Bay Lake Tower vs Grand Floridian DVC?

I'm partial to BLT but you really can't go wrong with VGF, IMO, especially if you're a foodie (Citrico's, Narcoossee's, Victoria and Albert).

    Small Contract owners

In the short window where any purchase of a direct contract got you blue card benefits, I bought a 25 point contract. I figured the difference in price between the direct contract and resale at the time, about $1500, would be recouped by the ability to purchase annual passes. I wasn't wrong! So...

What percentage of owners are membership extras eligible?

Before a certain date in 2016 all contracts (including resale) got member extra. Then, for about a two year period ANY direct points (i.e., as few as 25) gave you member extras. Then, for a couple of years, it was 75 points to get member extras. Now it's 150 points for member extras. This is...

    DVC Dining Discount Experience

I would have asked to speak to a manager. I've stopped carrying the expired DVC blue card since it expired years ago. For this server to request the card seems to indicate she's back working after a very long period, and doesn't know that the digital membership card is the current standard.

Buying Resale which would you choose

Consider the "age where the kids don't want to come anymore". If that means you won't be coming either, you now have a cap on when you'll want to sell the contract. It's been widely reported that average ownership is 10-15 years. With 2042 resorts being 18 years away, and everything else being...

Against the rules to sell point transfer at time of selling contract?

People have bought and stripped contracts of current year points and then sold them in short order. It's not an unheard of situation. However, you need to transfer those points out before you go through ROFR. Virtually all sale agreements today from brokers state that you are liable for points...

    How is Ohana These Days?

Went the first week of February. We were a group of four, three adults and one child. Except for the fact that the protein was served in bowls instead of off a skewer, it's back to its previous experience. The fact that you're not waiting on skewers noticeably made the meal faster. The food...

    BLT standard studio room quality

I was just in a 2 BR dedicated theme park view. I thought it was in very good condition. If I was to be extremely nit-picky, the only negative was that the sliding door to the balcony on of the rooms seem to be very stiff.

    Narcoossee's Putting Tables Together Request?

As I recall, there are only a few tables that seat more than six at this restaurant. To get to 7 or 8, you'll likely be on the upper level by the bar, because the central aisle would preclude moving tables around on the lower level.

    Landry's card

They asked for my Landry's card at Yak and Yeti, and glanced at my id to see the name matched what was on the card. Since the birthday reward is tied to the Landy's card, there's no need to see it on my id.

    BLT standard, high floor?

There aren't that many rooms on the first floor, and many are HA. It's much more likely you'll be on the second, third, or fourth floor. Some of the third floor even numbered rooms have an excellent view of the magic kingdom.

I wish Magic Bands could have DVC discount eligibility

I you hand me your band without providing your PIN, I would not be able to charge my meal to your band. My point was that if I am able to produce a band with the correct PIN, the server should be able to apply the appropriate discount for affiliations (AP, DVC-Y) they see on their band reader...

Be our Guest lack of value.

Lots of nostalgia in this thread... I, too, went when it was QS lunch and thought the food to be average, but the location was wonderful. Since it changed over to price fixed, I've eaten there about once per trip. The last trip we took the 6 year old DGD. She absolutely loved the whole...

Bay Lake which view is this?

This is definitely a picture out of a third floor room. Note the roof over the lobby on the right hand side. That's a really great "standard" view.

Bay Lake which view is this?

It's definitely a lake view. I've been in that room. Great view of the electric water pageant when it's in front of the wilderness lodge from that room.

Help with banking / borrowing strategy

By banking your April 2024 points that puts them in 2025, so use by March 31, 2026. Adding those to your April 2025 points, you have 249 points. Borrowing 102 points from 2026 gives you 351 for the September 2025 trip. You'll get 73 points in April 2026, to use by March 31, 2027. You can...

    Welcome Home Center announced

Seems like a strange place to put a member lounge. A better choice would have been to put it in one of the parks.

Are Restaurants Easier to Reserve Now?

We booked only dinners for our Feb 2024 trip at the 60 day opening window. I was looking for Space 220 lunch, but couldn't get that at 60 days. When we were there, I checked the day before we were going to Epcot and snagged lunch at Space 220, and had my choice of times! A LOT of people cancel...
