We're thinking of taking a Brittany Ferry overnight to Caen. Has anyone had any experience with that? How rough is the journey?
We'd like to rent a car once we get to Caen. Any suggestions on the best way to do that?
Thanks!!

There is no ferry to Caen as it is inland.

So Brittany Ferries sail to Roscoff & then you will have choices

Hire a car at the rail Station
Try rentalcars .com or Sixt .com

Fuel full to Full ....... Unlimited Km.

............................

Try a ferry co that sails to Cherbourg or St. Malo

As I do not know where you are travelling From .

If you give more info then I will try and give more thoughts

The ferry I've found goes from Portsmouth to Caen/Ouistreham. I'll definitely check out those 2 car companies. Thanks!

You are right they do sail to Caen although it is not exactly Caen where you arrive.
I have done this sailing and all the others that Woodview mentioned several times.

Its impossible to say how rough it will be as it depends on the weather. I have done some journeys where it was extremely rough and others where it was as calm as anything. What time of year are you travelling as that will give an idea.

Sorry I cant help with car hire as we took our own car across from UK
