This hunt debuted last year and was even better this year because you didn't have to deal with going through security to get back to the parks when you were done. The hunt also consisted of 12 eggs and the two unique eggs to DTD were Woody and Jessie. This year, the eggs were hidden both outside and inside the stores and sometimes you had to go into the shop to see the egg.

Starbucks - Mickey was hidden over the entrance to Starbucks. However, the egg was hidden at the bigger Starbucks, closest to the parks.

Overall, the egg-stravaganza was a lot of fun. None of the eggs were terribly hard to find and it was nice being able to select which prize egg we wanted. It was fun to see the eggs appear over the course of several days (and to find out that they might still change locations once the hunts officially start).

For Annual Passholders, there was a limited edition pin the featured the pie-eye Mickey! It's a cute pin (and pretty heavy).

Figment was glad to see the Main Street Electrical Parade return to Disneyland. It's a cute parade and fun to watch. That being said, he does think that Paint the Night is a much more technically impressive parade. He wishes there was a way to combine PtN's technology with MSEP's music and floats!

Holiday Season, 2017

Grand Californian Gingerbread House (2017 Edition)
The Grand Californian Hotel continued the tradition started a few years ago of creating a gingerbread house show piece in the lobby. So far, the design has been fairly similar each year (the house itself resembles the GCH), but there are new and different details added each year.

Hidden Mickeys
Each year the Gingerbread House artists hide dozens of Hidden Mickeys on the Gingerbread House. This year's sign board said there were 25 different Hidden Mickeys. Some were big, some were small, some were easy to find, some were very hard to see (and photograph)! Ultimately, I think we found all of them. It's something fun to do if you have some spare time.

These are the Hidden Mickeys that we found located on the front of the Gingerbread House.

Figment's Spring Trip to Disneyland
Spring season is in full swing at the Disneyland Resorts...pretty flowers, chocolate eggs, and the egg-stravaganza!

Egg-Stravaganza
The Egg-Stravaganza returned to Disneyland Resort this year. The hunt runs from March 16 to April 1, with eggs hidden in Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. Just like the previous years, the maps had to be purchased in the park or DTD (i.e., store in DL only sold the DL map, stores in DCA sold the DCA map, and the DTD stores only sold the DTD map). So you had to visit both parks and DTD if you wanted to get all three maps! The maps are $5.99 each and this year, they did offer an annual passholder discount. Guests could select from one of six prize eggs (Mike, Sulley, Belle, Cinderella, Minnie or Mickey). Guests could opt to redeem their maps at the time of purchase or wait until later (I recommend redeeming the map as soon as you buy it to save time later on).

Each map comes with a set of stickers representing the eggs that guests are hunting for.
Stickers_zpsgn1rzqzy.jpg

They also released an annual passholder exclusive pin featuring Pluto in egg shape (matches the Mickey one they released last year).

Additionally, they were selling a set of Star Wars themed eggs (C3PO and a Stormtrooper).
20180320_010126_zpsaftyynxr.jpg

Like last year, the hunt was pretty easy. There really weren't any mis-leading or deliberately tricky clues. The hunts were very popular and we saw lots of guests carrying around the maps (children and adults!). Have fun and good luck egg hunting!

Spoiler Alert: Below are the photos of this year's eggs and their locations for all three hunts.

Disneyland Egg-Stravaganza
All of the hunts consisted of 12 eggs. The two unique eggs to Disneyland were Tinkerbell and Mr. Toad (same as last year). As in the past year, paired characters tended to be near each other (e.g., Donald and Daisy, Chip and Dale - although this year, Mickey & Minnie weren't that close to each other).

We were also going to do all of the hunts in one day, but we kept getting distracted (rides, meals, etc.) and eventually the sun set (hard to take photos at that point!) so we needed two days. :goodvibes

Miscellaneous In and Around the Parks Photos

The horses (this is Finn) were back and practising their new route. Instead of traveling counter clockwise around the Hub, they'll be going clockwise. The CMs said that the horses had to get familiar with the new route. So Finn was being walked along his new route (sans the trolley, which was slated to return next week).
DSC_0111_zps9rapw86e.jpg

They have a "Guest Without Bags" line at Security now! There were several CMs stated ahead of the entrance to make sure that guests with bags did not accidently enter that line. Every guests that went through that line did have to go through the metal decectors. Most guests seemed to understand what "without bags" meant, but there were a few that tried to say they only had a small bag, that only their kids had bags, or that the rest of their family didn't have a bag. None of those excuses worked and the guests were directed to regular security.

PIXAR FEST, April 2018

Figment's Pixar Fest Trip to Disneyland
Pixar Fest has begun in Disneyland and Figment was lucky enough to be able to take a quick trip to DLR to experience as much of the festival as possible! There were parades, fireworks, and new foods to see and try!

Pixar Play Parade
The Pixar Play Parade has moved from DCA over to DL. It wasn't a super hot day (80's), but warm enough that the water effects were in full force. Depending on where you watch it from, you might stay dry, you might get misted, or you might get sprayed!

Luxo Ball - The parade now opens with the Luxo Ball.

Monsters University - Next up is the Monsters, including Sully and Mike, from Monsters University.

PIXAR FEST, April 2018...Continued...

Paint the Night - As part of Pixar Fest, Paint the Night has returned, but it's moved over to DCA. The parade itself looked pretty much the same, except the Frozen sequence was missing. Given the focus on Pixar in PtN, it fits in well with Pixar Fest (almost better than it did for DLR's 60th).

Tinkerbell and Peter Pan still start off the parade.
P1000829_zpsckfg9cs9.jpg

And are followed by the Genie, Lumiere, and Tigger (an interesting combination)...

Then it's on to Monsters Inc!

And we're already at the finale! Goofy, Minnie and Donald are on the balls and then comes Mickey.

20180422_231324_zpsbcwi0ffb.jpg

(Aside: I know that there was only one sequence missing, but without the Frozen float, the parade did seem pretty short. We saw the second showing on Dapper Day Sunday and the route was pretty empty. There was almost no one along the route down towards Carsland. We found a front row spot about 5 minutes from step off time (it started by GotG) across from the waterfall and no one sat down next to us until the music started. The CMs indicated that this is pretty common; the first showing is packed and the second one is pretty empty. So if you can wait, I would go with the second showing.)

Together Forever - A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular
DL debuted a new fireworks spectacular as part of Pixar Fest...Together Forever! It very similiar to the Disneyland Forever fireworks show presented during the 60th Anniversary. There are projections and special effects, along with fireworks. We watched from Main Street, so we had a view of the castle and the buildings on Main Street.

The show featured clips from many of the Pixar movies, but focused most heavily on Toy Story, Monsters Inc/Monsters University, Up, Coco, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Inside Out. There were a few images from Wall-e, Brave, Ratatouille, A Bug's Life, and Good Dinosaur, but mostly in the montage sequences.

I only saw it from Main Street, but my guess is that whever you liked to watch Disneyland Forever from, that same spot would work for Together Forever.

(The photos below aren't in chronological order...they're grouped by movie.)

DSC_0218_zpsbqv88q51.jpg

The Incredibles - This was one of the odder sequences...it mostly features the robot from the end of the movie "destroying" the buildings. The Incredibles are shown (Dash running, Frozone skating, etc.), the majority of the sequence was the robot arms.
DSC_0187_zpsaokwdrqv.jpg

(Aside: This then leads into the "scary" sequence...featuring the incinerator from Toy Story 3. I get that they wanted to use the fireballs from the castle effect, but the sequence itself doesn't really fit with the rest of the show. They could have used that effect during the Incredibles sequence or something else, without the incincerator sequence - which wasn't entirely clear to me the first time I saw it because I didn't recognize the dialog and the projections are just orange boxes (I think they're supposed to be the incinerator).)

Up - The House from Up floats behind the castle. It was a popular sequence, but a little slow.

Overall I liked Together Forever. I liked that they used the projections again and that it was an entirely immersive experience. I wish that they had given all of the Pixar films more equal representation (Ratatouille, Brave, Good Dinosaur, and A Bug's Life just appear in the finale montage and it's a "blink and you miss them" type of thing).

Miscellaneous In and Around the Parks Photos
The parks were decked out for Pixar Fest. Mostly it means Red, Yellow, and Blue bunting.

Changing Color Noodle Salad
Figment had fun with the changing color noodle salad being offered as part of the Pixar Fest. The noodles start out a blue-purple color and then turn pink/bright pink when the salad dressing and/or lime juice is mixed in. It did cross his mind that this might be a pretty chemical-heavy process, but upon returning home, it turned out to be far easier (and healthier) than he imagined. You can mind find most everything you need at a grocery store! They're called "Unicorn Noodles" online.

Ingredients:
Red Cabbage
Glass/Cellophane Noodles (Any of the Bean or Rice Threads commonly found in the Asian food sections will work)
Lemon or Lime or Vingear (any salad dressing that is vinegar-based will probably work)
Water
Pot
20180507_182036_zpsvlmd6qsh.jpg

Instructions:
1. Quarter the Cabbage and seperate out the leaves. It might not be necessary to seperate the leaves, but it seemed like it might speed up the process.

2. Place cut cabbage into a pot and cover with water. More water will produce lighter blue noodles, while less water will produce a more darker color, but make sure to have enough water so that the noodles will cook. They do absorb a fair amount of liquid.
20180507_182458_zpsqu5mcumb.jpg

3. Boil the cabbage and water for 10 to 15 minutes. I don't actually think it matters if you "over-cook" the cabbage, unless you're planning on eating it later.

4. Add the noodles (you can remove the cabbage if you want or leave it in and fish it out later)
20180507_183816_zpskoqknyod.jpg

5. Boil the noodles according to instructions (usually about 10 to 15 minutes).

6. Drain noodles. At this point, you should have blue-purple noodles. You can either chill them for a cold salad (like the one at DLR) or use them in some other recipe.
20180510_184230_zpsgefhmnk9.jpg

7. Now comes the magic...add the lemon/lime/salad dressing and watch it turn bright pink! It's get to be a pretty bright pink color when lemon/lime juice is added or when the noodles are allowed to sit for a bit after mixing in the dressing.
