EPCOT The American Pavillion Handicap elevator and Viewing Area Photos 12/2018

Here are the photos to handicap areas of The American Experience Pavillion. I like to enter early and view all of the wall paintings and read the description. I really like the new American Indian section, too.

I listen to the Amerian Chorus.

Then I look for the Disney cast member head over to the elevator before the guests line up on the opposite side to ride an escalator up to the entrance to the American Pavilion.

The elevator is behind this door on the right side as you enter The American Experience Pavillion. I like this side because to the left is where the American Chorus faces in the center. I don't have a photo of that, but just make a ninety degree turn to your right and roll up to the spaces between the benches.

The elevator door is open and the cast member is helping a guest with his scooter. Most of the time two scooter can fit side by side if the first scooter is experienced at entering to the far right. They will have to back up when they reach the next floor to exit.

I backed up into the elevator with another wheelchair next to me doing the same thing so that I can exit straight out. Most scooters don't do this though.

The other guest and family exit first and I will follow them. You can look around before they let you in the auditorium. The line to the next doorway is to the right.

I let the other guests enter and I took a photo of the cast member asking me to enter through the door and to turn to the left down a ramp to the theater.

After we are in the rest of the guest come up the escalators and wait at the same door to enter.

After I make a left turn I follow another guest down the ramp and turn left to enter the handicap section that also has a few chairs for guests.

I have made my left turn to the designated handicap viewing area at the rear of the theater. Guests are asked to continue all of the way to the other side because it would for scooter/wheelchairs to pass another scooter/wheelchair. You can see a couple of chairs for other guests.

I am looking in the other direction. There are a few spaces left. A couple of guests parked their wheelchairs and sat in the nearest seats.

To exit, you will not return the same way but exit on the other side of the theater down a long ramp with no elevator required.

If you own or rent a large scooter, you don't have to turn you large scooter around. Reach under your seat on the right side for a lever that when pulled up and held allows you to turn your chair so that you are facing the front like everyone else.

Wheelchairs and smaller scooter don't have a problem turning their wheelchair scooter around to face the front to the theater.

I also roll my wheelchair up to the white barrier if I want too since there is no one is behind me and I am not in the way of the person behind me. The Disney cast member told me that this would be okay.

Another excellent "explainer" Ray! Thank you! I'm sure this will be helpful, especially to folks who are new to using mobility devices at Epcot :)
