Called DVC Member Services twice now, same result. Go through the prompts to purchase only to hear "We are experiencing high call volume, please call back later" then disconnected.

After 1 hour 24 minutes I talked with a Cast Member and was told, "call DVC Member Services after 9 am ...".

Overall, I've had a good experience with them. The best I can remember I ended up with a Camry the last 2 times. Clean, newer and really no problems. The worst part was the wait at the counter and it wasn't that bad. I too rented through Costco, best price, with no issues.

I had also booked a preferred room and yes it is different from a preferred pool view. We were told by the Cast Member at the front desk that a preferred room "is a room within a short walking distance to the check in/dining area and it has nothing to do with a view."

I've used the DCL transportation and have also rented a car. Having said that, I prefer the DCL transportation over renting a car merely for convenience especially if doing back to WDW. Not that renting a car was that terrible it's just having to catch a shuttle to the rental car location...

I agree, 3 hours prior is the norm. Even on a "redeye" with a 5:30am departure it's 3 hours, yes even then.

Rented from Dollar several times. Just got back from WDW earlier this month and rented from Dollar with easy pickup and drop off.

Have you thought about contacting Mears? They seem to have vans(shuttles) available and I bet you're not the first to request this. You can ask the Concierge at the resort for the info.

We were there last May with a Thursday pickup and had no issues. Last couple of times at MCO it's been uneventful.

Look at Dollar they offer city specials and sometimes they are pretty reasonable.
