SAFD: I follow whatever training and workouts my coach gives me. I have a roughly half-distance tri and the Oceanman world finals in November. I imagine my Dopey training will be a build up of a few weeks of long runs once those are done followed by a short taper.

I have the 955, the model before the 965, and I love it. Lightweight, long battery life, and has almost every sport or activity imaginable. You can’t go wrong with the 965 especially since it has a much better screen. Good review here...

Depending on which Garmin model you have, you might be able to turn on the Virtual Pacer. It’s a handy way to have a quick glance at how you’re doing against your goal time without having to calculate in your head...

@accm in addition to the great advice from @jmasgat, I'd add making your target pace on your watch slightly faster than the 9:06/mile you’re after. This will help account for the extra distance you’ll end up running by not being able to run the tangents, dodging around people, etc. Using 9...

I just stocked up on the Speed 3s thanks to an online sale, and ordered a pair of the Pro 4 too. The Speed are usually my daily training shoe (though I do use my Kayano for long easy pace runs), and the Pro will enter the race rotation alongside my Edge+.
