AP holders from NY, NJ, Conn

Just a heads up for those concerned about returning to NY after FL travel. There *are* some exemptions to the 14 day quarantine mandate. If you think you might be considered an "essential worker" it would be worth it to Google and find out if you fall into the "exempt" group. This isn't a "loophole". It's written into Coumo's mandate. But it might help eliminate some stress for some following this thread.

I just wanted to follow up on this, as additional EOs have tightened exemptions. I was originally told I was simply exempt (healthcare). Then things changed and I could get cleared for work with a negative COVID test and self-monitoring. Now there will be no travel-related work clearances at my job, period.

At least in CT, the essential worker provision is only if travel to the affected state was for work. I can’t vacation in a hot spot, and come back and avoid quarantine, even if I’m returning to work in an essential job. Additionally, the option to test negative within 72 hours of travel if “unable to quarantine” has been clarified to exclude return to work as a reason not to quarantine. Instead, “unable to quarantine” is for something like traveling to CT to attend a funeral.

I’m not well-versed in other states’ quarantine requirements, but I imagine they are being similarly revised. So, as always in these ever-changing times, make sure you look up the most recent requirements shortly before travel to avoid a nasty surprise upon return.

I just sent this to Disney via email... I’m sure it won’t help but it made me feel better to send it. 😉

Now that the FL governor has extended the state of emergency and the 14 day quarantine requirement for NY/NJ/CT residents for another 60 days, what are Disney’s plans for Annual Passholders from these states? It is nearly impossible for many of us from these states to travel to FL because we will not be able to quarantine for 14 days before we enter Disney property for various reasons (ex. it is financially impossible to pay for a hotel to quarantine in for 14 days in addition to what we are already paying for the length of our vacation, we do not have enough vacation time to cover the quarantine in addition to our planned vacation, etc.).

The situation is no fault of your Annual Passholders or Disney, of course... but the circumstances do not allow a contingent of your most loyal customers to take full advantage of the benefits of their costly Annual Passes. It most certainly would be a sign of goodwill and an example of excellent service that we have come to know and love if Disney develops some sort of accommodation for Annual Passholders that are impacted by this quarantine... perhaps the choice of an additional extension of our AP’s that covers the length of time that the parks are open while the quarantine mandate is in place, or a refund for the same time period.

We are your most loyal customers... please consider reciprocating that loyalty to us with some reasonable options to accommodate this unprecedented situation.

GUYS!!! I sent the above email to Disney on 7/8, and just got a response... they extended my AP an additional 30 days! Holy cow! Here’s the email...

“Dear Kristin,

My name is Avalina and I'm with our VIPassholder Support Team. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience, and apologize for any delays in reaching you regarding your inquiries.

I have reviewed your account, and I see that your pass had been extended through June 7, 2021. This is an extension of 147 days, which accounted for the 117 days our theme parks were closed as well as a bonus 30 day extension for keeping your pass.

To thank you for being a loyal Passholder and to make up for any potential time you may have missed out on this Summer, I have added an additional 30 day extension to your pass. Your new expiration date is July 7, 2021.

Once again, I sincerely apologize that we were not able to assist with this matter sooner. If you have any other questions or challenges, please do not hesitate to contact us by calling us at 407-560-PASS (7277). Cast Members will be happy to assist you further. Thank you for being part of our Passholder Family!

Anyone flown into BDL lately? Just wondering how they're handling it? I know you have the option to take a test to shorten quarantine which is nice to see.

The testing option depends on where you're going. If you're from MA, you can substitute a negative test for quarantine. If you live in CT, the state requires the 14-day quarantine, regardless of test results. How strictly CT or your workplace/school enforces it is another matter, but there's no testing loophole at this time.

A previous poster gave the link to John Hopkins sight tracking the virus-according to that sight (If I'm reading it correctly) Florida has been a little over 12% positive for the 7 day rolling period. But then I bring up California, and California has been below 10% for quite awhile-why wouldn't Calif. come off the list? Again, it's very possible I'm not reading it correctly.

To come off the list, a state must be both under 10% positivity AND be under 10 new cases per 100,000 people.

Johns Hopkins data doesn't do per 100,000 people, but it looks like CA is 0.12 per 1,000, so that would make it 12 per 100,000. In contrast, NY and CT are at 0.04 per 1,000 people, and NJ is at 0.05 per 1,000 people. CA still has 3x the number of new infections per capita that NY and CT have.

Florida is still at .17 UGH, not sure about our mid-Oct trip at this point.
Yeah, we're mid-November, and I'm not sure at all. DH laughs at me for thinking it might happen "when the numbers are under control" because he thinks with flu season, travel will be even worse then. It's just so hard. After we cancelled FL this Aug, we planned Seattle for that week, but switched elsewhere when WA went on the list. Then by the time we were leaving, WA was back to being a green state, and we could have gone after all. I'm just going to hold onto my park and hotel reservations as long as I can. I realize that might mean paying higher fares for our plane tickets, but so be it. I'd rather that than deal with getting and using airline credit before it expires.

The thing is (and I'm sure people might feel differently) Disney and Universal seem to be doing pretty good with social distancing, masks etc., but until the state's numbers come down, we're from NY so we would have to quarantine. Other years when we go, we go off sight to gift shops, maybe explore other resorts. This year if we get to go, we figured we'd stay inside the Disney and Universal bubble and not leave it. Oh well...wishful thinking!

Now I just went on the website, it's showing Florida at .09. So if they keep it at that or under, they can come off in 7 days?
