<sigh> Apologies for mistaking my Gismo for my RedSox -- I guess I was looking too hard for the good news that you were cruising again, RedSox! More cruises means more happy, though, despite my brain-lapses :) Right? :oops:o_O:D

They aren't *very controllable, though you can somewhat control the vent. We have always been comfortable/cool.

    All about the Autotrain

I completely agree. We did 2 nights in a Family Bedroom going to California with myself, DH, and kids 7 and 9. It was fine for us, and if your two little ones can cuddle together in the lower bunk that GrnMtnMan shows, then you'll be fine. Be aware that the top bunks are narrow and can be...

I agree with Chirple that the seas were nothing to be concerned about -- they were about what I would expect from an Atlantic crossing. There was one night where the closet doors rocked open and closed, and there were several days where walking straight down the hallways was a bit of an amusing...

    All about the Autotrain

Long-distance American trains are not punctual. In my experience with overnight train trips (Chicago - NY, Lorton - FL, NY - LA), it is common for trains to experience 3 hour arrival delays. I have had longer delays -- one NY to Chicago trip was an extra 7 or 8 hours, so I play it very safe...

    All about the Autotrain

My experience with passenger trains in the US is to always allow a solid 12 hour window for arriving at my destination. It doesn't stop me from loving train rides, it has just taught me not to plan things for arrival day =) Edited to add: 12 hours for any trip over, say, 8 hours expected duration.

That's terrible! I'm so sorry you were so sick and so stressed. :sad2: We did not get unusually sick on the cruise or after it: a bit of a cold here, a bit of jet-lag recovery there. I know how stressed we were before and after, but yours sounds extra-special bad.

My previous experiences with Disney and food issues has been superb. I've shepherded family with severe dairy allergies, this chocolate issue, and various other intolerances through many Disney trips, and I have only wonderful things to say about the care and diligence they used to feed my...

We arrived to what was announced as "an unusually low tide" that meant the standard gangways which link up to Deck 1 could not be used. There was a delay of about 45 minutes to get different gangways hooked up to Deck 3. These were very steep -- sort of a ramp with evenly spaced cross-bars that...

Perhaps, after the troubles there, they do not intend to return and so don't need the feedback?

Something just occurred to me: do you think, since this was a less expensive cruise filled mostly with people who already are loyal to DCL, that they used this as a training cruise? I know they were training a new Bingo caller, but perhaps there were a They regularly stop at these ports...

Huh. We were Deck 7, so we debarked quickly enough. While DH, the kids and I spent a few hours away, my parents just took a stroll and then when back to the dock. They said that they had to wait hours to get back on to the ship (they were finally let back on after 1:30) because people were...

Did you really not get off the ship until 1?? That's terrible! No wonder there were so many people returning late to the ship. It puts my experience into perspective if so many other people had their port visits shortened to that extent.

That really shocked me, too! The first thing the supervisor said when we finally met with her was basically, "We are so wonderful to you! We have graciously decided to refund the excursion costs! Isn't that amazing of us? That makes everything right." I looked at her in shock. There was, in my...

On a brighter note, I asked my children today where they might like to take their next vacation. They both answered "Barcelona!" Probably not going to happen soon, but it made me excessively happy :)
