Calling All Disney Vacation Planners...Host Agency Reviews Wanted

They want you to be knowledgable about all of Disney, including the cruise lines and all of the parks so probably not.

Of course an agency would consider you. It is important to have a wide range of knowledge and the best way to get that is visiting all Disney locations you can, but being a Disneyland expert (as I am) is a good start. You will get Disney College of KNowledge training, and that will help, but if you're serious about giving it a try it's important to build on your knowledge by experincing more. Still, no reason you can start now and add on skills as you go.

I love my agency. We are earmarked and the owner is amazing. Very fair. PM if you would like info.

Please also don't forget that to get many of TA discounts you still need a CLIA card which comes with its own set of requirements.

I have been a Disney Travel Specialist with an Ear Marked Agency for over a year now and I love it. If you find the right agency you will be taken care of.

My agency is small but has some amazing agents. We specialize in Disney Travel but can book any. The owner requires $15,000 in sales to stay active. Each agent has their own commision split but mine is 70% me / 30% agency. And if your sales top $30,000 you get your CLIA card. It is a part time Job for me and I def did not get into if to get discounts. It is not worth it for that. However if done correctly you can make a nice income.

Does anybody think I would have a chance at becoming a home-based Disney agent who specializes in Disneyland? I've never been to WDW or on a Disney cruise. But I've been to DL probably 75 times over the course of my lifetime. I'm very knowledgeable about DL, but not with anything else Disney out of California. I'd be willing to learn, though!

Would host agencies even consider me?

Thanks. :)

Yes, they would. If you get with the right agency, there will be other agents that will be glad to help answer questions about the other locations so that you can learn. You would also get training on all things Disney. Other agents with the agency might not be so knowledgeable about DL and you might be able to help them too.

Good luck!!

I went with an individual agency that is not earmarked. My commission splits aren't nearly as good as the others I see here. This was my second agency, the first being a national agency known for charging it's agents for use of company materials. I am seriously considering my own agency at some point in the near future. I would recommend an earmark agency if you plan to specialize in Disney.

I am interviewing with a smaller, newer agency and the participation fees are $350 annually until you meet a certain sales goal it is waived. I am wondering how standard this is industry-wise. (The fees include insurance, website, business cards, etc.)

Thank You :)

None of the ones I know of have fees like that. If there are fees, it would be a yearly insurance fee ($150 at most) and buy your own supplies like business cards. No website fees or stuff like that though.

The agency I work for pays 80 percent commission and is a Disney earmarked agency... that said, I can also book any type of travel which is a huge bonus. One group trip to Cancun netted me enough money for a week at a suite at ASM.. not to mention the travel benefits Disney offers to travel agents.
Could you please PM me more information about your host agency?

Could someone please send me a pm about the Earmarked host that pays 80%? I'm finally getting 60% after nine years as a TA...

I would actually rather this than an agent who had only been to a park a few times!

*crawls out of the woodwork and punts the topic up* Sorry guys.

I am also starting the process. I've read the threads and all the pros/cons/don't do it for discounts and after a few years of thinking about it...I'm going for it. I really enjoy CS/sales work when I believe in the product, I can dedicate the time to take it seriously, and I take pride in my work. I think I'd be really good at it.

Would any agents be willing to share some experiances regarding their time working with an agency? Why do you work for that one in particular? I give blanket permission to be PMed or I can PM you with yours.

I have applied to a few agencies and even have an interview coming up soon at one of my first choices. While I wait for more responses, I'd love to learn as much as I possibly can in addition to the knowledge contained in my small pile of reading material. It has been some time since this topic was last updated so I'm hesitant to just come out of the blue and PM people who have already posted.

I am also in the process of researching host agencies. There are so many that specialize in Disney! So far I am looking at some of the same ones mentioned up thread ^ but would also love to know which one is paying the 80% commission. Please, PM me if you know, or if you have any feedback on any other specific agencies.

Hi! I am also doing my fair share of research on how to become a TA with an earmarked agency. As a military spouse moving from station to station, I would love to have a career that I can keep and grow. Feel free to message me with any info you may have! :earsgirl:

Is there a difference from an "EARMARKED" and an "AUTHORIZED DISNEY PLANNER". Please PM me as I have been offered a position with a company and want to make sure I am making a good decision. Ive been to Disney World and Disney Cruises (not the land yet...soon, lol) I dont mind paying, but I want to make sure its with a reputable company. Thanks in Advance

I'm a Disney TA ( work at home) I get 70% off commission & 90% for personal travel..

Also with the CLIA or IATA card their are lots off opportunities to save or even Disney will put out specials for travel professionals..

ASMU/POR Dec 16-22, 2012 & CR Sept 8-15, 2013
Can you pm me with the name of this agency? Thank you!
