Every Mile is a Miracle

Also, turn off autopause on the Garmin. Sometimes it autopauses when it shouldn't.
The thing is, I like autopause when I am running and hitting street lights. But today it was super annoying because I barely stopped when I grabbed a drink of water. Dang technology.

Gotcha.
I just manually pause at street lights. But I only hit a few. It probably makes sense to keep autopause if you hit a lot of street lights.

I also hit disengaged the auto pause, but I only hit three streets lights a run so its fine manually pausing. My used to pause at weird places and I hated it.

Week 4 DBP3 Report 6/11 - 6/17
Mon 6/11 - 1 mi @ EA (11:45)
Tue 6/12 - 3 mi @ EB (10:58)
Wed 6/13 - .5 mi @ WU (12:29) + 3 x 1 mi @ HMS (9:14) w/.5 mi RI @ WU + .5 mi @ CD (12:29)
Thurs 6/14 - 3 mi @ EA (11:45)
Fri 6/15 - 1 mi @ EA (11:45)
Sat 6/16 - 4 mi @ EB (10:58) + Strides
Sun 6/17 - 4 mi @ LR (10:35)

I'm not super stoked on the discrepancies between my iPhone and my Vivoactive 3 during my runs. And it's not like one is slower/faster than the other, consistently, so I can't blame one over the other. I just wish they would give me the same output. Ah well. Technology. It's a pain.

Monday: My run streak is going strong. Only 2.5 more weeks and who knows, maybe I'll just keep it going...
Plan - 1 mi @ EA (11:45)
Actual - 1.03 @ 11:20

Tuesday: Forever using Monday and Tuesday as my days to catch up on sleep from the weekends. So I sleep in, and have to squeeze my run in and end up late for work. BLAH.
Plan - 3 mi @ EB (10:58)
Actual - 3.02 @ 10:41

Wednesday: This was the first workout that made me realize how off my watch was. I don't know what to believe. :confused3 What I will say, is that I felt really slow on that last one mile interval.
Plan - .5 mi @ WU (12:29) + 3 x 1 mi @ HMS (9:14) w/.5 mi RI @ WU + .5 mi @ CD (12:29)
Actual -
.5 mi @ 10:54 (iPhone) & 11:11 (Garmin)
1 mi @ 8:52 (iPhone) & 9:04 (Garmin)
.5 @ 11:00 (iPhone) & 11:09 (Garmin)
1 mi @ 8:56 (iPhone) & 9:12 (Garmin)
.5 mi @ 11:11 (iPhone) & 11:14 (Garmin)
1 mi @ 8:56 (iPhone) & 9:13 (Garmin)
.5 mi @ 10:45 (iPhone) & 11:48 (Garmin)

Thursday: Uneventful 3 miles.
Plan - 3 mi @ EA (11:45)
Actual - 3.04 @ 11:20

Friday: Bay wanted to run this mile with me, so she woke up early when she didn't have to, which was super cute. She is always asking me when she can run a 5k/10/20k/100k. I told her to work on her mile and we will talk. Haha. So I take her out and we are run walking just fine. She gets to the 1/2 mile point and falls on literally nothing. I kiss her hands and her knees and she is just UPSET. Doesn't want to run anymore. There is no blood, she is fine, just dramatic. I get her to run just a few more times on the way back, but she wasn't happy about it. Poor girl.
Plan - 1 mi @ EA (11:45)
Actual - 1 mi @ 14:32

Saturday: The run that wasn't meant to be. I was up far too late on Friday and we were leaving really early on Saturday for a Chili Cookoff about an hour and a half away in the mountains. I was fully prepared to knock out my scheduled run when we got there but it just never happened. Finally I decided that time with my family and friends was more important than my run. GASP, I KNOW. It was a tough decision, especially for me. But then I remembered that I couldn't break my streak and we were in a lull of actually doing anything, so I decided that I will just do a mile and call it good. Well we were on a mountain and I thought that going up would be fun. WOOF. It was such an incline in some parts that I was walking most of it, but the views were totally worth it.
Plan - 4 mi @ EB (10:58) + Strides
Actual - 1.25 mi @ 13:48

Sunday: On Saturday I learned that running in a higher elevation is hard and I don't like it. So instead of doing another beautiful run in the mountains, I postponed my run until the evening when we were back home. I headed out around sunset, so it was still pretty. It wasn't too warm and after my run we were going to DQ (talk about motivation). This run felt so good. Again, a great way to end my week.
Plan - 4 mi @ LR (10:35)
Actual - 4.02 @ 10:38

90 days until the Navy Air Force Half Marathon!

Bonus: It was my big dog, Sahara's birthday on Friday. We made pupcakes and sang Happy Birthday to her.

IMG_6071.jpg

OMG pupcakes. I can't.

Also ... I'm super impressed that you understand when time spent with family and friends is more important than sticking to a plan. I'm terrible at that. I try to do it all and just get super burned out. So I'm definitely impressed that you are able to balance running time with people time.

Technology is on my nerves once again today.
1) I forgot to push my workout to my watch, so it was off on my intervals, which sucked.
2) I forgot to set up my workout on Runkeeper, but was able to put it in quickly before I started my run.
3) Wish I would have noticed my intervals were wrong on my watch at the same time, could have fixed it.
4) I feel like I don't know what to believe anymore when it comes to distance and pacing.
5) My watch and my phone are giving me two different outputs and it's SO ANNOYING.

ANYWAY. Track workout this morning. Since my intervals were set wrong on my watch, I went with what my iPhone was saying. I used my watch for pacing but even then I don't think it was 100% accurate. On my third interval it said I was going in the 10s when I was clearly not based on effort. So whatever.

According to Runkeeper, I ran a 10k in 59:51.
According to my Garmin, I ran a 10k in 1:00:35.

Either way, I was running probably too fast during my intervals (sorry coach) and by the last one thought I would try to get a sub-hour 10k, unofficial. And either way this is a PR 10k. But for my ego, I am going to trust my Runkeeper app.

My husband got me some new running shoes for our (half) anniversary last weekend. After some mild and unnecessary complaining to @Keels I am happy with them. I have only been running in Brooks Launches for the past 4 years, so I was worried about him getting me the Adrenaline GTS. He said that he saw an ad for these "Rose Gold" shoes and knew he had to get them for me and hoped I would be okay with a different style. I gave them a go this morning on my run streak one miler (day 26!) and they are a little different than my Launches, I think they are the perfect addition to my running. Plus, shoes are shoes, right Keels? ;)

Introducing: Rosé All Day
The perfect pairing for running and summer.

If I didn't just buy a new pair of Nikes, I would be ALL OVER THESE.

Good job, husband!

We are in the same boat. I haven't updated since before I went to Disney but have been running. LOL. Great job with your run streak!

June Totals
Miles Ran - 105.4
Total Time - 18:54:35
Average Pace - 10:45/mi

June Goals Re-Cap
- Train smart. Run early, stay hydrated. CHECK.
- Keep Cross-Training. Swim, Bike, Strength. NOPE. I haven't even broke in my new Vivo 3 in the pool yet. :(
- Decide on an August training race. (Either a HM or Tri... or both) Probably neither. Life happened. And I'm okay with it.
- Get house unpacked, like seriously what am I doing with my life?! Ehhhhh. I can live out of boxes for a few more months. BUT we did get the TV put on a stand instead of leaning our console table on the floor.
- Read 2 books. I finished reading A Wrinkle In Time and The Wife Between Us. I started reading Eleanor Oliphant.
- Limit screen time. MAN I AM BAD AT THIS.

This year feels like a time warp. I don't even understand how it is July already. But since we are a week in, I guess I'll make some goals.

July Goals
- SIGN UP FOR DOPEYYYYYYY!!!!!
- Do not get burnt out or discouraged, with running or life in general.
- Bring back my morning stretch routine.
- Plan Disneyland/Universal weekend for August.
- Read 2 books.
- Finishing editing wedding from June.

One thing I didn't state on my goals list was my run streak. I successfully ran every day from Memorial Day through July 4th! WOO! But now, I am excited to have my rest day back. I miss sleep.

Mini-Summer Vacay in Phoenix, AZ

We have been planning this 4th of July trip to Phoenix since the 2018 Baseball Schedules were released! Usually it starts off as a lot of talk: "OH YEAH WE ARE TOTALLY GOING!!", then it transitions to: "Okay maybe you can go to the whole series and I will meet up with you...", then there is a brief "I don't think we can do this" moment... But then it all came together and we had a mini-summer vacay trip to Phoenix to watch the Cardinals play the Diamondbacks! WOO!

We got into town Sunday and met up with some friends at Top Golf. I have never golfed in my life, so I was shocked by how well I actually did. 10/10 would return.

IMG_6451.jpg

We tried to keep our days as open as possible so we could relax a bit. It worked out for the most part. Monday was pretty chill. We headed out to a local brewery for lunch and then hit up another brewery's tasting room, then checked into our hotel before we headed to the first baseball game of the series. We told ourselves we would get to the ballpark at 5pm every night so Bay could play at the kid's zone, and we actually followed through with that!! Our friend's we hung out with Sunday joined us at the game on Monday. So we get to the stadium and get bombarded by some "Rally-Back" staff who wanted Bay to be a contestant in the hot dog race that day. Heck yes! And then our friend's got asked if they wanted to be in a different contest where they had to guess the names of songs that are playing. They would have asked us but we were wearing Cardinals gear. LOL. It was pretty cool to be able to do these things. Bay was the mustard and unfortunately didn't win. But our friend's won a signed baseball, so that was awesome. Bonus: the Cardinals won!

IMG_6572.JPG

IMG_6579.jpg

IMG_6532.jpg

Tuesday we took Bay to the Phoenix Zoo, even though it was like 110*. We saw a lot of sleeping animals, but there was a splash pad area that she had a lot of fun in. SEE I KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING. Then we went to a pizza place downtown that I have been DYING to go to for YEARS but during the weekends there is usually an hour long wait. So we rolled up on a Tuesday and were sat right away. This place was worth the dang wait and I cannot wait to go back. Then it was back to the ball park for game two. My husband got us all you can eat seats which meant all of the hot dogs, popcorn, chips, and peanuts you could eat. Challenge accepted. I regretfully ate 4 hot dogs and ended up throwing them up in the middle of the night. I never want to eat a hot dog again in my life. Insult to injury: the Cardinals lost.

IMG_6569.JPG

By Wednesday, I was pretty much toast, especially since those 4 hot dogs messed me up. And I don't even want to talk about my running this week. I will save that for my Sunday post. We all slept in and that was fine. But I still wasn't feeling well. We headed out to check out a few places, like the art district and the natural history museum, then we went to a favorite local brewery of ours, AZ Wilderness. After that we found another splash pad and cooled off for a bit, then it was off to game three! For the 4th of July they were doing a fireworks show after the game, so we could get our America on. This time I stayed away from the hot dogs and got some nachos, which are usually my go-to baseball game snack (I will never betray you again sweet nachos!) and they were AMAZING. We had some annoying Diamondbacks fan sitting behind that wanted to heckle my husband like the whole game. But not in a fun way. In a "Are we at a Dodgers game?!" kind of way. He was a terrible person, I am just going to leave it at that. It was a great game and the Cardinals won and the fireworks were awesome and it was a great day!

And then Thursday we came back home so my husband could work his night job. Bay and I hung out with the in laws. All was well. And now here I am on Friday working one day this week because it seemed pointless to take off the easiest and slowest day of the week. Clearly, I am working hard. Haha.

We got into town Sunday and met up with some friends at Top Golf. I have never golfed in my life, so I was shocked by how well I actually did. 10/10 would return.

OHMYGOD TOPGOLF IS MY OBSESSION. When I'm back home in Orlando, my buddy from H.S. and I will play 18-36 holes in the morning and then go STRAIGHT to TopGolf for another 2-3 hours.

They opened one here in FW last year-ish, so I went ahead and got a Platinum membership - that means I can get a bay whenever I want without a wait. It's dangerous. Some weeks, I treat TopGolf like it's my job, and I've just missed out on winning Top Contender twice. I've definitely made my money back on that bad boy.

Week 7 DBP3 Report 7/2 - 7/8
So, I was on vacation in Phoenix during this week and then we went to Vegas for the weekend. This whole vacation threw off my training schedule. I did what I could but not what was scheduled. I can't win them every week. Today I am re-focusing on making sure I stick to my plan and also focusing on my food intake again. I have fallen off the wagon a bit there and want to fix that.

Monday 7/2 - Run Streak Day 36
Almost to the end!
1.26 mi @ 10:34

Tuesday 7/3 - 4 mi @ EB (10:58)
Ran around downtown Phoenix. Didn't quite make it to 4 miles because a bum tried to chase me and freaked me out.
3.76 @ 11:06

Wednesday 7/4 - Run Streak Day 38 (FIN)
This was suppose to be my speed workout, but it just wasn't going to happen. I didn't want to try to find a place to run it and downtown Phoenix was creeping me out. So I moved it to Friday.
1.01 @ 10:12

Thursday 7/5 - 4 mi @ EA (11:45)
Nope. Skipped it.

Friday 7/6 - 1 mi @ WU + 2 mi @ HMS w/.5 mi RI + 1 mi @ HMS + 1 mi @ CD
This workout was MUCH needed. We were back home, I got up early as I do and headed to the track. This run felt amazing.
5.51 @ 10:08

Saturday 7/7 - 6 mi @ EB (10:58)
Monsoon season is starting which means hot AND humid. F this noise. Walked quite a bit of this. Oh well.
5.94 @ 11:40

Sunday 7/8 - 8 mi @ LR (10:35)
Saturday night we had a going away party for a friend which meant we consumed a LOT of beer and stayed up way too late. 8 miles were not in my future, but because I am doing a RunBet right now, it forced me to get out for at least 3 miles. But it was noon and 102* and hot AF. I did my 3 miles and got into my parent's pool with my running clothes on still. Yeah.
3 mi @ 10:42

It is a new week. I am done with my Run Streak, which means I get rest days again! And I still have 10 weeks to go on this training plan until the Navy Air Force Half Marathon! This week is pretty easy and mellow. I am going to take this time to re-focus on all aspects of my life.

Yay for completing the run streak! I'm ready for rest days too. Hope you had a fun week away- following along on insta it looked like you guys had a blast!! (Minus the hotdogs? ;) )

It was super fun and much needed. But being back on this Monday is the worstttt haha.
And I am never eating a hot dog again. Ever. Ew.
