I'm looking for ways to dress up a plain tee shirt and I'm really not sure about what I'm doing. I don't sew either.

I found this at Michael's yesterday and I was wondering if any of you have seen them? They're called DMC Linea Embellishments. Here's a link if you don't know what I'm talking about: http://www.dmc-usa.com/majic/pageServer/01010000iz/en_US/Linea_Embellishment_Home.html

I can do a backstitch. Do you think this would look nice? I bought a fancy heart design and want to do it on a black tee shirt. What colors would look best.

I'm also looking for other ideas as well. Please, feel free to share! :wave2:

Print and Press works great! you design a T on the computer print it out on special Print and Press paper then iron it onto your shirt! :)

The linea is great. Be sure you read ALL the directions.. .and if you don't at least pre wash your T shirt and dry it. It will shrink..
I will some times also soak my floss in very hot water that I microwave. Just drop the floss in and let it soak for a while. When the water is cool carefully take it out and put it between several paper towels, covering the top also. Blot it carefull and then put it on a clean surface to dry. I do this because I have had several colors bleed dye onto my project after it was done... and because all cotton shrinks! Every time you wash it... Not a bad thing, but if you pre wash the shirt and the floss then it will give a better result. And if you are going to take the time to do this then what is a little more time...?

And as for colors... it is really a matter of what you like! However, take a look at any clothing in a store and look at what colors are being used together this year. If you don't like that, or want to be totally creative, then think of contrast! Black and White.. or use red on black, lime green on pink, or purple! And for some patterns you can use more then one color. I would not use more then 2 or 3 colors....but it can be done, and nicely too!

There are a ton of ways to make a T shirt. Here are 2 sites with ideas and products....

http://darmatrading.com/ I love this site! You can get premade clothing, and dye/transfers and ideas all at once. Very fast service!

http://www.suesparklers.com/
and
http://www.creative-crystal.com/
or
http://www.ejoyce.com/pmain?cmd=e_listmain

These sites have allready made crystal transfers. You can get the iron on crystals at local craft stores,or Walmart also. So read around here and get some ides... think of a MM head all in crystals... it will cost $$ but much less then if you bought it allready made!

And if you are looking for patterns think of all the Dover copy right free designs.. and if it is Disney patterns then get a coloring book and look at that. Do remember that Disney is strict about its property so if you want to sell the stuff you have to get permission. I have used coloring books and even story books for ideas for personal use and not had a problem in over 15 years... and there is a thread here at the DIS that has great designs...
