My husband and I had brunch at California Grill when it was first introduced and again this past Sunday. It was a very special occasion for us. I booked this 6 months ago to celebrate what at the time was our closing date for our house. Turns out we closed in December but I kept this coveted ADR.
So happy I did! Even with the changes to brunch that have occurred it was an exceptional experience! We used the complementary valet and when we asked if we could leave the car after brunch we were told absolutely. We were even able to get our car brought out after brunch to get my husband’s Scooter.
We had one of the latest times (12:50 - they stop at 1:00). We checked in a little before and were immediately escorted up. After check in we were handed a glass of sparkling wine on the way to our table.
our wonderful server Mike was right over and let us know the sparkling was unlimited. I let him know about my allergies. i reviewed the self serve station list in the menu. He told me what was “safe” on the stations and the kitchen made me a few things I was interested in that could be modified and brought them to me. There were a handful of things I could not have (like deviled eggs & pastries) but believe me there was enough that could have or that could be specially made. I was even given my own tongs since the tongs on the charcuterie section were being used for both the meats & cheeses (one of my allergies is dairy)
We never ever felt rushed. We had plenty of time to enjoy the self serve food, the music, atmosphere, & view. My glass was never empty.
for our main course my husband had the blueberry pancake. He said it was delicious. I had steak & eggs. I asked if they could add lobster. Yup! It was amazing.
I asked if we could order more. I was just curious - we had absolutely no room. Yes! Our server said guests often get a third to share.
we asked for our deserts to be boxed. Way too full. We were given a box of cookies & brownie bites that were safe for me. Really enjoyed them that evening.
