I have been a member of the disboards but I haven't posted any threads before. Can you give me some advice as to the easiest way to do this?

Easiest way to post? Well, just like you've done. You now know how to start a thread.

To respond to someone else's post, you can click on the "+ Quote" link in the lower right of their post.

At the top and bottom of each page (in the gray bar) on the right is a little arrow (pointing up/right). Click on that and you'll see all the various forums and what each deals with. Whatever area interests you, click on that link and it will take you to that forum.
