Thinking of trying a cruise in the next month or som
Is rc or carnival better with young boys? ( 4 and 5) (or some other cruise... Out of CA)
Pluses and minuses to each line? Ways to get good deals? Any info is appreciated as we have never cruised and would be pulling it off rather quickly lol :)

AFAIK, RCL is only doing two cruises out of California this year (one in September and one in in October), so depending on schedule, they may not even be an option.

Pretty much everyone but Carnival pulled out of the market a few years ago due to all the trouble in Mexico. There may still be Alaska cruises that sail out of San Fran, but those IMO aren't really suitable for small kids.

Disney does have several cruises in October out of San Diego this year if you are interested. Between RCI and Carnival as far as activities for kids RCI is better. The ports that Disney cruises to in Mexico are safe and fun but having visited those ports so many times I typically stay on the ship.
