DH and I are planning an adults only trip and invited another couple to join us. We are taking the 3 day cruise; however, the wife of the other couple has said she wonders if another cruise line would be more fun since we are not bringing the kids. I'm set on DCL but just wanted some feedback from those of you who can compare DCL to other cruise lines for adult vacations. tHank you!!

I have been on Carnival 2 times, Princess 2 times, the now defunct Big Red Boat 1 time...and the Disney Wonder 1 time. (soon to be 2 times) All of those cruises were without children.
My DH and I cruised on Disney last Spring, and I was concerned when we were boarding and it looked as if everyone had children!!! I thought to myself...what have we done? I was so wrong, this was, BY FAR, the most fun cruise we have been on - of all of them. There are alot of kids on board, but alot of them are involved in kids clubs and we really like kids anyway...
The biggest thing was, there are adult only areas, a pool, a restaurant and of course, lounges...where kids are not allowed. They even have an adult beach at CC. We loved the upbeat feeling of the cruise, it felt magical...we felt like kids ourselves again!! We both agreed we would rather take a Disney cruise over all others in the future...which is why we are cruising again this Sunday, with our own baby...9 months old! I was pregnant on the last cruise and didn't have a clue...
Trust me, you would love it and so would your friends! Just look at the posts and you can see for yourself...

We are crusing this Sunday too. It will be our first. Just the two of us. Hope there are alot of adult things. We are going to be at Disney thru the 8th. we were lucky and bought a condo last spring. We are going to MNSSHP Sunday 5th. What are your plans?

I would cruise Disney without our son. I really like the areas where no children are allowed, I love the decor and since I don't gamble the absence of a casino is a plus for me. We have been on other lines and I prefer Disney.

HI we have been on 5 disney cruises, and 6 is just around the corner .. what kids ?? Go u willl have a great time
we have no children ... and if u would just like a great 3 day cruise do it ....

We have been on 5 DCL trips and do not have kids and have never been found with nothing to do.....we have our 6th cruise with DCL again next year too.......Andy

Although we've always taken our daughter on our past 3 DCL
cruises and our next one, I can say you will find many couples without children. I agree with the above posters that there is plenty to do on Disney cruise. You will find 3 days is not enough
and will probably come back. There is no comparsion to other lines in how Disney runs their ships. It's a whole difference concept from no casino to revolving resturant themes each night.
The night light is great and the CC adults only section provides not only a secluded beach but a better lunch than the one with the families. So be sure and do the lunch at the adults only
beach. Many don't know about this and miss out on a better menu that is grilled right there for you and you are way from the kiddies dripping food everywhere. The adults only pool is a great place to relax on the ship.

While DH and I would enjoy a DCL cruise without kids, we have some friends who would HATE it. One couple in particular-- very nice people, make a decent amount of money, and have NO kids. A few days on that ship and they'd be overboard!

Our favorite cruise with kid--Disney Magic. Favorite without kid--Celebrity. We took an awesome, port intensive Southern Caribbean cruise on the Galaxy when my wife was pregnant and had such a fun and romantic time. I loved all the exotic ports (6 ports on a 7 night cruise out of San Juan), and we did enjoy occasional stops at the casino to drop some coins in the slots or a couple games of blackjack. Food was a step up vs. Disney. Shows were good, not quite disney. I'd check the cruise critic or Expedia ship review sites to find the one that offers just what you are looking for.

We truly love DCL....But....if DW and I ever had a chance to cruise alone, we would opt for the new Mariner of the Seas (RCCL)...
