once!

Ratatouille is going to be perfect in Epcot. I can already predict that it's going to generate a lot of traffic, but really...Epcot needs another big headliner. ::yes::

They are similar but Mater/Aliens is much better! So, overall, Cars was fine, but not as good!

Good to know! I can see how all those points make sense. I'll have to get Evie on Alien Swirling Saucers and see if she likes the bigger "thrill" aspect or if she prefers the slower Cars pace.

Pearl Harbor? I just remember that being the first Kate Beckinsale movie I saw.

Yep! That was the movie.

Yay so happy that you're going to the UK. Will your visit back to the states be in early May 2019 and a quick stop by the Epic Dis meet?

I wish! I am so disappointed that I'm having to miss the epic meet up. Especially since that first week in May is my favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World!
But unfortunately, we're trying to keep Landon in school as long as possible, so we will still be in Germany most of May.

I had to laugh at Alex's cup, too funny!!

I think you may be referring to the movie Pearl Harbor??

Who knows what was going on with that name on the cup...it was wild!

And yes, that was the movie!

Ok I at least drink pop but it is usually rootbeer that caffeine free. I didn't start drinking tea until recently and it is only on occasion. More so when I am congested.

I don't really drink sodas, but if I splurge I usually have a root beer. They're so tasty, so I understand how that's your go-to choice.
And I agree with the tea; I rarely drink it unless I have a cold.

Disneyland Paris is definitely worth a visit for any Disney fan. It has great details and unique-to-that-park attractions. Plus, how can any steampunk fan not love a Jules Verne themed land?!

Alex and I are so excited to stay overseas and continue our adventures. We can only hope the places we take the kids to and various cultures they are learning about shapes them into kind and and spirited adults.

WOW, Alex's name on that Starbucks cup...:rotfl2: What the heck is that about?!?

Ratatouille is going to be great in Epcot; I think a lot of people are going to love it!

It was a pretty unique experience, being in a Disney park overseas with another DISer who had a kid! I mean, that's kind of a one of a kind story they can tell about how he met Izzy.
I'm sure if we're ever in WDW at the same time, Evie and Delilah would hit it off.

And yes! I can remember watching that movie and thinking, "Oh my gosh, Kate Beckinsale is so pretty. And her name is beautiful."
The name kind of stuck with me ever since, and thankfully Alex liked it. Well, I think he really liked Evie so he was willing to go along with it...

Be careful with your trip planning, for some reason they have 2 to 3 month gaps in the showing of Mickey and the Magician (in the Christmas season they have the big band show in the theater, but the show stopped way earlier)

I had no idea about this! Thank you for letting me know; I'll have to make sure I do my research before I book a trip.

I have a MasterCard need to look into how I get the passes!

Mickey the Magician is a must see when in DLP! I'm not positive, but I believe if you have a Mastercard all you need to do is go to customer service at park opening and ask for the front of the line passes. However, I am not positive on that. @Lesley Wake, is this right?

So the way it worked last summer was you went to customer service, showed your mastercard and they had reserved tickets for the shows. Only a certain number per show and you can just get one show per day (I think you could get up to 4 passes). In the summer it was Mickey and the Magician, the car stunt show, and the Marvel show. They have the passes at the GS locations in each park, so it's best to go to the one at Disneyland, since it opens over 30 minutes before the one at the Studios!

For the show itself, you still get into the regular queue. I think you are supposed to get in at least 30 minutes before showtime. Then you enter the theatre with the rest of the people, but there are specific seats which are blocked off for anyone with the MC passes. I don't know who the people who got in earlier were, but they could have had the disability passes? Or maybe the AP reserved viewing people? The 30 minutes thing really could help when you had those full shows, like the Marvel one, which would reach capacity 1 hr before showtime (they use turnstiles to keep track of the number of people entering the covered queue area; once that is full, no one else is allowed to join the queue and there is no secondary standby area to wait).

(Word to the wise: never share a bed with Landon. He’s gotta be one of the worst bed hogs around.)

Haha that's hilarious!

Yes, you read that right. My crazy husband doesn’t drink coffee. Of any kind.

Not a lick.

Do I need to pause here to allow you to soak that in?

He doesn’t need any tea in the mornings, either.
(Nor does he drink sodas except every great once in awhile.)
He simply….wakes up. A big glass of water with his breakfast and he’s good to run off for a full day of work. On the weekends, he’ll have an energy drink, but not because he needs the caffeine, more as an indulgent treat for himself.

Wow! That's impressive! I don't know how he does it!

Apparently, the name ALEX got turned into:
0001-jpg.369520

I don’t even know….

:rotfl:

Basically, rather than getting a card that works as a Fastpass and requires the user to walk through the FP queue, the parent gets led right to the loading platforms.

Interesting...

One of my favorites of them from the trip

This is so sweet! How nice that Landon was able to enjoy time with such a great friend on your trip—Disney, bringing people together! :goodvibes

0019-jpg.369529

I don’t even mind that Landon wasn’t cooperating and wouldn’t smile, because getting a family picture on a ride like this is such a rare gem.

Despite Landon's unimpressed expression, this is a sweet family picture. How nice!

He was also getting hungry, and that made for a somewhat irritable five year old over the next hour.

Landon and I have this in common.

WE’RE USED TO FESTIVAL OF FANTASY CRAZINESS! WE FORGOT PEOPLE DON’T DROP ELBOWS FOR BEING FIRST TO GET IN PHILHARMAGIC HERE.

:rotfl:

Now I'm imagining how ridiculous it would look if the rope drop crowds that race to 7DMT at WDW suddenly started turning and run-walking to Philharmagic instead!

What a beautiful show! I love Belle's dress.

I love it all.

And now I’m sitting here thinking, “Man, I want to go back and experience all these things again.”

The power of the Disney parks.

Funny how Disney will do that for you! :goodvibes I've been loving your stories and reviews from Disneyland Paris!

an.

If I remember correctly, you said you were trying to get to WDW in 2020(?), but if you decide to go back to DLP in the next 3-4 years, perhaps our trips will overlap.

You have a great memory! Yes we’re hoping for 2020 but if a trip to DLP pops up I’ll be sure to let you know :goodvibes
Do you intend visiting Northern Ireland when living in the Uk? We have Giant’s causeway! Game of Thrones is filmed here so lots of tours related to that and of course the Titanic was built here ( my boys often point out that we shouldn’t be so proud of this given that she sank:rotfl:). I could list more attractions but I’m starting to sound like a salesperson so I won’t lol. Just saying if you do happen to travel this way there’s lots to see and I’m here too!:rotfl::thumbsup2
