Frontier Airlines, Was It Worth It?

I use rely on my CC travel insurance as well, so far I have yet to make a claim.

Honestly, I was hesitant to believe it was really that good, but read all the fine print on what it covered and didn't, maximums, etc. and it seems to cover what we'd need. No trouble with filing for our cancelled flight last year so for our upcoming trip to Boston I went ahead and purchased the prepay discounted nonrefundable room and if someone gets sick we'll file with the card coverage again.

I've booked with frontier for my partner and I and I'm currently anxious about my decision. I also plan on giving my review here once the experience is over.

The positive so far.

  • I like overnight flights when I travel east (last time was to London and it was the right choice for me, I've also done red eye to NYC and PHL and enjoyed the experience of waking up in a new city)
  • The price was good. I was able to book round trip flight + bags for two people for only $522
  • I've had at least one budget airline experience that was good (Norwegian Air, LAX to LGW)
The worries so far

  • I've found some reviews of Frontier that are making me nervous
  • I'm worried about flight delays
  • I don't know how well Frontier will work with Magic Express
  • I would have preferred a different departure airport (more of a nitpick than anything else)
My only questions so far are.
How well will this work with Magic Express since Frontier isn't a partner airline?
Have you had a good or bad experience with Frontier?
I'm slightly claustrophobic, would it be better for me to pay the extra money and get the stretch seats with more legroom. Thanks

I did the same thing last year - booked the cheapest flight I could find and THEN started reading about it. I spent 6 weeks being concerned.

I bought the "upgrades"; checked bag, "extra" leg room seat. Everything was fine. Yes, it's a budget airline so everything feels "cheap". I highly recommend getting the so-called stretch seats - they ended up being about typical of coach in "regular" cabins but looked much better than the rest of the seats.. The flight attendants were very friendly. It was cheaper to buy a few snacks and water in the airport so I did that. Overall it was a good experience and I flew them again. On the four flights I took one was delayed and that was by 20 minutes. There was no problem with Magic Express.

I'm glad to read your positive review.

I'm not to worried about leg room, so I am going to skip out on the stretch seats (I may regret this). I am used to flying super cheap when I go to europe, I've flown California to London which is 11 hours on Norwegian. They have a 17.2 inch wide seat with 31 inches of leg room, and I am perfectly comfortable for my size. Comparatively Frontier has 18 inch wide seats and 28 inches of leg room. I also fly southwest a lot which has 17 inch wide seats and 32 inches of leg room.
It's never the leg room that I want more of, it's the seat width. When I sit in the middle seat my shoulders will be touching both of my aisle companions, this doesn't bother me as much as it bothers the others.

Yes if you are clasutrophobic it is better to get the stretch seats. I am 5 ft and the economy seating had my knees in the back of the seat in front of me. So there is no room in those seats

Didn't find Frontier seats to be any smaller than United but the price was a lot less!!!

I'm back from my trip to WDW and I can give some light into my experience with frontier.

Positives
  • The seats are wide enough and the legroom is fine for me, I’m 6 foot 200 pounds.
  • The staff tries to accommodate folks as best they can. People had requests to change seats, and this left my partner and I with an empty seat in our row.
Negatives
  • There where many children on both flights screaming all night. This didn’t bother me so much as I can sleep through it, but my partner had a bad time.
  • Lack of reclining chairs left my neck sore after sleeping.
  • Huge delay both ways, over 3 hours coming home.
During our delay from SFO to MCO we had the opportunity to witness a fellow traveller have a complete tantrum and get escorted from the gate by security. In conclusion I would not fly across country with Frontier, I will also not recommend anyone does the same. I think if It where 3 hours or less of a flight length then go ahead, but the cost difference between Frontier and Southwest is going to keep me flying with SW from now on. I did only pay approximately $200 per person round trip which was a fantastic price.
