DD8's eye exam: Not what I wanted to hear.

I have posted on here about dd8 quite a few times, actually.

Well, one of her "issues" is a large blind spot in her Left eye. We have increasingly, over the past year, noticed when she looks at things farther away, her eyes are not focusing together. We weren't sure if it was that left eye or her right eye turning outward. Well, the specialist is a bit concerned now. It is her right eye. He said her close-up vision is fine, both eyes focusing together...but when she looks farther away, just her left eye (with the large blind spot) is focusing, while the right drifts outward.

I am so, so, sooooo sad for her right now. I just always get this sinking in my gut, that although she has so many different issues with different body systems, none are severe -- but I can't get over thinking that it's going to not always be this way. So many of her things are on the edge...

The cyst in her brain is the outside limit of what they can leave in there, her left kidney's hydronephrosis is the outside edge of what they can leave alone, her vision..................

Sorry for the rambling. I know, there are many people out there facing things that are way worse. I just am feeling this intensely, right now.

Beth,

I am not familiar with you're DD's history, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry this is worrying you and as a mom myself, I can imagine how frightened you are for her. I hope everything will be alright for you both.

big hugs for you!

I know how hard it is to go through things, but I think that watching and not being able to make things better is even worse. i'm afraid i dont have much advice but i can say that as long as she knows you love her, then she's already a step ahead!

I can't offer any advice, but I can offer sympathy, hugs  and good vibes:goodvibes. Good luck, and I hope things work out for you and your family.

While I have no advice to offer, either, I wanted to give you a hug . I know how you feel. I watched my little sister's health, cognitive abilities and vision decline, especailly over the last 5 years of her life. I know it can be so difficult, but keep a positive attiude. Is your DD really upset? If not, be happy, she is. It's all about attitude. If she is really upset, then try to get to look on the bright side. She's still got so much in her life, including an awesome mom who cares about her so much.

My little sister, while incredibly couragious about her illness most of the time, was really upset when she was no longer aloud to drink liquids (she had a g-tube), but she realized that she could still enjoy all of her favorite foods, and our mother could never make her drink icky orange juice anymore.

I hope your daughter's other conditions improve, if possible, and they find treatments for her vision problems. Until then, stay strong, and more hugs ,

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with another thing right now. Life seems to pile up at times (I'm dealing with multiple issues now, myself). I have to keep reminding myself to take it "one breath at a time".

I hope the doctors will find a relatively easy way to deal with these new issues.

I'm so sorry for you. It's like you use up all your energy trying to be accepting and positive about what is already there. Then, something new comes out of nowhere. It's very stressful and hard to accept something else on top of existing diagnoses. I know you'll come to grips with this, but it's just hard to get there.:grouphug:

Beth,
Just wanted to let you know I understand where you're coming from with your DD's issues . With my boys I feel that we get one problem under control and another one crops up. Very frustrating and tiring. :grouphug:
