All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY Charts)

Sorry it was actually 3 points not 2.

Have a week 48+49 FW at RIV. Which was 150 and 147 points.

They added 3 extra points to the 147 to make it a total 150 points.

They also were willing to do a 20 points extra on a 130 point FW as well. But would have been way touch of a premium and looking at when week 50 vs 48 fell we liked week 48 more.

In the end this next year week 48 will be 149 points anyways so it would be a 1 point premium off just booking it. Plus I expect additional point changes to make December more expensive.

And you have a 150 point FW, not a 147 FW + 3 point contract, correct?

UY and FW are completely seperate and not connected.

Many will say it's better to have a UY closer to the FW. For me we have an April UY with a December FW for both of them.

Pick your UY based on your expected future travel times.
We have a Sept UY with a fixed week in December. Works out great. Know that if you cancel your FW the points revert back into your membership UY. So if I cancel my Dec. FW, those points revert back to Sept. UY points.

When is it usually busy season for DVC?

September through January plus President's Day week in February through Princess Half Marathon weekend. The first two weeks of December are the busiest times of year and bookings go fastest. Other high times are Columbus Day weekend, Wine and Dine Half Marathon weekend in early November, and Marathon weekend in January.

So the FW is 147 but they wrote the contract as 150 points instead. So they padded it with 3 extra points if I cancel the week I get the extra points if I use the week it's 150 points used.

When is it usually busy season for DVC?

Right now it's September to December as the busiest.

This may change long term as point charts are adjusted and more festivals show up in other times.

December as an example is one of the cheapest times but if it becomes one of the more expensive will more people go during the summer? Time will tell.

Good thing about fixed week is that it guarantees you a room if you want it but also locks in the point requirement as well some people already save points with their fixed week.

Airfare can change over time, you are not forced to use the FW, and you can add on to your stay as well to still fly midweek.

Ask yourself if airfare started being cheaper on Sundays would you then change when you fly?

Yes, I fly on whatever day is cheapest. My sister has a TS Saturday to Saturday and their airfare is horrendous. I wish Friday was cheap to fly.

I did it! I got the FW at RVA, just signed the documents and already can see the points uploaded... doing the happy dance :)
Thanks for the info!

Woooo hooo!! Congratulations!!

I keep dragging my heels and kicking myself for not buying during the summer with the better incentives. I had a resale that just went through ROFR in the summer so my mind wasn’t on buying direct. I thought I would be content with only a resale, but FOMO is really getting to me!

FOMO is a great driver here.. I wanted to have the blue card plus being able to stay where I wanted (Riviera and any new one coming), plus the guaranteed week... a total emotional purchase LOL

What were the summer incentives for RVA? If you were to buy then, would it be for FW?

Summer Incentives for RVA were:
100-124 $190
125-149 $180
150-199 $170
200-299 $160
300-499 $155

I probably wouldn't have bought a FW two months ago, but I wasn't interested in buying direct either, so I never looked into it. I'm considering FW if I were to buy RVA now because I don't want to compete with resale owners in the future. They have nowhere to book but at RVA and everyone will start competing at the 11-month mark. I don't know which FW would suit me. This is a 50-year contract and my travel plans will definitely change in the future. My kids are little right now and taking them out of school to go on a week vacation in the future is out of the question. I also don't want to go during high peak times such as Presidents Week, Easter, Christmas & New Years' week. I see myself going more often either during the Fall or early December when I become an empty-nester. There is a lot to consider.

Is it possible to rent a fixed week reservation? Like changing the names in the reservation without having the owner as one of them..

Could you please explain this to me? For example, my FW requires 173 points and I would need 27 points to get hit the 200 point incentive. Would I be able to use those 27 points to book a night before or after the FW?

Also, let's say I need to cancel a FW and plan to use the points as regular points, how far in advance do I need to cancel that FW?
Technically, you would not be able to buy a small 27-point contract on top of the fixed week, as Disney requires a minimum of 50 points for an add-on at RIV or CCV. That said, there WAS someone on this board whose Guide was able to escalate and get approval for a small add-on on top of the FW, so it may be worth asking if that's something you want to do.

If you did get it, then yes, you could add on a 27-point contract in addition to your FW. If it had the same UY, it would be part of the same membership. You could use it to book a room before or after your FWs (as FWs run Sun-to-Sun unless they are a CCV runDisney week, this would be great for book Saturday night ahead of your FW). And if you cancelled your FW for a given year, you'd have the entire 200 points to use, bank, or borrow.

That was me :goodvibes

I wanted week 44 in a standard view studio at RIV, which is 130 points. I also wanted to hit the 150 pt summer incentive and I was inspired by Seth's posts about negotiating for extra points. I told my guide I wanted to get a 25 point separate contract and he got the OK from the higher ups.

I didn't tell my guide, but if they said I'd have to buy a minimum of 50 extra, I probably would've just added 70 for the 200 pt incentive level. It would've been less per point, but thousands more than I wanted to spend.

25 points was the smallest contract that you could get at CCV and RIV when purchasing in conjunction with a FW.

You would want two different contracts for the points.

If you are forced to have a single contract when you use the FW it would use all the points listed on the FW contract. My FW has 2 extra points on it so no big deal for the 1 or 2 times we use that one (have two) but would be a huge negative to basically pay the FW premium and then another 20+ points as well.

I definitely agree with getting the extra points as a separate contract. I like having the extra points to add on nights or book a separate trip.

Week 44 starts on 10/31 in 2021 and MS already made the reservation at 12 months. I'm considering opting out because I want to do a split stay that week with AKL. But as of right now, I like knowing it's booked in case there's low availability at RIV that week.

They don’t allow that when mixing resorts. Ie, I bought a CCV FW and they wouldn’t allow me to add a 25 point RIV contract.

Someday I may consider a week 48 FW. I was holding out on Reflections for that initially. I am somewhat kicking myself for not doing a RIV FW over F&W but we did end up with a Week 44 runDisney FW at CCV. But nothing really beats RIV, BWV, or BCV for F&W!

We are kicking around the idea of a week 48 FW at CCV, which is 118. Has anyone inquired about adding a 32 point contract to get to the 150 point incentive? Just wasn't sure if they'd be willing to sell a separate contract less than 50 points.

Yes you can get that shouldn't be an issue at all.

The restriction is at least 25 points on a separate contract for CCV or RIV.

That is a great week! We own week 49 at CCV. During those first two weeks of December airfare is cheap and weather is great. I’m surprised there are fixed weeks left for week 48 ( is 49 also available?).
