Dancing, Coffee & Cocktails - A Birthday trip to remember TR!

Just to keep you all in the loop, another update is planned very soon, but our internet keeps dropping its connection making it extremely difficult to put everything together. Please don't give up on me! :)

Just read this! Great TR, am so looking forward to the next installment! Great pics too, especially the one of you and Eeyore! :yay:

Also wishing you a belated Happy Birthday :flower3:

Hope Arthur is doing well too :goodvibes

Great updates, love your hats - seem good for getting the characters attention :)

The DLH is lovely, but I agree with you about the bedding - doesn't have the same sumptuous feeling does it?

How lucky to have your birthday there - great stuff :thumbsup2

Look forward to more :goodvibes

It's lovely to read your TR knowing you were there at the same time as us! We didn't get to the descent of the stairs- everyone was too tired and wanted to unpack! I was gutted! I looked for your hats all week x

Hello again everyone!

I'm hoping my internet holds out long enough for me to write about day number 4!

We were both awake by 7.30am, but didn't budge for a while, we regretted this when we got down to breakfast to find a big queue! We were in Inventions again today & I opted for the croissants, pain au chocolat and donuts. Yummy yummy. Unfortunately today was a slow day on the coffee front and we watched in disbelief as a horrible lady guest got very antisocial with the waiting staff and ever threw her knife on the table to make a loud noise to gain the staffs attention. This in my mind is just totally unacceptable behavior!

Looks like my internet is giving up again so I'll fill you all in about the day as soon as they fix it (supposed to be by 5pm on Wednesday!) I want to tell you all about today! pixiedust:

Ooo you tease! lol Looking forward to more.

I agree, there's no need for that behavior! Simply ask!

C x

Happy belated birthday! Loving your TR so far... fab photos! And I am giggling about the (lift) shaft too! :lmao:

Some people are just exceptionally rude - I would have chucked her out of breakfast for that behaviour!

Hello everyone!

I'm please to say I finally have a decent internet connection again, so will be cracking on with my TR again over the next few days!

Thanks for hanging in there!

Hooray, hoorah! I'm finally back to finish my TR! I'm so sorry for the delay, with the internet being down and the arrival of my new pony, Mickey (more on him later), I just haven't managed to sit down long enough to get this typed up!

So carrying on from the rude lady at breakfast (post further up the page!)

We ended up heading to the main park just in time for public opening, knowing it would be heaving soon, we took the opportunity to mooch through the shops looking for gift ideas. We had hoped to get a cheeky ride on Dumbo (nothing like being a big kid!) but it was already rather busy and I wouldn't want to deprive a small child of the chance to ride on the famous elephant!
We wandered over to Frontierland to try our luck on BTMRR, but this was showing 45 minutes and the fast pass lane looked crazily long too. This morning was not looking good for getting on rides!
As a last resort we ended up on It's a Small World. This ride does drive me slightly insane, but mum had managed to avoid going on it since 1996! We were on a boat with a Bristol couple and their kids and the farther was traumatised by the ride! Mum has already decided it will be another 18 years before she rides it again! :rotfl:

With IASW still ringing in our ears, we went to get lost in the Alice's Curious Labyrinth.
1613972_10153967179360581_775397907_n.jpg

We ducked through little doors
10152436_10153967179120581_2032013100_n.jpg

Met the Cheshire cat
1455124_10153967179315581_519434734_n.jpg

Got a great view of the Castle (apart from some rude children who's mother thought it was acceptable to let them shove us out of the way to look at the view!)
10009905_10153967180560581_807136105_n.jpg

and attended my very own unbirthday party!

Having successfully giggled our way around the Labyrinth we began to wander aimlessly again, we really weren't finding it easy to find things to ride today! We stumbled upon Pirates with only a 5 minute wait and took the opportunity to jump aboard a pirate ship! I love how the drop in this ride catches so many unaware!
As we left the high seas we caught the enticing aroma of Fish and Chips at Toad Hall! Mum had wanted to eat here when she went last year with dad, but he wasn't keen, so it would have been rude to just walk by. Neither of us were particularly hungry having eaten plenty at breakfast, but neither of us could resist the draw of proper fish and chips!
We joined the queue and ordered our food, we decided not to order drinks as we had cartons in my bag, so really wasn't needed. We found a lovely little table in the restaurant and sat down. As we sat down a chappie came up to us and put 2 drinks down on our table, we thought maybe he had been saving the table for his family and we'd snuck in, but he offered us the 2 large drinks as he and his family were leaving and didn't need them! How lucky were we!?

The park was still rather busy, so we decided to go shopping instead! I bought a tin of biscuits for my colleagues (I only wanted the Mickey Mousr tin!) and I bought mum a Mickey Fantasia Snow Globe that she'd been looking at. Mum bought a Mickey and Minnie Bride and Groom Cushion for our neighbours who were getting married (it's been so long since I updated this that they're now married!)
With shopping in the park completed, we headed to the village to get the clothes I'd decided on. I opted for a Minnie Mouse long top/dress, a Tinkerbell Pixie Dust t-shirt and a Cinderella 'Waiting for Prince Charming' jumper, along with a purple Minnie Mouse coin purse (like the ones they sell on Disney Store online). I had really, really wanted to treat myself to a Dooney and Bourke handbag, but just couldn't justify the cost this time, one day!

All shopped out we took our shopping back to our room, the room hadn't yet been , but they were just up the corridor, so we decided to head straight back out again!

We were feeling a little deflated having only managed 3 rides this morning, so decided to try the Studio Park for a few hours. I'm certainly glad we made this decision!
First up was TOT, then RNR x 2, before going backwards and forwards on Andy's RC car! By the time we got off of the RC car it was 17.55, knowing the park closed at 18.00 we began to walk towards the exit passing by TOT. We noticed there was still a visible queue and the cast member was on the phone, so we cheekily tagged on the end of the queue! This was the best idea of the day (other than coming into the park in the first place!). We ended up on the very last elevator of the day and virtually all of the cast members were around. One of the CM's said he remembered us (I totally blame our hats!) We were in the front row in the lift and a lovely CM named Mathilde decided to tie the toggles of my hat together above my lip and told me to put my finger on the knot. Mum was laughing at me, so Mathilde did the same to her hat. At this point she told us we had to stay like this for the whole ride, mum and I glanced at each other and you could see that the challenge was accepted!
We didn't move our fingers for the whole ride and when the elevator doors open we were greeted with applause and Bravo's from all the CM's, it turns out they'd been watching us on the monitors to see if we did it! :rotfl2:

It was now well past park closing, so we headed straight out (not that we had any choice!) and back to the main park to see if we could get our BTMRR fix. The queue timer was reading 15 minutes, but it looked a fair bit longer, so we used our hotel fast pass to get on a bit quicker. Once again we were recognised by a CM as we were heading out of the station on a train. When we had ridden and were heading out of the station the same CM called after us saying 'Bye Pluto, Bye Eeyore' :lovestruc

We were both a little tired and weren't staying to watch Dreams! tonight, so we wandered back up Main Street, stopping off to buy some amazing fudge on the way. We popped into the Hotel shop to buy a pen for using at work (winding up my colleague who says he'd rather stick pins in his eyes than go to Disneyland) before going back to our room and getting straight into our PJ's. The room hadn't been turned down, so we didn't get any choc coins, but we made hot choc and sat under the covers for a while. I don't think either of us could believe that tomorrow was going to be our last day! :sad2:

Day 5 - Thursday 27th March

We both woke up about 7.10am and couldn't believe today was our last day in the Magic. We spent 10 minutes or so led in bed checking Facebook and e-mails before getting ready for breakfast, we were trying to avoid the queue that we'd been caught in yesterday! Thankfully it worked and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. We were in Inventions again which was fab.
As it was the last day I thought I'd start it well with a nice cooked selection, this certainly filled me up ready for the day ahead! This little lot ended up in the roll, I forgot the cheese though!
10150799_10153967356635581_308448555_n.jpg

We popped back to our room to pack up the last few things and work out the puzzle of how to get what was left of my Birthday cake back home without it ending up as a chocolatey mess!
I virtually had to sit on my case to get the zip done up! I didn't think I bought that much stuff!
We popped our bags down stairs to leave them for the day, we contemplated having them sent to the station, but decided it was no problem to collect them later on.

We couldn't not go to the main park on our last day, so we snuck in while it was still EMH. We looked again at getting on Dumbo, but the queue was already long, the teacups however had a far smaller queue, so this is where we headed, Eeyore included!

We span the cup as fast as we could and watched the park fly by as a blur! We could barely walk a straight line when we got off! We really are the biggest kids ever!

Another daily tradition was BTMRR, but today was the first time I'd gone to the rope drop for Frontierland. I noticed how they wait until exactly 10am to drop the rope and it's not dropped until after the official park opening.
10154958_10153968505355581_71070598_n.jpg

After the rope drop we followed the masses, only to find BTMRR closed due to technical problems. Totally gutted! We were given the option to queue outside or come back later, we opted to wait for 15 mins to see if they got it going, I'm glad we did as about 10 minutes later the CM's got the nod and we were allowed on! YAY! We'd been queuing with a lovely Brit and she walked with us onto the ride. We followed the handy hint of going left (got plenty of looks for that one!) and ended up on the first train of the day!

We decided that we needed some galactic fun and headed to Star Tours, we do love this ride, but wish there was an English version (or that I spoke better French!) As we left the arcade I caught a glimpse of a Goofy Hat and being nosey I wandered over and tucked behind Videopolis was Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Minnie & Stitch! How could we resist going to get some photos when there was virtually no one around!?!
Mum met Pluto (again)

People had began to realise the characters were there and it became a little crowded so we went to sit on a nearby wall with a drink and watch the expressions of the young children, I just love it. I really hope one day to have kids of my own to share this magic with.
While watching though, one character was looking a little sad and lonely and no one seemed to want to have their photo taken with them, so I jumped up and went to cheer them up...

Having cheered Stitch up we decided to wave a final goodbye to the main park and go and get our Studio Park fix.
Our first stop was to use our hotel fast pass on TOT and Mathilde was working again today and spotted up in the queue. When we got closer to the lifts she ran off to get another CM and proceeded to tell her all about the antics from the previous evening!
Our lift was extra special today as it was played fully in English! I have been on this round countless times and have NEVER heard it in English, absolutely fantastic!
We came straight of TOT and headed to get a fast pass to go on again, while we were hunting out our tickets though we were approached by a gentleman who asked us in broken English if we were 2 people & when we replied yes, he handed us 2 fastpasses for now! WINNER! We of course thanked him a lot and got straight back in the queue!
When we got off this time, we got our own fast passes for between 14.45-15.15 and headed off to ride RNR. This is another favourite ride of mine and really needs to music in the carriages to make it, thankfully they were working this time!
We decided to watch Stars and Cars for the 2nd time this trip before checking the wait time for RC car. Unfortunately it was showing 25 minutes (we suspected more though!) and we knew if we joined the queue we would be likely to miss of fast pass slot for TOT. Instead we opted to get our selves a hot choc and sit and watch TOT while enjoying the sun shine.
14.45 came and we joined the queue for the 3rd time today and the very last time of our trip. We saw Mathilde again and said our good byes, I hope I get the opportunity to meet her again!

With not enough time left to go on any more rides we mooched through the shop in Studio 1 before leaving the park.
1002650_10153968505360581_1494212061_n.jpg

We nipped into World of Disney and bought a Minnie Mouse pen for my friend before heading back to the hotel to collect our bags. We decided to go and use the facilities before going to the station (might as well use the luxury ones!) and ended up in the gift shop as well! I purchased 1 last item, an elastic Mickey Mouse bracelet that I'd eyed up earlier in the week.
We caught the end of The Decent of the Stairs when we left the shop and watched it from the 2nd floor. Mum and I got a little excited when we saw Genie, we'd never seen the Genie!

With our bags collected, we sorrily dragged them to the station. We could check in straight away which was lovely, but we were subject to a bag security check with the sniffer dog. Is this standard in France? With this being our first Eurostar experience, we weren't sure if this was the norm!
With the security check clear we moved towards the platforms, but weren't allowed to board yet, I wish there was a nice seating area like at St Pancras though!
Once boarded I spent the time before we departed writing up today's antics (in the princess note book that I got from my Secret Santa on here!)
10007504_10153967357605581_867252458_n.jpg

Our food was served not long after departure, I chose the cheeses and mum had a beef meal.
10151899_10153967357595581_134483971_n.jpg

The pudding was absolutely scrummy as was the coffee! So much so that the lovely lady serving us bagged us up some of the sachets so that we could take them home with us! I will definitely be traveling by Eurostar again! Fantastic service!

Upon reaching St Pancras we queued for a short time at passport control, but while waiting the young girl that we took on TOT earlier in the week and her brother appeared! It was nice to say a final good bye to them and check that they had a great holiday. It's little things like this that make a trip to DLRP so magical and memorable!
As we were walking through the station after passport control, my phone rang and it was our driver home, he was already parked up outside waiting for us, so we headed out, loaded the car and began our journey home. We got home at around 11.30pm and were greeted by 3 totally crazy dogs who had obviously missed us a lot!

So technically my last post was the end of my TR, but I couldn't help but let you all know what happened in the days after I got home. :goodvibes

Some of you will be aware of my Haflinger horse Arthur
1484705_10153735370095581_348196592_n.jpg

Who has been unwell for 7 months now while the vets try and find out what's wrong with him. He was in the vets for the week leading up to us going away and we were unsure when/if I'd be able to ride him again. With this in mind we started looking for a temporary pony for me to compete on and ride.

So we spent the Friday after we got home unpacking and catching up and then the Saturday we drove the 3 hours to go and pick up the new member of the family - Mickey. I really do now have my own Mickey!
1969379_10153971847635581_393265997_n.jpg

Me being me, I couldn't wait to get back in the saddle! I'd spent 7 months playing groom to my mum and I wanted to have some fun, so we headed off to a little show on Sunday and even won some rosettes!

10157352_10154023739870581_7246979678023716597_n.jpg

About a week later we got the call from the vet about Arthur, they have a new diagnosis of a muscle disease, so he's now on a special diet and is to be walked out every day. So I've gone from no riding to needing to ride two. This is where all my time has gone and why it has taken me so long to finish my report. I hope my lovely photos of my trip and the ponies make up for it though! Sorry!

Mum and I did a dressage competition on Good Friday and we did a pairs test to music (Teddy Bears Picnic)

If anyone would like to see the videos of our tests please let me know and I'll post the links :)

I've really fallen for Mickey, even though he's supposed to only be a temporary measure, but looking at how Arthur isn't improving, I think he'll be here for a little while yet! :yay:

Me me me I'd like to see the videos !!
You and Mickey look great dress as Mickey and Minnie :thumbsup2
It looks life great fun :goodvibes

Shall you and mum be returning to disney soon ?
X

Wow! Fabulous TR! And Mickey and Arthur are gorgeous chaps too.
How could no one want Stitch-hugs!? I'm baffled! He's my favourite!
You got loads done on your last day. Good on ya! Have you got another trip planned or on the horizon?
Really enjoyed your TR & PTR. Thanks for sharing.

Ooooo LOVE Mickey - he's so handsome! And love you two dressed at teddy bears, Wally and Minnie!

C x

I really would love to return very, very soon! If I had my way I would go again later this year, but with 2 ponies to look after, that's looking rather unlikely. :sad2:
However I have a few ideas up my sleeve, I would either like to go in October next year (exactly 20 years since my very first visit) or for the Christmas season (I loved the start of the xmas season in 2006, so would love to see it again). Following that my 30th Birthday in 2016! pixiedust: I was contemplating the annual passport route for these 2 trips, I guess I've got plenty of time to sort that out though :goodvibes

Mum is lucky though as she's going back this year on the 16th December with my dad. My dad love Christmas so mum booked him the holiday to see all the festivities in Disney! Lucky mum!
