December 1st, 2017 - 5-Night Eastern Caribbean Repo Cruise from San Juan to Miami

What is the "distant" foreign port in this equation: Tortola or San Juan? And what hotel did you reserve? I wanted to book the Sheraton Old San Juan but it is unavailable on November 30.

I believe it's Tortola.

We were staying at the Embassy Suites San Juan Casino and Hotel (something along those lines). We're now booked at the Double Tree San Juan.

I would like to participate in the fish extender group and I have not done this before. Can someone please let me know what I need to do to participate?

Welcome to the cruise and welcome to the thread! To join the FE list, all you have to do is send me a PM (once you have 10 posts) with the following info: stateroom number, names of travelers, ages & gender for the kiddos (you don't have to give their names if you don't want to), and let us know if there are any allergies. You can also let us know any favorite characters.

Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have!

Where do you purchase decorations for the stateroom doors? Or do you make them yourself?

What would be our part in the Fe? Do we buy items for other people for the 5 days?

It is entirely up to you regarding how often you give gifts, and if you give gifts per family or individual. Some people give a small/inexpensive gift each day, and others just give one or two gifts total. Some people give one gift per person and some people just give one gift per stateroom.

I usually reuse magnets for our door from previous cruises if they're not cruise specific. In the past, I've ordered some magnets from etsy. I've also gone to the dollar store and purchased decorations to hang up. Note: you can only use magnets to affix things to your door.

It's for everyone! We used to participate in the FE before our daughter arrived.
Did you make your own FE or buy it in etsy? We have 3 rooms and I wasn't sure if we should have just one for everyone on one door?

We are going to fly in a day early but I wasn't sure about the hotel situation. I haven't seen anything regarding change of ports, has anyone else?

I've called Disney twice - still no change to our cruise - I with you I have my flights booked but unsure about the hotel - was booked to stay at the Ritz Carlton - but now they aren't reopening until early 2018

I purchased mine from esty. We used Gradysmommy and she did fabulous work. We actually bought our FE a few years ago on ebay from her, and we just purchased a new pocket that could be added on when our daughter was born. She even tried to match the fabric of our old one. I've seen some people do something as simple as a reusable tote bag for the FE.

Haven't heard any updates regarding the ports. SJ should be good to go. A royal carib. ship left last weekend and carnival is supposed to be living this week or next week. Hotel wise, I know a few of the Hilton hotels are closed. We were originally staying at the Embassy Suites, but it's not opening until mid December. We have a reservation at the Double Tree and one at a Marriott hotel (not sure which one as my husband booked it). Both can be cancelled 48 hours or so before the reservation date. I imagine we will not be going to Tortola. Perhaps we'll have another day at sea.

Hi all, Haven't been on this page yet, but I am planning on sailing with you all from San Juan. It will be myself and a friend since DH can't get away. I have been watching the airport/cruise port/hotel situation closely. Booked a hotel (b/c) that can be changed/cancelled if need be, but haven't yet booked air. Worried that the airline will change/cancel flights.... (just happened to a friend, not flying to PR, but the airline changed aircraft and couldn't accommodate all so he had to go a day earlier or later). I have heard that JetBlue can cancelling PM flights b/c of lack of lighting at the airport....my info may not be accurate...
Another comment: looks like it will be a relatively empty sailing... Most cruises go out completely full (rooms full, even if occupancy is not max---i.e. 2 in a room vs 4 in a room) but from looking at what is available, stateroom wise, there are over 150 staterooms open including concierge and a 1 BR suite. I know some will be occupied by the folks with guarantee status---they are not yet assigned, but it still seems that there are a lot of staterooms open on this sailing... all the better for those on board. Venues might not be as crowded... Also some opportunities for upgrades at the port for those who are interested.

Welcome to the cruise thread! Glad you're joining us for the cruise. It's been very quiet here on the disboards, and I've noticed lots of available rooms as well. We have airfare and hotel room booked, but we're keeping an eye on the air side of things.

I'm going on the Disney magic cruise out of San Juan Dec 1 2017. How do I sign up for the fish extenders?

Welcome to the cruise! If you're interested in doing the disboards only FE, once you get to 10 posts, you can send me a PM with your info: names, stateroom number, genders and ages of kiddos, any favorite characters we should know about, and any allergies we should know about.
