Bewitch324 and FR's November 2014 Wishes Wedding

I can't remember - are you doing a buffet or plated? That (and the fact that it's Yacht Club) is the only reason I could think your menu tasting would be different. I know ours at the Boardwalk were set up like a buffet because they said they wanted us to have the food the same way we would on the wedding day (and that meant we all could have seconds!) We got a tiny whisk and cookie cutter after our tasting too - but this was all at the Boardwalk.

I love how Frank broke into Ariel's! Such a daredevil :rotfl:

We're doing a buffet too. I'm guessing they just must do things differently at the Yacht Club. At the end of the day, as long as the food tastes as good as it did at the tasting, I'll be happy. Would have loved a little more of that that Parmesan crusted chicken though....

Frank will LOVE that you called him a daredevil!!! :rotfl2:

You guys and your brunches are making me jealous. I absolutely love brunch but I cannot, cannot get up at 4am the morning of my wedding to get ready. The pics of Martha's and Ariel's look great! Can't help noticing the coloring is similar to that of the WP. Good choices!

I'll be honest...I'm dreading the 4 am wake up call...but I needed the lower minimum that came with the brunch so I'm just going to have to make it work...My mom says I probably won't be able to sleep the night before anyway so maybe it will be ok...(fingers crossed)

Thank you!

Just finished reading through your PJ and all the details in your wedding look so beautiful! I've never heard of the Unity Glass before. That is a really beautiful idea and sounds like you end up with a wonderful, meaningful display piece. I showed my partner and she is very intrigued too. Thank you for sharing!

I'm so glad you found something that might work for you two. I was so excited when I first read about Unity Glass on another bride's planning journal...it's a little expensive, but for a unique art piece that we'll have forever, I think it will be worth it!

Thank you for reading!

You and me both, Brooke, you and me both. I'm dreading the 4am or earlier wake up call (and I think I'm an earlier ceremony time than you!)....but Raist now gets up around 4am for work, and I'm not really getting back to sleep before my alarm at 5:40, so I'm probably going to be used to getting up by 4-4:30am by the time our wedding comes around. So, hopefully it won't be quite so bad.

That lower brunch minimum makes a huge difference, doesn't it? I've got a small guest list (especially compared to yours), and I know I saw a difference when cost comparing the different times of day!

Hello everyone! Hope y'all are having a good month. I have a few updates.

1. Guestbook: I had decided to do a guestbook for the wedding using some of our engagement pictures. I have used shutterfly for photobooks in the past, so this was my plan. I made it a few weeks ago when I thought I had a 40% off coupon that would work, but when the coupon didn't work, I blew it off. Finally another coupon came out (this one was 50%) so I got the guestbook as well as some Thank you notes I can send for the shower presents and some cool refrigerator magnets all for less than the original book was costing. Here's a couple of pictures of the book:

2. Bridesmaid dresses have been ordered. My MOH chose her dress back in June, so I'd made an appointment for July 12 for my Bridesmaid and JR. Bridesmaid to choose their dresses. Found out the night before that my Jr. Bridesmaid was actually out of town with her dad (she's 11) and wouldn't be at the appointment, so we made her decision for her :confused3 hopefully she'll like it. Basically, my concept was to choose the basic length and fabric (crinkle chiffon) but let them each choose which dress they wanted and in which color. My color choices were Oasis, Pool and Spa (David's Bridal) Here are what the three dresses will look like (pics are in the colors each girl will wear)

Found a coupon online for $20 off that my MOH and Bridesmaid used; they gave my mom $15 off on the Jr. Bridesmaid dress (my mom bought my niece's dress). At first, the store was saying they couldn't use the coupon since I didn't buy my dress from them, but the coupon didn't say it had anything to do with the bride...just save $20 on any regular priced bridesmaid dress. So we argued and they gave the discount thank goodness.

3. Surprise Shower!!! My MOH (the fabulous and awesome Tracy) and my cousin Amy threw the most amazing surprise wedding shower for DF and I at my mom's in Michigan over the fourth of July weekend. DF was in on it, so it was only a surprise for me. But I was SHOCKED. It was so sweet. Here's a few pictures:

I was so shocked...some of the family had come up to spend the weekend, so they capitalized on that and got my bridesmaid Cindy and her husband to drive up for the day...on a holiday weekend!!! I was so touched that they gave up a day on a holiday weekend to be there for us! And my whole family...normally they would have spent the day on the beach or going shopping in town...they all stayed home for our shower...it was really sweet!

4. We have ordered a veil. When I bought my dress, I'd tried on some veils with it that were really gorgeous but oh-so-pricey. I refused to spent half of what my dress cost on a veil! So I'd been shopping for a while and I had found a veil I fell in love with at house of brides but it was still too pricey. I loved it though...it had embroidered flowers along the edges with a little beading and sequins. Then there was some places throughout the veil where it sparkled...it was truly gorgeous...but it was still about $100 more than I wanted to spend. So I kept looking online trying to find something similar. Finally my mom found a place that had some options that look similar but didn't have as much sparkle, so she reached out to see how much it would cost to add some sparkle. It wasn't too bad, so we decided to go ahead and order. I don't think it will be as pretty as the one I loved at HOB, but it's good price and hopefully will be pretty and sparkly and will do the trick. Here's a picture of the basic veil:

5. My dress came in!! Exciting but traumatic, of course, because I haven't taken any weight off since I bought it. Bangs head against wall. I am so aggravated with myself! Fortunately, I have enough time as long as I eat clean and workout and get serious...which I have been doing since I tried the dress on...I just have to stick with it. But I'm annoyed that I won't look as good as I'd planned since at the most I'll probably be losing about half what I'd planned. But the dress WILL fit...it HAS to. So no more time to go easy on myself...playtime is OVER. I'm not posting pics of the dress as I don't want my guests or fiance to stumble upon this by accident. I am very happy with the color...I'd tried on a sample in white but ordered ivory...the ivory is really pretty and looks nice with my skin tone. I was disappointed that the dress was so wrinkled and crumpled...I guess they basically pulled it out of the box and gave it to me to try on. She recommended I do fittings 4-5 weeks before the wedding so I have the max time to get into shape for the dress...and it has a corset back so that gives me a little shrink room if I keep losing...So I have the dress in my closet until the first fitting. I confess I have unzipped the bag a few times to look at its gorgeousness (LOVE the beading) but I won't try it on again until I'm down at least 20 lbs as I suspect it will crush me. I do have some pictures for motivation though...rude awakening that was for sure. But I guess maybe I needed a kick in the a**. Well...got one...

6. Made an appointment to pick out and/or design our wedding bands. We are going to go see the jeweler that DF worked with to design my engagement ring because I want my wedding band to have a similar look and feel and to go with my ring. So we thought we'd start there and see what options they might have for DF's ring too. They did such a phenomenal job on my ring, I really love their work....so we're going next Saturday to meet with them and see if we can figure something out. Very excited about that...

7. My BLT waitlist for a studio for DF for the night before the wedding came through, so that is one less worry. This way, he'll be in the same hotel, just not in the same room. I think logistically that will make things much easier. We are going to do a first look somewhere around BLT or the Contemporary...

8. DF has (mostly) decided on tuxes...he likes the Vera Wang black ones at Men's Wearhouse and he wants to do a vest in the Oasis color we're using in the wedding with an Oasis tie. He wants to look super sharp, it's really cute. We don't need to order for awhile yet, but I think I'd like to nail it down in August some time, just to get it off the list...

Seems like there's been more going on, but I think that's it for right now. Have a great day everyone!!!

Brooke

Thanks Ladies! We've been together a long time and lived together for a lot of that, so we did a honeymoon registry (Traveler's Joy) instead of a traditional registry. Some of the shower guests did things off that and some did Disney gift cards which will be AWESOME on the trip...Honestly though, the effort the planning team did and everyone giving up a Saturday on a holiday weekend was just the most amazing gift...

I'm so pleased with the guest book. I want to make a little sign to put on the table with the guest book asking people to sign it and write advice to the couple...hopefully people will!

So, I'm new here, and I'm super excited to see more stuff from your wedding because I'm also planning to be a November Bride :)

What a great idea for a guestbook, and so fortuitous that you got it 50% off! Looks like it came out great and I'm always jealous of anyone who has details ready that we haven't even thought about yet! The surprise shower looks like it was wonderful, so much great work and organisation obviously went into everything so nice that everyone came together to do that for you. I guess next time everyone is together like that will be the big day!

Hello everyone: Sorry it's been a while since I've updated. Things have been really hectic at work! We had to downsize and it's had a major impact on my workload and my emotional state, I have to admit. It's been really tough.

Add to that, we lost one of our 2 cats in May to kidney disease and recently, our surviving cat, Anya, got diagnosed with diabetes. So we are now giving her insulin injections twice a day...two weeks into this regimen, she had a hypoglycemic episode (turns out the insulin dose they had us giving her was too high) and we nearly lost her. She was blind for several days and it took about two weeks for her to completely recover. She's doing really well now, though, so hopefully we are through the worst of it... Needless to say, that whole adventure didn't do a lot for wedding inspiration...and the associated costs put a ding in the wedding budget...

But things have been moving along. We've gotten most of our RSVPs back at this point...the wedding has gotten smaller and smaller...I originally thought we'd be at around 40 people...now it looks like we'll be closer to 20-23. Hardly any of Frank's family are coming...I'm really disappointed and upset by it on his behalf, but he's not too surprised I guess. Hoping to finalize the guest list in the next couple of weeks...need to get the programs and escort cards finalized.

And of course the budget will change a little if few people are coming...

We chose the tuxedos and DF ordered his...It's a gray Vera Wang from Men's Wearhouse. I really like it because it has more of a slim fit than most tuxes you see...it looks really great on Frank. He's going to wear the gray vest that goes with the tux and a light gray shirt and a teal tie. The other men will be in white shirts with colored vests and ties that coordinate with the bridesmaid dresses. So that was a big hurdle. I have to figure out the returning of the tux in Florida thing (we're picking them up at home so we can make sure everyone's tuxes fit before we go to Florida...with several people coming in on Friday, I was worried there wouldn't be time to solve tux issues in Florida before the wedding on Sunday) and I have to figure out the "DF needs to keep his a couple of extra days for the Hollywood Studios photo shoot we have scheduled (and the possible MK shoot we'll hopefully be able to schedule at 45 days out) challenge".

I've chosen the bridal party girl gifts, but haven't ordered them yet as I am waiting to see if my MOH is making the trip to Florida for the wedding or not. Long story but her financial situation has changed and she may not be coming. Fingers crossed that it all works out, but for now I'm in a holding pattern. Not sure when I'll pull the trigger and get things ordered...

We haven't figured out the bridal party gifts for the men yet, although we've got a few ideas we like...hopefully we can pin that down soon.

I've designed the menus we want to put at each place and the table number signs...I'm still playing with them, but they're mostly there I think.

Need to make signs for the ribbon wands, the guest book, the "unplugged" ceremony...Planning to do something similar to the look and feel of the menus I think...

Decided to order a "natural touch" fake bouquet and boutinere for the Hollywood Studios photo shoot (and the hopeful Magic Kingdom photo shoot) rather than pay for the "refresh" that Disney suggests. The cost is about the same and if we do the second shoot, we're saving the cost of the second "refresh"...plus I'll have them as a souvenir. And if we have to come back later in the year for the MK photo shoot, we'll have the flowers.

Also ordered buttons for our guests to wear during the trip. They will be really cute I think...I'll post a pic when they come in.

Have ordered a few tshirts for DF and I to wear on the trip...Poor DF. He will be dressing like a dork for several days because the way I look at this...I've waited a LONG time to be a bride...and I want to celebrate the fact that it's finally happening every day of that trip!!! So we have Bride and Groom shirts, and just married shirts and Just Hitched Haunted Mansion themed shirts and it's kind of ridiculous but I'm very excited! My favorites so far are for after the wedding...One says "My favorite Disney Princess is my Wife" and the other one says "My favorite Disney Prince is my husband". SO cute. And I love that I will be a Wife and he will finally be my husband. LOVE Etsy. The budget, however, is not very happy with me right now.

Oh, and I ordered some very sparkly fabulous shoes. Can't wait for them to come so I can show you pictures.

I actually have a bunch of pictures I need to get on photobucket and then I will do another update.

Thanks for hanging in there with me...less than 75 days now!!!!

Brooke

Great update Brooke!
I'm so sorry about your cats. My lost my beloved cat in March. It still hurts and I miss him dearly!

I love your shirt ideas! I don't think I can convince my DF to wear those... Though he did agree to a Disneymoon and the Bride/Groom ears! Yay!

I'm sorry about Franks family not attending... On the bright side, less people equals more $$ to spend (or save) on the wedding. It will be beautiful! I can't wait for your wedding to see pictures!!

I feel so horrible that I haven't been in here much for the last five months. So much homework to give PJs the attention they deserve. I've loved your stuff since you put one up--so I had to come back. It's so close! :)

I second the condolences on your kitty. I never considered myself much of a cat person until I got one 8 years ago to console myself after a major loss. My living situation at the time didn't allow for me to have a dog, so I thought a cat was an 'acceptable' substitute. Turns out it was more than acceptable--I am totally a cat person now (as equal to being a dog person). I can't even imagine my life now without my Widget. I am so, so sorry for your loss.

I'm also sorry about the loss on the job front with people who were laid off. Sometimes that stuff happens when it's a small company...but if it's a large company with huge revenues and they are more than breaking even, I find it completely unacceptable to lay people off to "increase profits." You can only Mickey Mouse (hah!) your bottom line so much before it starts to have broad reaching effects. So many other companies are doing that now too. It's like--I'm not an economist...but what happens when so many people don't have jobs anymore to "save the company money" that now no one can afford your products? Yeah..it doesn't make sense. You have to spend money to make money...and employing people at a good, living wage is a part of that when you look at the big scheme of things and how our economic system works. And especially when companies lay people off, it is a HUGE morale destroyer for the people left. :sad2: I hope you're never in any danger of that happening.

With the rest of your wedding planning...I'm glad that, as of this point, it's going well. I will continue to follow the PJ, because you've been so enthusiastically supportive yourself of both me and so many other people here. I can't wait to see more pictures, and to hear how everything goes.

Tiffiny
